A Holiday Weekend in Canada --a Present to us!

I found the above pretty funny--I suppose we all have regrets--- ---like---  I wish I knew how my parents were doing, when they moved close to us, from Florida----  They moved to our town--way up north here---from their home in Florida--and they were older than old--like Himself and I---

-In those years I thought I was helping them enough-  shovelling snow---telling  them how to reach Doctors out of town, ---instead of driving them there--  perhaps cooking meals for them-----the list could go on and on---  I really had no idea  how difficult and different life was for Senior Citizens at that time.---I do remember them appearing every night, out here, just before we were going to sit  down for supper and asking them to stay and of course they  always turned us down. Why didn't I insist?

That was  a long time ago----and life must rolls on--   accept what  cannot change-- and not be defeated!

Yesterday, a sand truck rolled into our driveway and  sanded it-- I was so happy--  It was like God himself was spreading the sand-----I can even walk on it safely  as can the dogs ----and so far this morning -no snow falling to cover the sand--It has  been a strange winter-- rainy days in February and snow the next day with way below average temps-

It is a new day--- and a weekend  starting to-morrow--I see that March is just around the corner-- then APRIL----Can yu believe that Spring is just around the corner?--  and---  this weekend we have FAMILY DAY---- a holiday weekend in Canada---  a time to get outside with your family  to enjoy all together--

---------------To-day is  gift of God,----which is why we call it --"-THE PRESENT "--------------

  1. Good morning Lynda. Loved your inserts.
We likely all have regrets....cant change the past. We have today...the present...to get it right.
Yay on the sand. Dont know if you called but sure glad sand showed up.
Doubt you'll have Family Day activities outside. A bit cold. Whatever you do ENJOY.
HAVE A GOOD DAY. Play your piano.
Spring is coming. Cold here with snow accumulated on roofs.

  2. Hind sight…. It’s the story of my life!!!
30 days until Spring! I’m planning what my flower garden will look like. Bought some new seeds. I even ordered a little greenhouse from Amazon. Looking forward to being outside.
Enjoy your weekend. I’m going to stay inside and play with my sewing machine. Trying to learn something new. Quilting table runners and such.
Hope that you find the time to play the piano and read! We need “us” days!

  3. We had the contractor finally come this morning to start our bathroom remodel. When we bought this house the Master Bathroom had a tub/shower unit but we have come to realize that with my hip replacement and Al's back surgery that it might be better in the future to have an accessible bathroom and not wait until we need it . . .so destruction has begun and reconstruction next week. It will be on less thing to worry about. Weather here in NH is a mixed bag today but we are getting mostly rain. What is happening with the ladies who couldn't get there this week . . . are they going to try again?

  4. It's Kathy. I also have regrets regarding my parents. At the age I am now they seemed so vibrant and self-sufficient but I'm sure I could have helped them more. I sure would appreciate some help from my kids. But we can only learn life's lessons as we live life I guess. I'm glad you got your driveway sanded. Ours is all ice and there's no way I would try to walk on it - even getting the mail after coming home in the car scares me. I wish my husband would put down some sand but it doesn't seem to bother him!

  5. Lynda, I think we have to reach the 'older' seniors age before we can understand. Even in our 60's and 70's, we can't possibly understand the huge changes life hits us with when we are in our 80's and beyond. I hope to be around a few more years but this being close to 90 is unbelievable! Glad I've made it this far though.

Wonderful that you can now use your driveway without worrying about falling. Good for Beau and Lopez too!

I hardly notice that it's a holiday weekend because each day seems like the one before, ever notice that yourself? It's great for people to have Monday off work though, gives them a long weekend to spend with their family!

Hugs and love to all of you, Lynda xoxo

  6. In the holy book called the Bible, Jesus says, "Ask and it is given." We ask by what we focus on...when we focus on what we want...it comes. YOUR SAND! I am so happy for you!
Everything is ice here, too. It was below 0F last night. Temps are rising, though. It is 27Fnow and is due to be 38F tomorrow. YES...Spring is going to spring forth soon!
At my last (and final) job we had a holiday gift exchange. The girl who drew my name got me a set of little 8 x 8 plaques: Remember Yesterday, Dream Tomorrow, Live Today. I have had them hanging up since then. It's been about 8 years.
Happy Family day to you and yours. Hope you can get together with some kids and grandkids.

  7. So glad your son sent the sand, and wonder why you thought you bought it? How much does that kind of thing cost, I would have no idea? Thank goodness!
