The "Cookie Monster" has it right!

A new day---  to get it right--I want to add--It is minus 22 C---Extremely cold--  the last day of January--

The one good thing about this cold is it will make more ice on the lake--  People will not be as apt to fall thru the ice, in their snow machines-- This happens too often if we don't get very cold weather. Little Chihuahuas do not do well on these frigid days--even in the parka ----I always try to keep him crated until it warms up somewhat--

I read all your responses to the blog, yesterday-- I think it broke a record--45 people  put their opinion in--I appreciate ALL your opinions---Anyway, I am leaving it where it is- It is easy to access  which means a lot  as we are busy people with no time to search around looking  for this blog. However, things may change in the future-

It was so cold over night, that we had to leave a tap running , --just dripping a bit--- in the kitchen. Our water comes from a well, and we do not want anything to freeze, which has never happened, but it's good to take precautions .

I heard on CBC this morning that there is a shortage of Pilots---perhaps part of the reason people have long waits in different countries if their flight gets cancelled and they are waiting for another plane--Also, many people are flying again--

Have you noticed that there are more daylight hours lately ?--  I just looked out, and it is daylight here already. I do notice it is lighter in the  evenings also. --The last day of January--to-day--onward --To-morrow will be February--

-Everyday is a gift-- EVERYDAY --is a gift--Do you think of that each day?--  I need a reminder to not let "stuff" get me down-- When one is in the 80th year, that is so important--EVERYDAY IS A GIFT --even when it is minus 22C outside-- even when 20 tons of snow is falling---and has to be cleared off the driveway-- even when "Stuff" gets  gets in our way---There really is something good in everyday--

Try to be awesome--Every Day may Not Be Good---- but--- There is something good in every Day.

--------------------------The " Cookie Monster" has it right---------- I think--

  1. Right there with you temperature wise. NOT pleasant. We kept a drip of water going, too, so the pipes don’t freeze.

Glad you’ve come to a decision re: blogging. Whatever is BEST for YOU!

Yes, for sure the days are a tad longer each day. Soooooo nice to see!

Ohhhh Cookie Monster has it right! If the day is unpleasant, me will eat a cookie! LOL

  2. Love this blog and all the inserts. Yep, cookie monster has it right. That's one of the things I so admire about you....your positive attitude. Your strength, determination and positive attitude are INSPIRING.
Glad, for now, your blog is staying put. One vindictive person shouldn't have any control over what you share or where you share it. I consider this blog to be a safe place where you can tell it like it is and we can chime in with our experience, strength and hope. Our kids DO let us down and hurt us. I'd hate to think I'm the only one with that issue. If you censor yourself too much you'll be left with weather and pets to talk about but thats your decision. I enjoy hearing about your family. We ALL have issues with our adult kids and it HELPS me to know its not just me.
The lake has to be pretty solidly frozen at this point. Its COLD in St.Louis...11F but nothing like your temps.
I have noticed the days are getting a tad longer YAY. Last day of January yay. February is normally bad in St.Louis but SPRING is coming.
Poor little Lopez is not built for your winters.
Hope things are good with Fred. You were going to speak with someone up there that might have a resource for help when you need to be away from home. I hope something positive or helpful came out of that chat.
Yes, I read there is a pilot shortage. Seems to be shortages of employees in just about every occupation. I read Drs. are leaving the profession too. Some are moving to be hospitalists or concierge Dr's where you pay an annual fee.
You got a lot of responses yesterday. That should let you know how much we love you. ❤
    Stay positive,warm and healthy.

    1. Margene--Yu are so good to write-- Thank you-I do value your opinion-- And yes, I believe keeping the blog where it always has been, is a good thing-- no changes--and yu know me--I shall try to not get upset and go on and on about my wonderful grown up children--but--yu know me--When I become frustrated with one or 2 of them, it just comes out of my head--and yes, a very nice Lady from HomeCare was here and interviewed us and will get back to us, about someone being here once a week so I can do errands-I guess there is a long waiting list--like everything else---Thank yu for writing and caring-I appreciate hearing from yu-Lynda

    2. It might help to write the angry stuff on a sheet of paper, give it to God and then throw the paper away. Don't stop the blog. It helps me get through my days with my DH who just turned 80.

    4. In some 12 step programs that I was in, it was suggested that we make a "God box." With a slit in it on top. Anything you are upset over that you are worried over, you write down on a piece of paper and then you put it in the "God box." Once in there, it is given to God, and you aren't to worry about it anymore. I still have mine. Haven't had to use it in a long time, but it's still there.

  3. Cookie monster has it right - eat a cookie! Maybe a diet cookie! Well, I'm glad you're staying put with your blog. We will all still be able to find you! Love the inserts today. At least the days are starting to get a little longer, now if they would warm up. It's supposed to get to -20 here by the end of the week so you will probably be around - 30 or 40! Hate it! My dog is a Sheltie so lots of fur - doesn't bother her at all. Poor Lopez.

  6. Apparently your very cold weather is headed to NH later this week and weekend . . .they are saying it is going to be -18Fwhich will be about -28C . . .brrrr We don't have to leave a faucet dripping as our home is brand new and very energy efficient. We used to have an almost 200 year old farmhouse in Vermont but sold it to move to NH 4 years ago. Now we are on one floor in a smaller home. Our days are getting lighter which I really like. . . it used to be dark a little after 4 now it is staying light until 5ish. We have a Newfoundland/Great Pyrenees Mix who is about 100 lbs of dog and she loves the cold weather. . .if I let her out on the deck she lays in the snow and doesn't want to come in.

    2. We went from a large 5 bedroom 2 story farmhouse to a one story 3 bedroom ranch . . . I use one bedroom as my office/sewing/craft room and it has a futon if we need it. The other bedroom is a guest room and our room has it's own bathroom. We love it and miss the big house but it was time and our timing was perfect. . . before Covid hit.

  7. Love the increasing daylight, and you know I love your blog. It's like letters from an old friend, we've been reading one another's blogs for so long! Glad it will be "easy" and won't have to go through another learning curve, too, for all of us.

Lopez looks so cute in his little parka! Stay warm up there!

I am happy we will still be able to follow you.
I got a new phone...free...when I switched my mobile carrier. Picked it up today. I have a smart tv purchased before I retired. With my new phone plan I have Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime and Paramount free.
Too bad I only watch tv at supper time until bedtime.

  9. Absolutely Lynda, it is important to be mindful of something good in every day…thanks for the reminder! Some days you definitely have to search harder than others! LOL.
We did put our house up for sale yesterday…sad…I will miss SO much about it BUT I am trying to only look forward and to live in the moment. As with your house, it is more than we need to be doing at our ages.
Lopez looks so cute in his parka AND I am so glad that we can all continue to communicate easily with you…YOU are so loved and appreciated by your Spark friends! ❤️ Eissa7

  10. We have a big ice storm currently in north Texas, schools closed for two days, so unsafe, ambulances cannot get to all the car and truck accidents on the highways! My son stayed home, first time ever, too slippery to get to the road, to get to work. A sheet of ice, no garbage trucks or delivery trucks can get here. Not as cold as YOU, though! Take care.

  11. We're freezing here too, but not like you. We were just -7 in the morning and climbed up to 10. When it's like that its best to stay in.

I'm glad that you're keeping the blog as is. You do you!
