TV fixed-- Sushi --Lopez---Townhouses--

This is a picture of where we used to live in Ottawa---when we were first married---We had Son#1, 2 and our daughter while we lived in that townhouse. Himself was interning at the Civic Hospital then and I was working the night shift in the Premi and Intensive Care Nursery at the Civic- Hospital-(How on earth did I work nights and take care of 3 children in the day---but--I did!)

Son#2, the Pilot , was in Ottawa recently to visit his daughter, at University there--I told him to look for the townhouse he used to live in--

Son#4 helped me , on the phone, to restore the TV with 2 remotes-- He told me to unplug everything , and then plug it all back in, and  the TV began to work again--The receiver seemed to need a reboot----I guess that is the secret--

You know, there is never enough time in a day, for a woman!-- In fact, to fit everything in, I have to get up earlier than I used to. But--(Isn't there always a huge "Butt"?--  It seems to me, that when a man retires,  he does not know how to fill his day. (Can you even ever imagine , having that problem?)---- ----especially when this man I married never had a hobby of any sort-------so, yesterday, I told him to turn on the TV in the kitchen and watch a cooking show---  then the view--and it can play in the background while you cook lunch--or something--Women are used to being at home, so kind  of know all the secrets to get thru a day--

Lopez finally seems to know where the door is--and I am picking up on his clues , to get him outside in time, to do his business-Sushi is coming down into the living room , in the evenings --will not allow me to pick her up down there yet, in case she has to run back upstairs, but, right now, the 2 of us are talking it over-

And--another crank call came in while I was in here--telling me they were "Border Patrol Services"--and they had a parcel with illegal substances in it---and to press #1-----to speak to an officer--The problem with all of this, is--it's a local number--I guess from now on, if I don't recognize a number, I won't pick it up--I did call Son #3, the Police officer, and he says he gets these calls all the time-- Whatta crazy world we live in eh!!

---ever onward here--Hi to Sandra  who finally found me---  (So happy when Sparkly People  find me!) Don't forget   the exercise ----- so important for the ol' body!

  1. Yes. Unplug and start over does work often. Glad son could help.
Pilot son has a beautiful daughter.
I don't know how you managed to work and take care of your house and children. Women do it all. I hear you with Fred, men, not knowing what to do with themselves when they retire. I liked your idea of the cooking show and the view for him. Good plan.
I'm hoping Sushi WILL let you pick her up. Hope that talk is effective. Sure glad Lopez is finally "getting it".
Blessings for you, Fred, and hugs for Beau and Lopez and hopefully SOON a hug for Sushi.
    Be warm and well.

  2. Happy to hear that Lopez seems to know how to let you know that he wants out. Maybe Sushi feels more comfortable with a dog closer to his size and wants check out what he is doing. Enjoy your day!

  3. My phone intercepts "unknown" numbers and screens them. I then see a text description of who they say they are and the purpose of the call, and I can decide whether to pursue it. Some of them don't bother and hang up as soon as they get the screening question.

Welcome to "Big Brother"... Google knows it all.

Glad Lopez is learning how to communicate with you about the business needs!

  4. I ‘only’ have 2 kids but cannot fathom how I did some of the things I did when they were young! BUT . . . we did it.

Oh that’s always DH’s answer to most everything electronically glitchy – uplug and reboot. Glad it worked for you!

Ohhhhhhhh Lynda, I couldn’t agree w/you more! When a man retires, he does not know how to occupy his time! At least my DH does consulting so that takes up some of his time daily and gets the brain greased. As a women – NO NO NO – never had that problem! LOL

Awww, so glad Sushi is getting so brave! Awesome.

That’s my approach.. . with caller ID, if I don’t know the # I do NOT answer it. So many scammers out there.

    Your granddaughter is gorgeous!

Lopez is learning (or rather, he’s training YOU – that’s how I feel w/Miss Lilly, it’s not me training her, it’s her training ME!)

  5. I don't know how we did what we did when we were younger and raising our family but we just did it. Now it seems to take me all day to accomplish even one thing. Your building in Ottawa looks similar to our first apartment in Dartmouth.

  6. We just don't answer the phone unless we know whom it is. The thing is,
now they can clone your area code and prefix #'s and you think it is a local call. If they don't leave a msg. we mark it spam & block on the phones. I have gotten several from Jamaica, several dozen saying they were either the IRS or Social Security and they needed our information to make sure we are covered - blah blah....Phishing for info to steal out of your credit cards or bank.
    Good luck with Lopez..

  7. I almost never answer calls if I don't recognize the number. Although if it looks like a legitimate number I sometimes will. I did today and it turned out to be my counselor - good thing I answered. Yes, women know how to keep busy from sun up to sun down (and beyond) but men seem to be lost sometimes. Good advice to Himself, I hope he cooked something delicious!

  8. Oh yeah, my daughter does always tell me when there is a problem with tv to unplug the boxes, count to 20 then plug them back in. It reboots itself, then comes back in. Any problems with my computer, she tells me to restart it, if that doesn't work, to pull it's plug, etc. She's my 'go to' person!

Nice if your son went to see the home he lived in when he was young.

Lopez and Sushie are both getting the right ideas and are coming around nicely, glad to hear that, Lynda.

It's difficult to go from working to being home all the time, it's hard for Fred, big adjustment, but it's doing really well with it.

Hugs to you, Fred, Beau, Sushi & Lopez xoxo

    1. ***So sorry Lynda, my fingers & mind weren't co-ordinating!
I mean that "big adjustment, but HE is doing really well with it."
Please forgive me, I'll be more careful from now on and will go over my replies before sending. :(

  9. Happy to hear you got the TV working again. I hate all those scam calls too particularly the ones that call before I am even up in the morning. There is hardly a day that we don't get at least one. Yesterday Publisher's Clearance House??? told me I won $700,000,000.00 dollars plus a brand new Mercedes in the colour of my choice plus, 7,163.58 a week for the rest of my life. Gee I'd be happy if I won $25.00 in our town's Christmas Grocery Giveaway. Today it was Visa??? (I don't have a Visa card). And I am always getting calls from Amazon??? saying my parcel is being held until I pay further charges. I do not answer the phone either but they leave messages on my answering service. And many of them do use our local numbers for calling. Best advice - Never talk to them and never press a button when they tell you to on the answering service.

  10. I always enjoy your blogs, Lynda. Sushi is learning more how to trust her situation. The animals can teach us so much.

  11. I agree with the others - Never talk to on the scammer call and never hit any buttons. Will only get you trouble. Lately there's a lot of Service Canada and border ones. Never fall for the grandparents scan. Glad your son helped with the tv. Good to get himself watching cooking shows to make dinner. Glad Lopez is getting it. Take care.

  12. I get robocalls, too. You can tell what they are cuz no one answers right away. I also get calls to renew my warranty on my 2016 car and pick my medicare plan. I did that, dang it.

I have started not to answer call unless they are from someone in my contacts. If it's important, they will leave a message and I MAY call them back.

Glad that the pets are behaving for you.

I agree that we women find more to keep us busy and satified.

    Have a great weekend, dear. {{{Hugs}}}

  13. It sounds like things are starting to come together in your house. I think I got a hint of relief from this blog.
I haven't answered unknown numbers for many years. Now that my husband is home all the time he answers some now and again and then all of a sudden he started answering with Name of City Police Department, Sargent so and so. How may I help you. The calls from those numbers quit showing up on caller ID. I laughed over that one.
    Have a wonderful weekend, Lynda.

  15. Lynda, I'm not going to say women know how to manage their time, however,They know what needs to be done and do it.
When my brother-in-law was going to retire Becky kept telling him to make a plan as to what he was going to do in his retirement. In one ear and out the other. Men!

  16. I know where that is in Ottawa and it was still there up to when we moved away in 2013. My hubby and your hubby might have run into each other at sometime as he was there too.

  17. We get so many robo calls that you almost hate to answer the phone. Unless it has a name attached to it I very seldom answer.
