Himself seems cross--grouchy this AM--- After to-day, I am hoping to get him into a Day Program for Seniors-Just socializing with other people will help him a lot--
Of course, I did NOT eat a banana--'specially a rotten one --this morning--Last night , son #2 and I went shopping for groceries--fresh bananas--fresh blueberries--Foodland here is open 24 hrs--
I am reading an intereesting book--about "Women Homesteaders" and how difficult it was for Women to get the vote-- They were considered "lower" than the family dog--They could not own land-- either--- I guess life could always be worse! Women have progressed so much now--
I must take Lopez out--and try to help Himself be happy-- LOL--BIG JOB!----It is so nice to feel better to-day--- WE ALL SHOULD BE HAPPY_-eh???
All the help your son provides that would not have happened if you had not moved. It's a blessing that your don't have to go it alone anymore.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a day filled with happiness and blessings.
We really are so fortunate to have his help--I know and I do appreciate all he does---" specially as at home --no help--well I had to pay for it-- Thanking yu so much for the blessings-- Hugs, Lynda
DeleteOMG! Hearing aides are $20 THOUSAND a pair!?! Wow. I am getting new hearing aides, too (in the process right now) and they are $5,000 a pair. No insurance help, but . . . . have to have them. Wishing y’all safe travels to get there and good luck getting the new aides.
ReplyDeleteHOPE that Himself’s mood improves. Maybe being w/son #2 will help.
Hugs

earing aids used to be about $5000 --now quite a bit over that I hear--I will; find out soon--but he needs them-- if he will allow me to put them in the frig every nite--away from the cat-- Lordy Be--- Hope they help yu-- Lynda
DeleteOh Lynda, I checked your blog yesterday and you hadn't written anything and I immediately thought of you or himself must be sick. So glad that you feel better today. It is snowing here in Michigan and it is 12 degrees. The birds are at the feeder and enjoying the heated bird bath. I am staying in, and enjoying a cup of hot chocolate. I am glad son#2 will be taking you to the hearing specialist. I thought 3,000 was a lot for hearing aids. Hubby got them 2 years ago. Too bad you can't go over the border to get new ones.
DeleteNo snow here but very cold-- good idea to have hearted bird baths-- I must look into tha--Leaving soon to get the hearing thing over with--Lynda --- Oh-- Thank yu for writing--It made my day--Lynda---
DeleteI used to do things for my mom, but had to approach it the 'right' way to keep from angering her. "Oh, Mom, I just want to vaccuum in here for you ... I know your back and knee are hurting right now and you always work so hard. The doctor told me I need to move more. " (She thought she cleaned like she used to before the dementia, but didn't.) "Oh, Fred, I'm up already, shall I put those away for you?"
ReplyDeleteMy dad had a lot of ear wax and hearing aids. His ear guy told him hardened wax is common in older people, and had him use Debrox regularly to help with it. It's always a new adventure every day as we age, isn't it?
Your Mom is so fortunate to have yu help her-- Keep helping her--- Hard I guess if she doesnt want yer help tho--Lynda
DeleteMy mom died in 2018; she didn't know she needed the help...that's the thing with dementia. :D
DeleteIt's Kathy. I am so trying to be happy today but it's not exactly working. My husband teaches art classes and today is his first of 8 sessions. I'm good with that, he gets paid well and uses his pay to buy more art supplies for himself.... and other things he wants! But for the last several years he's taught Art Camps - one week class in the summer. He's taught 2 sessions each year and it really interferes with our life. I asked him not to do it this year. I am finally recovering from my many surgeries and I'd like to spend this summer fixing up our yard and taking some mini-vacations. But no - he can't even do that one thing for me. What's so terrible taking a summer off! Spending it with his wife!! We'll have been married 30 years this June. So I'm really sad that he's choosing the Art Center over me! Thank you for listening to me whine! I told him teaching a class isn't worth getting a divorce - but just once in our lifetime I'd like to come first! I hope your day is going well and himself is less grouchy! I also hope all goes well with the hearing doctor!
ReplyDeleteKathy--stick to yer guns--get him to take summer off with yu--YOU DESERVE THAT!!-- CRAZY MEN!--I hope he changes his mind--Lynda
DeleteKathy, I'll stick my nose in here uninvited ... while he teaches his art class, how about you take a little one or two day getaway with Daisy. See a museum or scenery you'd like to see without doing the cooking or cleaning. No budget? Save a little out of every grocery budget week ... you deserve it. Sometimes waiting for others gets to the point that it's too late to do that thing you want. (Free advice; take it for what it's worth. And keep in mind I'm divorced.) :D
DeleteHi Lynda, so glad to hear you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, an outing with pilot will help himselfs mood. I do hope you can find a Sr. Program nearby SOON. With son at work and too cold to be out for long, Fred hasn't had interaction with others aside from you.
Not understanding why aids need to go in fridge. Hubs has a clear round box with lid and that's where they go at night on bathroom counter.
Enjoy your time out. Doesn't taking Lopez along hinder your outing? He'd be fine in crate...oh well.
Have a better day.
Love, hugs, and blessings from frigid St.Louis
Marge
Oh Marge-- Our cat tries to open the charger--and drinks my solution I soak my partial plate in--so--- just figure they are safer in our frig-- FROM THE CAT---Lynda

ReplyDeleteWow! Costco hearing aids in these parts get great reviews and are much, much, less. With that said I have no way of knowing each person's individual needs for the various types available. My Dad's pair was $3,000 in the 1990's. He wouldn't follow-up with appointments for adjustments and tossed them into a dresser drawer. Good luck with this!
Susan, Central Texas
Fred has already tossed his first pair out--hope he likes these better-l-ynda
DeleteOMG! $20,000? Much more expensive than I thought. I am lucky the VA paid for mine!
ReplyDeleteI just got back from having my DEXA scan (bone density) done. May not get the results for a week.
It's a sunny day here, but very cold. It's below 0F.
I wish I had a Foodland. We have 4 grocery stores in town. One isn't even open on Sunday and has closed their pharmacy.
I'm eating a chicken sandwich now. Whole grain oat bread, cheese sauce and some mixed veggies I have nuked. It's really good. Then will be a wee snooze with Lucky. I hope. He was sleeping while I was at the hospital getting my scan.
I hope your trip goes well, and am pleased that your son is there to drive you and help with shopping. We are lucky to have at least one of our kids nearby. For me it's my daughter. She is still 45 minutes away, though.
I will check back later. Also I will check to see if you left replies on our comments from yesterday {{{HUGS}}} Love, your sis, Maggie
h Maggie--It was a wonderful day-- The hearing aids turned out to ge less than $4000-We ordered them--- Matt drove and we took him to the Swiss Chalet for lunch- just going to bed soo--- busy day-Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda! So nice to hear you are feeling better today. It was very snowy in Ohio today! How did the ear visit go? I bet it was nice going to the store with Matt last night. We have a blueberry farm the next town over and I freeze lots for the Winter. Stay warm and smile! Hugs!
ReplyDeletewe ordered the hearing aids about $4000 not as bad as I thought--Lynda
DeleteAlways nice when it’s less!
DeleteCould he put them in a drawer to hide from Sushi instead of the fridge?
DeleteHope things went well with Himself and the hearing helpers! That's a heck of a price tag for them.
ReplyDeletewas wrong about $4000--Se ordered them--Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda: I know hearing aides can vary greatly and don't always fix the problem (like my brother). So hopefully they work. And hope you can find a seniors group next week and maybe there is one that has groups for both of you too. Have a good night. Hugs Brenda
