It is mighty cold outside this AM--minus 10 Celcius--Poor wee Lopez will need his Parka for sure--I am trying to sleep in--till at least 6am--not 5-30am-I did get up early--turned up the heat to 72---then went back to bed till 6am----
Yesterday, Son#2 drove Fred and I , and Lopez, to a little town not far from here--Bridgenorth--it was called-- Lots of people living there--lotza water---with a wide wide bridge across and it looked like many people live along the water--It was very pretty---- This whole area seems like a real summer area-even Lakefield has locks--as the water from here goes down , I guess, to Lake Ontario---There are locks along the river--quite a pretty area--and a Unversity also, with a great rowing team, I hear.--Is it Nipissing University?---
So, after dinner, last night, Matt said, "Mom you want to go grocery shopping?--"--It was 10pm----- The grocery store is open 24 hrs---=-=AND WE WENT---- We were the only people in the store--lotza parking------pretty neat!!! I have never done groceries in the night--BUT WE DID---so--No Grocery SHOPPING THIS AM!--Funny eh?---Lotza new things to do----at 82 yrs (or--is it 83??-)--- No---82--LOL
So--- Am I getting used to it here?-----"sorta" I guess---Oh-- One more thing--- Some Lady called last night from "Health Canada", interviewed me----about Himself and my health--will find us a Dr., I hope---and Son#2 took Himself to the Pharmacy where he interviewed the Pharmacist--AND HE LIKED THE PHARMACIST---so, until we get our own Dr., we can at least have our prescriptions sent here--SO SO much to think of isn't there when one moves--
So, be happy to stay where yu are I guess--- kinda a pain to move cities---but-----I guess sometimes, necessary--
I hope that your day is starting off well---"YOU CAN"----- YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING! ---just remember---------------------------------REPEAT AFTER ME
Good morning dear Lynda. What great positive inserts today. Remember, YOU are all those positive things and more.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that Matt took you guys out exploring. Awesome. Your area truly does sound lovely.
How sweet that Matt interviewed the pharmacist and approved him for you. Matt is such a kind, loving, considerate man. You did a great job Lynda.
Something different grocery shopping at night. Wasn't crowded and you don't have to go today when it is crowded. Speaking of crowded, OMG, St.Louis is under an ice/heavy snow warning tonight through Monday. I popped in the store for bananas and lettuce and the lines were all the back to the bakery. The shelves were almost empty of junk food, chips etc. LOL
So HAPPY you got a call about medical care. Great news. Hope they follow through soon.
Hoping you can find a handyman, or son, to hang pictures etc so it feels more like home. You've done a fantastic job organizing and finding places for everything. No looking back dear lady
.....I know you're hurting over the 3 left behind but it's their choice to not contact you. I'm sorry. Please live your best life today! Count your blessings, including your upstairs neighbor lol.
Love, hugs and blessings from cold St.Louis which is getting ready to be a Canadian winterscape
Ugh ugh. You know I hate snow and especially hate ice. Praying power stays on.
Blessings
Marge, St.Louis
Oh Marge such a "newsy" reply--- Thank yu--- I hear there is snow falling in Medina, Ohio--(says daughter)----No snow falling here but minus 10C which was too cold for Lopez to do his business , which ,means , another trip for me--There are trails here--which are paved--and he likes to walk on them--I think they used to be train tracks--Hopefully it warms up before we go out again--Nice to hear from yu again Marge-- Lynda
DeleteYes, you can! How awesome to find that new adventures can still be had, even at 82. By the way, folks like you (December) and me (November) get to stay a year younger than the year math would say, for a few more months! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLOL---- Ye we do have adventures --even at our age-- Awesome eh??--Lynda
DeleteGood morning, sis. Great to see you on here already.
ReplyDeleteYou are really having adventures. Me, too. That's what life is all about. Adventures, learning new things, dropping habits that don't serve us, having fun, great relationships with the things in our lives...
I'm glad you're getting help with doctors, and that you can still get your prescriptions.
I won't go to karaoke tonight. We have a weather advisory about ice build up. It's not a long drive, but I'm unsure about my tires. They were rotated last year. Is that enough? I don't know. So, without the prep for karaoke, I'll be able to get more done around here for the inspection Monday. That inspection is for safety. They want to be sure our pull cords to pull if we need help are exposed (not wound up and covered cuz your cat might pull them), that nothing is on the stove top, not excess clutter to trip on, etc. Since our rent is government subsidized, that government wants to be sure we are safe. If any of that makes sense.
I will call physical therapy Monday to get started.
Yes, we have that super cold temp here, too. It's the same temp Fahrenheit as -18.333 Celsius. Another reason to stay home tonight. I am cold at the venue always anyway. I would be shivering too much to sing if I went. Even with long undies and leg warmers.
I'll come back later, Lynda. Oh! That reminds me...I want to ask that if you comment on our comment, asking us a question...do you check back to see if we answered or do we have to remember to answer your question on your blog the following day?
You have a day filled with things you love! {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Maggie--- I am so sorry that yu have to go thru that inspection-- Yu all do not deserve that do yu_??Good thing yu are not going out to-nite in the ice and snow-- And yes, I really tyry to go back and answer questions or see what you say when I ask questions--Sometimes I do not get back--but I do try--Hugs to yu-Lynda
DeleteWe’re in the same boat -- -12C. I feel your cold!
ReplyDeleteSo glad your DS took your grocery shopping. LOVE LOVE LOVE when it is NOT crowded shopping! I am sooooo glad for you that DS #2 is such a HUGE help to you and Himself.
For sure it takes awhiole to get acclimated. When we moved here from Illinois it took about a year. But . . . it happened. Now .. . I cannot imagine moving back to Illinois! So, hang in there.
Glad you have a pharmacist for the moment and hope Health Canada can help you find a Dr. quickly!
Hugs

Oh Barb--YU went thru the move also then--hard to get used to-- I know it will get easier -- I hope!--LOL--Lynda
DeleteOh, I so enjoy Classical music, Mozart the best ... actually Baroque even more. My morning physcial therapy and cooking music this morning was Tomaso Albinoni. :D
ReplyDeleteNice that the grocery is open late hours; sounds like Matt's work schedule means he is up for going at off-busy hours and doesn't mind taking you along which is nice for you.
Yay that the lady called to get things rolling for local doctors and Fred approves of the pharmacist, which is great -- as a retired physician I'll be he'd be pretty unhappy if he thought the pharmicist was not up to snuff.
So glad for your new living situation, and that things are going well. Happy Saturday!
Yes--I still miss our old territory--Hope that changes--Lynda
Deletesounds like progress is well on the way! Congrats you have made great strides in getting stuff done.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh yesterday when you mentioned having to clear the snow off the car - - remember all the shoveling for Lopez to have a path, for the drive to get to where you could pull out, etc, etc. The car was a snap next to that! Frankly, why clear it off if you aren't ready to use it??? We are waiting for the ice and snow predicted to move into the area this evening and continue for 24 hours. Not huge quantities compared to what some of you get but we just don't have the equipment to remove it efficiently. This bear will be hibernating for a few days!!
Have a great day = Dot
Yes--just have to dust off car now--no shovelling--Dot yu downsized eh??-- Did you find it hard when yu moved to get used to the new place??----- I find it hard--wish I didn't--=Lynda
DeleteActually no, I haven't moved. Been in this old house for 50 years now and really should do what you did. At least clear out some stuff!! Much easier said than done. Dot
DeleteIt's Kathy. I just told my husband about you and himself having to be on a Doctor's List... Seems very challenging but I'm glad someone reached out to you quickly. I just put in for a Virtual Visit - where you answer a whole lot of questions and a nurse will return with a "treatment plan". I'm hoping to get some antibiotics - I think my cold has moved into a sinus infection. It's been over 20 years since I've had one of those. So I'm just laying low here. When my children were young I used to love going to the grocery store late at night. I worked until midnight and would pick up groceries on my way home. I didn't have to bring them with and the stores were very quiet by that time! I'm glad you're settling in. Have a good evening.
ReplyDeleteoh Kathy--Yes we are a list now-- crazy isn't it??--But-our Drs in Elliot Lake can prescribe any meds we run out of--would call the Pharmacist here-- -Things have sure changed eh?-- Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda! More snow in Ohio today. 2-4 more inches coming. How fun out shopping late. I am up late each night worrying about my mom’s house. So nice to have Matt there. I know it takes time to adjust. Praying each day feels more right to you. Big hugs!
ReplyDeleteWell it dosn't seem like home--YET--- It will --I hope Lynda
DeleteYour new place is in town, correct? Do the grocery stores have delivery or do you have anything like Instacart where you can order and have it delivered to your house? You wouldn't have to use it all the time, but it would come in handy when the weather's bad or you just don't have the time to go and shop. Or if they even just have curbside where you order, they get the order together, and you just have to pick it up. Comes in handy when you're sick and don't need enough to meet the minimum delivery order, ask me how I know LOL!
ReplyDeleteOops, left my name off, this is Lisa/Straitlover.
DeleteIt sounds like a great idea which I must look into--Thank yu--Lynda
ReplyDeleteHi Lynda: Health Canada is te overall health body for Canada. Each province handles anything related to health within the province. In it's the Ontario Ministry of Health and I would be very surprised if someone from there would call. They have local healthcare groups. Be be sure it wasn't a scam call and that it was someone looking for your health needs. Glad Matt is showing you more things locally. Hugs Brenda
