Make the Most of To-day!

We have a new day-- so no snow  falling, --  dark here  too---I am awake ---   "I get to wake up"--Whatta great thought! --

I cleaned up the snow yesterday, but in the process, the rubber cleat on my one boot  came partially off the boot, which I hadn't noticed, so, I stepped on it by mistake, and down I went , on the bricks in front of the garage--landed on my one knee, which is quite sore and swollen--  as well as my ribs---I shall never wear those cleats when blowing snow again--

I hear Toronto is getting 20cm of snow to-day--It looks like we are just on the edge of that storm--which, hopefully, means, not much snow here---

I must tell you, that the crate that Lopez sleeps in, on my side of the bed, , which he escapes from every morning as soon as he  hears me move,-----well, I FINALLY FOUND A WEE LITTLE HOOK, blocking him from opening the crate--This hook had moved and I had not noticed it before- HE CANNOT ESCAPE ANYMORE----  Lord love a Duck--almost 2 years that I've had to grab him as soon as he had escaped  to run downstairs-----  This morning he could not get out---We have another crate down in the living room with a secure  lock on it, when we leave him, when was go to town---Finally , I can get dressed in the morning without wondering what he is getting into  on the main level--

Naps are great things-- Getting up at 5-30 am  everyday,  putting in the laundry before the rates go up at 7am--- is OK as long as that nap is happening after lunch!-- I like to relax on the sofa and am now reading, "Spare"---  by Harry. I have enjoyed  the book--found the part about him  in a war not too interesting, but on the whole, my heart has gone out to him--losing his Mom, or "Mummy", as he called her, had a huge impact on his life- He never believed she had passed--for years and years. He expected her to pop up somewhere and send for William and him to be with her.---Have any of you read the book?---  It showed me how much children depend on their Mother---and by losing her, how it affected his whole life--

I must get moving--- Beau needs to get out--and I need to check the "Snow situation"--

Above is a picture of a fish caught here in the lake-- and below is their ice hut, which , on cold days , there is a wood stove in that ice hut. They can sit in the hut and fish-- or outside the hut and fish--   -
-I hope to-day, for you is special--DON"T FALL!----get up and at-er--- ---Stay strong---

  1. Oh Lynda I'm so sorry about your fall and bruising. Darn snow. Hoping you heal quickly.
Glad to hear you got the crate secured for Lopez. That rascal can get into a lot of mischief downstairs alone. Glad you got that situation fixed.
I haven't read Spare, however, the loss of Harry's mother had and likely still has a huge impact on him. I do hope he and William can repair their relationship. I'm positive thats what their mother would want.
Be sure you get a nap. Hoping you have no snow chores today. I'm still unhappy with son who drove past....no explaining other people. Gotta let it go.
Have a good day. Rest your knee and ribs. Play your piano.
We got less snow than forecast but all the schools are closed based on the forecast. Looks like maybe 3. inches vs the 6 forecast.
    Hugs

    1. Yes, our daughter said it was a "snow Day" there-- and she said it was snowing hard--A very nice Lady from HOME CARE was out here this morning to talk to Himself---and me----maybe Thursday when I go out to do errands and get my hair done-- she can arrange some care for him--Lynda

  2. Honey, could you fix that cleat? They are great to have. Maybe some kinda super glue so it doesn't come off so easily?
We have light snow...snurries...falling. Don't believe we will even get 1/2 an inch...unless it escalates. Not even the weather(wo)men always know when that will happen.
Glad you fixed Lopez's crate. Never used one of those for a pet except for when I take Lucky for his vet check once a year. It is really hard to get him in it! Did it easily this past summer. Wish I remembered what I did. With luck, it will come back in July when I need to do it again.
I will go to Walmart today for cat food. Also the UPS Store to return an extra package of thermal underwear. There were 2 packages on my order before I sent it, but the little square to check if you wanted to delete an item just would not show up on my monitor.
    Sigh. And life goes on...
I do plan to make the most of today. Also on my agenda it floor scrubbing. I am my own Sadie, too.
I have not read the Harry book, but it is one I have been considering. I am in the midst of a great book I got free as an Amazon Prime member...It's called, "Where the forest meets the stars." Can't wait to see how it concludes.

  3. I hope you are doing well after your fall.
My habit has always been to get up early and a little nap after lunch is good. I’ve just begun reading Spare and right off I feel bad that a child is labeled that way from the beginning. I’m looking forward reading.

  4. That would be nice if the lady from Home Care can get some people to sit with Himself, so you can catch a break. Good thing you able to get around, after that fall. Would one of your sons move in with you, if you could not take care of things at home, suddenly?

    1. No--no son would want to move in here--- Crazy eh??_-The Home Care Lady was so nice and Himself was there with us--but-he can't hear anything-Lynda

  5. So sorry to hear about your fall! I am glad you did not break any bones! Sure wish your son would have stopped to help you.....my kids will do just about anything for me - but I have to ask. They don't see things that I need done on their own. So I ask, but sometimes it takes them a while get to my needs, which can be frustrating, but I am learning to be patient. We were supposed to get 8 to 10 inches of snow, but it fizzled out so we got a lot less and the temp today melted everything so I didn't need to shovel! HooRay!!

  6. Paceka1 here - I even tried to re-log in but your blogs aren't recognizing me. So sorry about the fall. Now you have to deal with the pain and that's not okay! I also love those afternoon naps and that's where I'm going right after I finish up here. I have carpal tunnel which I'm having another surgery next Tuesday but my hand hurts so much today that I can't do much anyway! Take care of yourself!

  7. Lynda, I just caught up on your last 2 blogs and it simply breaks my heart that you fell and injured yourself snowblowing….I am just glad that you didn’t knock yourself out in the process! As sad as it is to leave your beautiful property - you can’t do it all and no one is available to help - it is time. Getting older is rough, isn’t it?! ❤️ Eissa7

  8. Did snow removal today, too. Glad to have that done. Oh my goodness, Lynda! So sorry you took a fall. Take care of yourself. I know you will.

Good you discovered that hook so Lopez can’t escape from his kennel till you’re ready.

Have not read the book, but have heard that repeatedly that Harry expected his Mum to call for he and William. I would find that hard to live with!

    Stay safe!

  9. Please take it easy after that fall. Too bad I can't share some of the CBD pain balm that I get from my massage therapist -- it really helps. Let us know how the visit with the home health care worker went -- did Himself stay nearby or did he vacate the premises as he said he would? Without wearing his hearing aids, I'm not sure he would have been able to make out what was being discussed anyway.

I'm hoping you'll consider moving to an apartment or renting a condo instead of purchasing another house -- more headaches to take on at an age when you're trying to make life easier.

  10. Maybe when it snows, you should wait about clearing the driveway and just clear the minimum doggy pathways. It may be that when you get out bright and early to snowblow, you are showing all observers that you have it all under control. Act helpless and you might get better results from the kids...

  11. Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope everything heals real quick. In the meantime request some help to clear snow. I have bought Spare but have to finish the book I'm already reading first .We did get a lot of snow today in Toronto. Don't know how much and it's not finished yet. The driveway has already been cleared for the first time but will probably get done again in the morning. Take care of yourself.

  12. I'm late to the party... so sorry about your fall. No, I haven't read Harry's book. Every story has multiple sides, doesn't it? I think it would have broken the Queen's heart to see the rift between the brothers get to the point it's at today.
