What a difference a Day Makes!

It certainly was not smooth sailing yesterday---  but----what a difference a day makes-- It is very cold--minus 12C --but--no snow falling-- Praise the Lord! -- Yesterday, about 4pm, I looked out and the neighbour was here ploughing-widening the drive--I wanted to hug him! ---I will break out the snowblower later and do by the one door-----In all that chaos yesterday, with the neighbour Lady getting the newspaper  out from under the auger of the snowblower, which I ran over, I did trip over a cement block, and fell--AND--- SPRAINED MY THUMB--which Himself just "duct Taped" to the 1st finger-- When it is made immobile, it doesn't hurt----  I guess that is better than being run over by the snowplough which almost happened.

Lopez and I kinda ran up the back road, and the good wee fellow did his business-- Whatta great guy eh?--

And hopefully, Sadie(who is really me)- will be here to do a room--With all that snow yesterday, the inside of the house suffers---- How many of you have a "Sadie"?-- I used to--every week---  when all 5 children were small-- I figure Himself and I can manage without "the cleaning Lady"  now---BUT___ There are days that Sadie would be a huge help-

I have posted the above before---"Stop worrying about others people understanding you--The world keeps spinning whether people understand your not--Make this next trip around the sun about you!"

That is hard to do--My own children do not understand  me a lot of the time--and probably find me a tad weird--But--  they will one day look back on  my intensity and  say, "I remember may Mom doing , or saying that"--

To-day will be my favourite Day-----  How about you?

  1. I finally convinced my sister who is 85 to hire a “Sadie” twice a month for two hours each time to come in and vacuum, scrub the floors and thoroughly clean the bathroom! She has thanked me so many times. She found a high school girl from her church who was homeschooled and came from a good family. She does little extras each time like cleaning under a sink, straightening up the linen closet, cleaning a couple drawers, etc. She can now enjoy her home more and do things she loves.

  2. I used to have a Shasta, every six weeks or so, but that kind of fell away to my pandemic paranoia. I think Himself proved his worth yesterday in taping up your thumb! Hope it heals well and quickly, and you survive, Sadie or no, to snow blow another day.

  3. Sorry about that darned painful thumb, can’t avoid trying to use it! Hope it heals up soon for you to be able to move around better. Weather is weird in many ways, it should be cooler here in Texas, but has hit 70’s. Not normal. Something is up with the world. Take care.

  4. I don't really like to clean but I never had a Sadie either . . . just couldn't justify spending the money . . . maybe as I get older and the jobs become harder to do. We are getting some snow today 1-3" they say. Not all that cold though so that is nice. I still have more dechristmasing to do so I had best get at it.

Glad you got it taped up. Dr. Fred to the rescue.
Take it a bit easy please.
I love to clean and used to clean for others. I have a daily routine and it really doesn't take me long at all.

  6. Oh my, yesterday was a tough one for you Lynda! I did laugh about the newspaper because my partner ran over a newspaper with the snowblower a couple winters ago and when the snow melted there were bits of paper all over the place, lol. Not funny is almost getting plowed into by the snowplow! Good to have a doctor to bandage you up! Hope the thumb heals quickly.

  7. We had a "Sadie" Frau Bidmon when we were stationed in Germany. My two boys were in elementary school. We lived Army quarters (apartments) that were in the little town. There were no fences around housing area. She was the best kindest woman. She would bring the boy things at Christmas and Easter. Flowers & wine for us, but our cat told me the flowers were his. I really loved that dear lady.

  8. I find that I will often do or say something and immediately think that I have turned into my mother. Things that I thought were weird that my mom did I do now and they are aren't weird at all. I hope your thumb heals fast and it helps having a doctor in the house. Take care and stay safe.

  9. I never had a "Sadie" - even when I worked full time and had 4 kids! I always felt that our house was never ever really orderly and clean except when I had to go crazy because we had company coming! After my sweet husband retired, he became a great "househusband" - cooking, cleaning, laundry - the whole 9 yards! Of course it was just the two of us then and I was still working. After I retired, we shared the cleaning and I did most of the laundry. Boy do I ever miss him now! He vacuumed everyday and with my 2 kitties, I need to vacuum every day, but don't - usually every other day! Please be more careful! I hate to hear that you took another tumble! Glad that you only sprained your thumb.....and yes - I'm pretty sure my kids think I am weird sometimes! :-)

  10. My day didn't start out so well. After 1 knee replacement, 1 spinal fusion, and 2 cataract surgeries my carpel tunnel has reared it's ugly head and my right hand is so painful that I can barely do anything. Typing hurts, sitting in the chair reading hurts, zipping up my pants hurt. It seems like God has finally given me more than I can bear and I'm not very pleasant to be around - or so says my husband. As the day progresses I'm feeling less grouchy but even my Daisy doesn't want to hang out with me!!! Your blog always cheers me up and you always have some important messages! Thank you!!

  11. Wow, you really did have cold weather! OMG! Hope that your thumb feels better! The day for injuries, I guess. DH fell early in the morning and ended up fracturing his humerus. Straight across, clean fracture, so just a splint and pain meds @ this point. Lots of pain.

    Yup, Sadie here, too!

Yes, you kids will definitely remember what you have said or done. No doubt!

  12. No snow here today, but we did get a wee bit more overnight, The temp is colder, though.
I call my "Sadie" sometimes. I usually keep up with things pretty well, but once in awhile I gotta callm "Sadie...I need HELP!"
I think it's great that Himself was able to take care of your finger.
Your poster about making it about YOU was right in line with the Law of Attraction!
    It's the weekend. Hope you get some relief, some good food, piano and a few chapters in your book. {{{HUGS}}}

  13. I wish I had enough energy to summon Sadie up for me...lol...I did get everything vacumned, now need to mop the bathrooms and clean them.
Hubs is having breathing issues again...praying he does not have to go back to the hospital again, he hates that and the needles.
I got my 2nd shot in the left knee, also praying the 3d one does the
trick next week....can't stop for any surgery, besides my age is against me or so the dr.s say.
    Have a great weekend Lynda.
