Memorial Day is going to be a good day!

Remembrance Day---I watched a service from France this morning-- so many fallen soldiers--young people-- giving their life so we may live---Our troubles are small to-day compared to then--And there are days  in my life that I wonder how on earth am I ever going to carry on with my troubles?---  I must not forget  "their" troubles!

Well, Lopez , the minuscule puppy, rang the bell hanging on the front door this AM--at first I thought it was a mistake, and maybe it was, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt--put his leash on him, and out we went--AND--He did his business! ---Hurrah  Hurrah! ---(But I still think it was a mistake--the bell ringing!)---Lopez was at the vet too, for shot #2, and he still has one undescended testicle--- so, we continue to hope that the other  one will appear one day!- Have any of you had this happen in a male puppy?--Does it just come down when it is ready?---What if it never comes down?--Oh--Lopez now weighs just over 5 pounds-

Last evening I was vegging in my easy chair in the living room, and down the stairs comes Sushi, the cat,  and she meanders around the living room------ After living on the the 3rd level of the house for so long, it is a shocker to see her downstairs-

So, the weight is  again not moving-- I shall try harder to-day. Why does a few chips calm me, after Himself who is not living in the present everyday, loses his calm?---  To-day I shall put my mind to this "weight loss" thing!

I really do know that this is not the real Himself-- Patience on my part helps him! ---"Going off the deep end"(Mom's expression)- does not help either of us!
Lord love a duck! This shall be a good day for sure! --because I will make it a good day--

  2. Love your positive attitude.
Chips won't fix it...a quick visit to dreadmill could help though.
Lopez bell ringing was likely a coincidence or mistake....hoping for the best. I like that Sushi meanders downstairs in the evening. Perhaps shell start taking advantage of the entire house soon.
Hang in. Its tough with Fred not being himself.
Yes, especially on Veterans Day we must focus on those who gave their all.
    Hang in. Hugs

  3. In the States this is Veteran's Day and we celebrate all those who served or are serving. . . .our Memorial Day is in May where we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
I hear you about the weight loss as I have stalled out also . . . we must not loose our focus in the weight loss battle.
As for Lopez and his part which hasn't appeared yet . . .I would be concerned . . . we had a dog with that once and the are more prone to getting cancer. The vet should be able to go get it.

  4. Find joy and contentment when you can...if it’s a few chips, so be it....you have a lot that you alone are responsible for! ❤️Eissa7

  5. Maybe Lopez didn't really ring to go outside but the fact that after it rang he went out and did his job could help him to learn. I listened to a veteran of the Korean war talk on TV last evening and it was heartbreaking. God bless our soldiers.

  6. What wise words today Lynda, and you are right about Himself. He is not himself. I remember when I finally realized that about my Mom (God Rest her soul) it made things much easier and easier on me when I stopped trying to make my reality hers and staying calm with hers.

  7. Good job, little Lopez! He’s learning! And Sushi is getting more comfortable! That’s awesome.

Yes, when our Himself’s ‘get into it’, sometimes it’s hard to remember that they really don’t mean it . . . it’s not the usual behavior. Patience . . . it’s gold!

An article I found about little Lopez’s problem:

  8. Be happy it’s chips and not Booze! Chips means your body needs more carbs. That’s what gives you energy. Good for little Lopez, he is trying. Too bad you can’t just let him out. Waiting for a leash wastes time. Hoping you stay strong and well.

  10. You are so patient, Lynda! Proud of your persistence in dealing with everything on your plate.

Remembrance Day in Commonwealth parlance in Veterans' Day down here in the 'States. My son once explained to me that Memorial Day is to honor those who lost their lives in action, and Veterans Day was to honor all. But Remembrance Day seems focused on WWI and Flanders' Field and I used to proudly wear the poppy I collected for donating to the VFW when out shopping. Regardless, we owe a huge debt to those who still put on that uniform and do service for us all!

May you, Lopez, Sushi, Beau, and Himself all have a fine November 11th, 2021.

  11. Let's hope Lopez is really getting it. I've only had female dogs so can't speak to him problem but would suggest a visit to the vet. Feel bad about himself. It will only get worse - something to think about. And remember when the scale is not moving it's not going up either. Take care.

  12. Hurrah for Lopez. It may have been a mistake but what he learned is that when the bell rings his mom will take him outside! Doggies are so smart - it doesn't take them as long to learn when good things happen as it does for us humans!

  13. Good job, Lopez. Patience is good but sometimes is hard to find. I work hard and being patient, and if I can do it I know you can, too.
Hang in there and totally enjoy the good days.

  14. My younger sister's husband installed a bell for Bella to ring when she wanted to come in from doing her business. Now they are installing a bell to warn them when she wants to go outside to take care of business. Of course she was I think 7 months old when they started training her for the bell.
Lynda I have prayers going your way for everything you have to deal with. Do your kids not realize what you are dealing with with HImself? (((HUGS)))

  15. Having animals and a husband who is 93 is hard. You have to deal with a lot and my thoughts are with you.
