This morning, Beau, the big Shepherd goes to the groomer--9am-- He could not go yesterday as we had a snow storm--He hates this-- the ride in the car,--- the groomer's place--me not staying there with him--The poor fella eh?-- And Himself isn't much help, altho he does sit with him in the back set--(as he calls off orders at me)---
It is minus 12 celsius--VERY cold---At least when it is this cold, we do not have snow falling!--
I must ask you all a question?--- Do you and everyone out there, find--that--- as we age, that your food tastes have changed?--Do you find too, that supper time meals are more difficult to do?-- Do you find , of course, that you do not want as much for dinner anymore?-- I think I could just eat cereal sometimes--- but, we never do have that for supper--but--if I lived alone, definitely I would ! ---(-My question of the day!)-
it's nice to know---that we ARE being watched over, isn't it?----something to think about---I will tell big Beau that!---Son#2, the Air Canada Pilot is in San Jose, Costa Rico--flew there last evening with a full load--- says it is very warm--I'm sure some pictures of food will be coming soon-
WE WILL MAKE IT A REALLY REALLY GOOD DAY---------for sure! -----
YES to all the questions you asked, Lynda. My taste buds changed drastically a couple of years ago and are 'funky.' I can taste sweet and some things like pumpkin but little else. I eat because I know my body needs nutrition. I no longer cook so I get Meals on Wheels twice a week, the meals are big, at least to me, and they last two days. I get a main meal, sandwich, soup and dessert! I seldom can taste any of it but it looks good and so nice when someone else cooks it! My dear son and DIL also make up some meals & freeze for me, bringing them over weekly. I do not eat much anymore and yes, I've had cereal for supper when I've felt like it, lol. I live alone you see, and I can do these kind of things.
ReplyDeleteI answered your questions and it was good to find there are kindred spirits around!
Poor Beau but a groomers is a must with big dogs. I used to bath my wee Chihuahua in my kitchen sink, all 3 1/2 pounds of her, LOL. No problem, she'd stand there staring at me and would give me kisses, bless her wee but huge heart.
Hugs and kisses to you, Fred and your fur babies xoxo
Gloria--YU don't taste the food""-?--- That is really too bad- Your family are so good to bring meals to you--
DeleteYes Gloria--- Beau seems to be better at this new groomer--about the 4th time going there-- not as nervous-And I bath Lopez in our tub--He likes his bath--He has turned into a sweet little guy--I never thought I'd ever say that--LOL--Nice to hear from yu-Lynda
I heard that after Covid some folks lose their taste. I don't think I have, and if my left nostril quits filling up, it will be the same.
ReplyDeleteAppetite for supper? Yes...mostly. I seem to want to eat a bit more often but less at a time. Does that make sense? Maybe you do, too.
They did make us move out cars so they could plow our lot. Easier to get to the car now.
I have all the equipment...and more...to cook like I used to. And now I have an Instapot and Air fryer. I used the 1st one several times for soup (lentil vegetable once or twice and cabbage soup about 3 times. I love them. It just seems too much trouble for just me. I only have the freezer in the frig, so very little room to freeze container full of soup or anything else. Mostly it has frozen veggies, plant based burgers, etc.
I find myself heating soup, maybe an egg on toast, something a friend brings me that they cooked...no big dinners any more. Oh! Except that one I bought yesterday...fresh wild caught salmon over long grain and wild rice. Still have the second half of that for tonight.
We do seem to change as we age. Do you ever forget a word? In the middle of speaking...I just lose the next word. Terrible. Some of us around here finish each others sentences.
Yes...lets make it a great day! {{{HUGS}}}
LOL--- Yes --there are times I do forget a word--and if I relax, back comes the word-I feel so silly-Lynda
DeleteMy Daisy isn't a fan of the groomer's either. She doesn't know where we're going until we get there but getting her inside can be challenging. Once she's there and sees her friend Jacque I think she settles down and now she knows her mommy will be back. Funny that you asked about dinner as I was just saying to my husband that I just didn't know what to make tonight. I usually try to plan a week's worth of meals and then go shopping but just haven't felt like it this week. I'm not a fan of cereal but I would certainly just open up a can of soup!
ReplyDeleteYes it seems all our eating habits have changed-- Beau did well at this new groomer--This is the 3rd time going there and each time he is better-- Lynda
DeleteI am so lucky! Finley loves his groomer. He is always so excited to see her. It makes life easy!
ReplyDeleteThanks to Spark people, I still plan our dinners for a week. I have an air fryer that makes it so easy. Also I have used Pinterest for recipes. And yes, my likes and dislikes have changed. Certain foods I have learned to like. Others, I have no desire for. I wish that I would love vegetables. Still trying. Ha ha
Stay warm! Jacquie
Beau did well this AM--- but--I had to change groomers-- Too bad yu don't care for veggies--LOL--Lynda
DeleteOH my goodness, your emps are cold all right! Stay warm! Hope Beau did all right w/the grooming.
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES. Definitely do not need a large supper. I could see cereal for spper once in awhile!
Had some errands to run today, but got them done. DH is post op day #5 so is feeling a little better.
HUGS and hope it’s a good weekend.

So happy to hear DH is getting better-Lynda
DeleteMy dog's not crazy about going to the groomers either but she is good when there and always comes home looking so good. I don't eat the same either. Of course now that it's just me I don't have to have the same big meals. I'm not much of a cereal fan but could just have soup instead. It's supposed to get colder here there, so if it does there, hopefully no more snow this week for you!
ReplyDeleteBrenda Isn't it funny how our eating has changed as we age--Lynda
DeleteI hope Beau done well at the groomer today. Kloi goes on Monday. She doesn't mind at all. She is a social butterfly but Kilo didn't like going at all. I could easily do cereal for dinner at times but my husband usually likes a hearty dinner. It is cold there! It is 30 here in Ohio with some snow tomorrow. Hope you had a great day. Stay warm!:)
ReplyDeleteBeau did well at the groomers-- I had two change groomers tho for this to happen-Freezing rain driving there this morning---Lynda
DeleteWarming soup or instant Grits would suit me fine. Actually, we still can’t go out to eat safely because of Covid, here in north Texas, going out used to be fun. Haven’t done it in 3 years. Thank goodness we don’t have to pay for groomers, could not afford that. Hope Beau did it ok. Do you have bananas?
ReplyDeleteOh man!-- $100 to Beau's groomer----and I do love grits--We cannot buy them here-- --and we don't go out either to eat--but--we sometimes buy a meal and bring it home.-- Different life now!--Sad too!
DeleteGlad trip to groomer went well. Beau gets traumatized.
ReplyDeleteI'm still cooking sigh as DH enjoys large meals. I've turned into more of a grazer than a meal person. I can always eat sweet stuff...unfortunately.
Hugs
I have lost all desire to cook. My hubbie was an "eater boy" who enjoyed the dinners I made and always let me know. He was a very fit guy who worked out a lot and liked to eat healthy. So without him, I could care less if I eat. My kids bring me meals and I go out to lunch with girlfriends occasionally. I snack around (usually a banana) and basically just eat one meal a day. I guess that is what grief does to you.
