I believe that we can save the world if we save ourselves first.

 We shall make it a good morning---   there is a lot of crazy news out there--- I had CBC TV on as I fed animals this AM---  Lordy Be!--There is nothing we can do about the news--   the price of food-- the snow in California, the  buildings collapsing in Turkey--and--then there is Ukraine-- ---  Here we have way way too much snow--- and there are days that I wonder if I can physically keep the driveway open  or will it "get the best of me"--as Mom used to say-- Strong thoughts----

But, you know what?---  WE ARE  LIVING THRU THIS----and as Mom always also used to say, "We should thank our lucky stars"---- ( I realize now that Mom knew a lot-)---- Mom and Dad lived thru a great deal ---  I can remember sitting on the floor in front of a standup big brown radio, and hearing a man's voice shouting out stuff--- It was probably Hitler--and Churchill ---  We had never even heard of television at that time.  I do remember feeling that one of the man's voices, was frightening----  I knew things were  happening in the world that was not good----  my parents never explained what was going on----  but--they survived ---

So, we have sun this AM---  sorta cold --- with a big storm  arriving to-morrow---  (What else is new?)--  LOL---
The above is my message ----- Eventually  this snow should melt---  flowers--  music --- more daylight--- spring----  just around the corner--
I do believe that we can see the world if we each save our little corner--- --

 This morning Sushi wanted to say hello to you all---Sushi--the  feral cat who found our home when it was minus 30 outside one December--and she adopted Himself and I , after residing UNDER our bed for 4 mos.__Can yu imagine how tough her life was--just a kitten, all by herself----  even eating bird seed from our feeder-----  but--she never gave up--- Then she met me, and was petrified of me---as I was of her--- Now she visits me nightly--  sits on my chest and purrs and purrs---

It is a good day to keep our home fires burning---  stay strong--  be positive--- and dance.---I do believe that we can save the world--each ope us--ourselves-

  1. Good morning Lynda. So glad to see Sushi. She usually takes a back seat as the boys activities are mentioned more often.
    Loved your inserts and always admire your strength and positivity.
    That darn snow has GOT TO GO AWAY. Hoping a son or two comes over to help out with snow. Sigh
    Enjoy this day. Stay positive. Don't worry...be happy..focus on gratitudes.
    Play your piano.
    Hugs

    1. Hi Margene-- Yes Sushi doesn't ask for much-- She loves to come in and stand on my chest in the night--and wait for me to stroke her fur--then she settles in on my chest (in the night) and purrs away--I do love her--- and yu know, she was so afraid of us when we first brought her inside.- I thought she would never come out from under our bed--It took 4 mos--- (She would use her litter box while we were asleep--on Fred's side of the bed--- (Bless Fred eh?)------ I remember, one day, I went upstairs and there was sushi sitting ON our bed--To tame her, I went to a site online, on--"How to tame a Feral cat"---- I used a back scratcher to get near her-- I do remember having to catch her, to take her to the vet to have her dewormed--shots-- etc---but--- she is a good cat now--It was all worth it! 2. Good Sunday morning to you, Lynda! I agree, our mothers and grandmothers knew so much, and tried to pass it on to us. I believe that women are indeed the "wise ones", the survivors... we *are* living through whatever is thrown our way. Hugs and hang in there. And switch off the news every so often, to give your heart a break!

  3. Good morning!
    21 days until Spring! Counting the days. I’m so ready to go outside and plant flowers.
    We are supposed to have another cold front coming in tonight with another chance of snow. Blah…….
    Having a birthday party for my daughter tonight. She turns 40! How did that happen? She gets older and I stay the same age! Ha ha ha
    I think if my parents often. They had so much knowledge, and I never “got” that. I get much of it now….
    Have a great day. Jacquie

  4. Our parents were strong... and taught us to be, too. Your mom's sayings often echo the ones from my mom and grandmas!
    I read somewhere that during the mid teens kids often think their parents no nothing and just do not understand. As they age to their early 20's and are off on their own, they learn their parents knew just too well what the kids were going through cuz they went through it themselves.
    It's sunny here, too, but quite cold. This afternoon, when it's warmer, rain will start. It is due to rain the better part of the next 2 days. The only good about that is the ice and snow will be melted. There will be puddles that may look too deep to step into. Our lot was not resurfaced during the rehab...not enough $, so we have pot holes. We will all need to take caution where we walk.
    I have bananas but will go to Walmart for cat food and... ahem...bladder protection.
    Here is a limerick. You have probably heard it. It's by Rudyard Kipling:
    THERE was a small boy of Quebec,
    Who was buried in snow to his neck;
    When they said. “Are you friz?”
    He replied, “Yes, I is—
    But we don’t call this cold in Quebec.”
    Hope this brings a smile.
    Have a great week ahead, Lynda. We all do appreciate you so much. {{{HUGS}}}

  5. It's snowing here right now but we are only supposed to get 1 or 2 inches from this . . . hope they are right. . .and we have another storm coming on Tuesday with 4-7 inches . . . yuk . . . what were you saying about Spring? I think March is going to come in "like a lion" as the saying goes and hopefully "out like a lamb" Thought my husband might have Covid yesterday . . .he has had a cough and he didn't feel just right and was running a fever . . . so I did a test on him and it was negative and he said he feels some better today but is napping right now so he still isn't right . . . if the fever come back I'll test him again tonight. He rarely goes anywhere . . . he went to the library for the 1st time since Covid began . . .they were doing a new addition on our library so it was online take out system. . . no perusing the shelfs. And our contractor and his workers have been here working on the accessible bathroom project. Any way I am still in the camp of worriers today.

  10. Hi Lynda, it's Kathy. I just can't watch the news any longer. It's all so disturbing. My husband looks at fox news every morning - today he told me that 2 people were killed and 3 injured at a "celebration of life" not far from where my daughter lives. I can't imagine. I wish he didn't read the news either but he wants to share! We're expecting a rain/snow mix overnight - I really wish winter was over! Love the picture of Sushi! She's lucky she found you as her forever person.

  12. This definitely is a crazy world we live in. I suppose each generation has it’s own ‘brand’ of crazy, but . . . right now feels like really VERY crazy.

    Awwwww, Sushi is a real regal beauty! I am sure she is so thankful you took her in!

    Yes, the best antidote we have to the craziness in this world is love . . . starting w/ourselves and our families!
