Lopez eats EVERYTHING_---and some of it is not good!

This little guy swallowed a square little thing that is put on the end of a loaf of bread-- I managed to get part of the thing out of his mouth, but the one side of it was on the back of his tongue and down it went-- -I'm not surprised with Lopez doing that, as he tries to eat whatever he finds on the floor of the kitchen-- I had asked Himself to vacuum the kitchen --but--he didn't---and---  well. so far, Lopez  seems OK---  He is eating and did his business outside, but it is a worry--It was a large enough piece of plastic that it could get would around some part of his insides!

To-day "I" vacuumed the kitchen-- so--I know it is done-----  These tiny dogs  chew everything and anything--and swallow whatever he chews ---  I have pulled stones out of his mouth--leaves--mud, china pieces , rubber from a toy, --well, just about everything.----I did call the vet , who told me that as long as he is eating and pooping, he is OK_-Call them immediately if he stops eating---Lord love a duck! --I sure will!

I shall keep you all posted -----and I hope and pray that he passes this large chunk of plastic---somehow!

  1. Little Lopez has so much to learn and it is a slow process. I hope he passes the plastic piece and that you are able to see it so that you can stop worrying. Enjoy your day.

  2. Oh Lynda, I can't help you out with this. Fortunately, my Chihuahuas weren't chewers, for some reason. They would chew on their toys is what I meant to say, but left everything else alone. Listen to vet, you'll get the best advice there. Try to keep things off the floor but put plenty of toys he can chew on all over the place for him.

Keep us posted about that piece of plastic.

    Hugs to all of you.

  3. Hope Lopez passes the bread tab with no problems. It is the same with kitties. The vet told us to be careful with strings also. The are curious little critters, dogs & cats.

  4. Lynda, Lopez is still a puppy and he is teething. My sister Julie has a BIG puppy dog and he is 8 months old and still teething. There house is a trip zone due to all the puppy toys! Good luck! (((HUGS)))

  6. Lopez's bread tab triggered a memory of when one of my younger sisters swallowed a coin. The rest of us in the family kept her under close vigilance until it passed.

  9. Hopefully the plastic piece passes ok. My dog recently ate something she shouldn't and, although it was soft it wasn't passing and she wasn't eating so I had to take her for specialty surgery for an extremely huge amount of $$$. She was ok after a few weeks. So hope you don't have anything like that at it passes no problem. Let us know. Good luck!

  11. Hope it passes alright....speaking of vacuums, I somehow sucked up a medical rubber glove today, so now mine is not suctioning.

  13. Here's hoping it works its way through naturally. Sigh. My canine of the day was the big old Golden from the places to my north... he happily rolled around in my leaves while I chatted about the sunset with his walkers!

  14. I hope Lopez will be okay. Puppies are all notorious for eating everything. My little Daisy, who was probably better than some, managed to eat my favorite pair of sandles. And one day when I got home from work late I had an Aleve in my pocket that I took out and put on my night stand. Then I couldn't find it. I called the emergency vet and they said to give her syrup of ipecac and then watch her until she threw up. We had to put her in her kennel and drive around town for about 40 minutes. I never saw the pill so maybe she didn't eat it - but I never found it either! Now if she starts putting something in her mouth that she shouldn't I just have to say a stern NO!

  15. Prayers that the plastic piece passes quickly. I would also keep watch for blood in his stool. If you see blood talk to your vet.

  18. Well, my mom at 89 won't vacuum anything so I expect that your hubby won't either. Hope Lopez is okay and things pass soon.
