"A Maid for a Day"--would be nice!

Wonders never cease! ---Sushi--the cat in the photo---the cat who we found outside in minus 30C weather-who was feral---and who I fed--outside in minus 30C weather---  and finally trapped--and who lived upstairs on the top level of the house for 5 yrs--NEVER ever coming down as she was afraid of the Germans (as in dogs)-Well----she comes downstairs now ---in the evening-- and at night--and wanders all over--Amazing! ---  Beau likes her so she likes him--She never liked Tess--- nor did Tess like her!

And--- it is sunny---not too cold---  but--- I hear the weather guy on CBC TV predicts that we will have snow on the weekend--Praise the Lord for Son #3 putting on our snow tires---with sensors which seem to be working--Our daughter in Ohio tells me that she see flocks of geese flying over their house- heading South---probably from here--a sure sign that winter is coming!

I was so busy with the outside work all summer, I neglected the rec room --well, I call it the gym--  downstairs. And I found huge long cobwebs --from the ceiling , going across the room , to the baseboards--tons of them! ---I felt like I was in a scary Halloween movie ---Sadie , the cleaning Lady, (who is really me)---has been trying to take a level of the house, and de-cobwebbing it-----This time of year,  the day should be longer, as there is so much to do---

As well, I've been de-cluttering closets---  As each child moved out of this house, my clothing moved into their closets-- and I think 1500 women could all be outfitted in this house, daily--so--- trips to town  now , bags of clothing  going to the Goodwill--There are people in town who could wear some of the coats etc--

A woman's work is never done!--- Lord love a Duck!--

So that's sorta my "to-do" list here -----  And who is going to do all this?---Wouldn't a "Maid for a Day" come in handy?---Wasn't there a show once, called, "Queen for a Day?"

  1. Thank you to Son #3. Your "imaginary" "Sparkly" friends want you to be safe and are glad your sons watch over you up there in the sticks!

And with all those women (Sadie, etc.), you need all those closets. 😁

  2. Lynda. Your to do list is big every day.
Donating coats, clothes is a good thing. Can't wear all of it and you'll have more space.
I like that Sushi is coming downstairs these days.
Yes, Queen for a day was a show my mom used to watch. You could use a maid for several days. Perhaps Sadie will bring a helper.
    Take it easy.

  3. Awwww, glad Sushi and Beau like each other. Sushi is a miracle cat and YOU are a miracle worker with what you’ve done for Sushi!

Yes, we’re supposed to have snow flurries this weekend, too. Doubtful anything will stick, but . . . still . . . YUCK!

I agree . . . so much to do, the days should be longer, not shorter!

    My vote definitely . . . a maid for the day . . . or maybe even longer !

  4. I remember Queen for a Day just barely. I'm sure Mom watched it when I was a wee thing. I'm glad Sushi and Beau are pals. Nothing like blessing others with nice things we don't need anymore.

  5. Thats what I need to do, go through my closets and get rid of clothes that I cannot wear anymore.

    Have a great Tuesday

  6. I have way to many clothes too but I always hated to get rid of something I might fit into if I ever lost weight. I should just get rid of them and start again if I do loose as a reward to myself with new clothes. No snow here for now . . .we are going into the 60's today.

  7. With the cold and snow coming it is a great idea to give our winter clothes away to people that could use them. I will check out my coats this week! How does Sushi get along with Lopez? Have a great day!

  8. Really glad your son changed your tires. It's supposed to be very snowy this year along with cold. So if you also clean out some closets there are a lot of people that could use them. If not locally, they will ship the rest elsewhere to be used. Glad Sushi likes Beau. How about Lopez who is more her size? Have fun cleaning closets!

  9. Sounds productive! ❤️

It’s partly sunny here and the passive solar house is doing its thing, heating itself up, but rain is moving in tonight and eventually the temperatures will drop back below freezing again (they were there about a week ago). And we already have had snow that stuck in the last 2 weeks (it melted after a couple of days)

  10. I remember a show on TV called 'A Queen For A Day.' Oops, showing our age, Lynda, LOL.

We manage to keep busy every day and that's a good thing, it wouldn't be great to just sit, with nothing to do. Trust me on this one. :)

Hugs to you all and a special one for Sushi for wandering the house now.

  11. I remember Queen for a Day, but I like your idea of Maid for a Day much better! When I cleaned out my mothers home after she passed away I found four closet absolutely stuffed with her clothes. Apparently she never got rid of anything. I also found some really old things stuffed in some of her drawers! Good for you for decluttering.

    1. Just a note for anyone else finding "really old" things in and elderly person's closet please keep in mind that little theatre groups would perhaps love to get some of that stuff, including old hats. I found this out after I had disposed of all my M-I-L's clothes from way back when.

  12. I’m glad the cat is acting more normal now! That’s cool! Yes, those clothes just taking up space will help others get through another winter. Those of us whose parents went through Wars and the Depression, learned to keep personal things, because you never know whether you would need them again. And that was no joke!

  16. Yes, there was a show a Queen for a Day..........lol long time ago.
Glad Sushi is coming out of her self imposed isolation...
Would you like me to send my daughter up there to help you clean out???
She was here for 3 weeks in July and first week of August and I saw 2 big panel trucks full of stuff go.....then she took a lot of my personal stuff home with her, so the house looks rather empty now...
She will talk you into getting rid of loads of stuff...LOL

  17. Clearing out the old clothes is something I have done a couple of times. Now I have to get to mom's closet(s) while we are here near her. I was surprised that sushi was upstairs for so long. So glad she is joining the family.

  18. Maybe Sushi got cabin fever after 5 years upstairs, lol.
