Sometimes one must "take the bull by the horns"-

This picture was taken this morning--our first snowfall---It is colder than cold outside with really bad freezing wind blowing--  This was the deck-- The driveway side , has about 6 inches of snow--so---at 5am,. before Lopez woke , I put on my winter gear and shovelled the walkway  and most of the bricks near the garage.----  It was an icey snow and I was afraid I might fall-plus--poor wee Lopez had never experienced snow like that! ----  Poor fellow!

I managed to get his windbreaker on him, (Lopez) before going out--  This coat just covers his back and the front of his tummy--so, the snow actually was almost over his head--  Awful!!!  He did   do his business however ---

---Later,  I asked Himself if he would finish the last of the drive-- but---out he went, and before I could say "Johnny Robinson", he was back inside, telling me he would do it later---Lord love a Duck!--Later is not greater!----Poor wee Lopez and I need some snow-less area to romp around in-- I'm afraid this will happen all winter--so----  I took the "Bull by the Horns"--and called our neighbour who did the snowploughing other years for us--and he will now do the complete drive for  $600---- for the winter--I still will do the walkways, decks,  etc ---

Sometimes one must make a decision  --to take care of what needs to be done--I find that I am making these decisions more and more in my "older" age-- -I guess that is a good reason to stay strong-

Living with this wee little fellow , such as Lopez,  maybe is teaching me to speak up---   He sure can "hoot and holler" telling us what he needs to survive  in a man's world-- I' think I am becoming like him!

  2. Glad you have someone to take care of the drive so one less thing to worry about. You and Lopez stay warm and enjoy the snow from the window.

  3. lynda, I love it! I do believe that our fur babies let us know what they want in no uncertain terms. We need to do that, too! Glad you made that decision to have the snow ploughing continue this year. Good call.

Well, hope wee Lopez continues to get used to the cold temps and the cold. Poor baby!

  4. So glad you hired someone for that job! It is necessary, for your peace of mind. Even if you lived alone. Winter cares for no one.

  5. Delighted you made the decision to have someone remove the snow all season. Sounds fairly reasonable. There will still be plenty for you to do.
Lopez will just have to get used to the weather. He won't like it but he does need to go out.
Stay warm and well. Yes, as we get older often more and more the decisions and actions are ours to handle. You're the woman for the job!
    Have a blessed day.

  6. We woke up to winter this morning as well. weather was just wild for a while. For now it has stopped snowing but it is winter for sure here now. Wise idea getting someone to do the snow for the season.

  7. Good for you! Sometimes we just have to realize it's time to hire some things done, rather than try to do it all ourselves!

  8. Daisy and I just got back from our walk - cutting it a bit short because it was very cold outside. I'm glad you decided to call your neighbor and have your driveway taken care of - what a huge worry off your plate! I agree, sometimes we just need to make the decision that works best for us!

  9. I am glad that you hired someone to shovel this year. It is too easy to slip and fall and you don't want that to happen. Enjoy your day and stay safe.

  10. Lynda, life does take courage...you're right about that!

It's cold here now...but it's supposed to be 50F tomorrow! It will only last a couple hours that warm, I am sure.

You have a big family (3 pets and the two of you) to care for. At least you have kids and friendly neighbors to help!

    I have that, too. My daughter, who lives 45 minutes away, invited me for Thanksgiving. They were going to do nothing, but changed their minds. She wants me to bring my broccoli cheese casserole (like the traditional one but with broccoli and cheddar cheese soup) and peanut butter cookies. Huh? Well, she is making the pumpkin pie. {{{HUGS}}}

  11. Good for you. It's time for someone else to look after the driveway. You can only do so much. And with the ice it gets too dangerous for walking especially with a small dog who can move fast and it's too hard/dangerous to try to keep up. Definitely worth paying for someone else to do.

  12. Sometimes you just gotta do what needs done.
Good for you...in the long run, be cheaper to have someone do it for
    you instead of getting hurt.

  13. So proud of you for making that tough decision. I'm sure it will be safer for you and Himself not to be doing the drive. Sending you love and hugs from Adelaide, Australia where it's a bit chilly and rainy today.

  14. Give yourself two thumbs up for making that decision -- you have enough to deal with every day without having to worry about navigating a snowy, icy driveway. Safer for everyone, too. Good for you!

  15. Poor himself! It may just be time for him to retire his shovel. It is taking such a chance for him to be out in the ice and snow. Good luck.

  16. Bravo, Lynda! For taking the decision! That wee Chihuahua is a delight to watch. Wish they were easy to train though. Hugs.

  17. It's probably a very good investment paying the neighbor to deal with the clearing ... at some point you simply cannot do it all, and your Himself may be able to do it less and less as well. This getting older is not for sissies; good thing is, we've lived a while and have resilience and problem-solving skills built. Hugs to you.
