Happy I'm not a Chihuahua

And we have a blizzard  going on, outside--heavy heavy snow falling--The Chihuahua, wee little Lopez,  absolutely hates days like this--I put his parka on, but he sat down and refused to venture beyond the front steps---I can't say as I blame him! --so----  those  white pads are once again spread out--- which may or may not catch  whatever he decides too do-It's mostly a hit or miss deal!

Son#2, the Air Canada Pilot  is in Denmark--Amsterdam---right now-. He did get out of Pearson  airport, in Toronto, late last night, but I see many flights were cancelled--

The above is a picture of what it looked like at Pearson--  He said many planes had to go back and de-ice again, as there was such a back log of flights-- He says his flight just made it out by seconds before the airport was shut down.-- He flew all night-3 pilots---He  says it is plus 10 in Amsterdam--
This is Amsterdam--
------------------and breakfast at the hotel---  with Danish chips---
It doesn't look too promising about "the hair"----I shall see--perhaps the snow will lighten up as the day progresses-----If I don't get there, all next week I will  resemble "the wreck of the Hesprus"---as Mom used to say---  like the Lady in the picture below-----
Sadie (who, as you know, )-is really me--  says she will dust and  clean our bedroom----- No matter the weather--- or as Mom used to say,--- "Come Hell or high water"--- Sadie is here---

I noted yesterday that a few of you told me , that you turn off the world news-- less stress--- To-day,  I shall  do that I guess , because what on earth can I ever do about it?--

I shall practice Happy Thinking    ---- and --believe that I can do whatever needs to be done---
Lord love a Duck! -- It is just another day , to make it a good day--an occasion-Aren't you happy that you didn't enter this world as a tiny little Chihuahua ?----

  1. Oh goodness. Stay safe in the blizzard. Our winds/rain/snow/sleet/ice/graupel finally started winding down. Not easy!

Hope DS enjoys Amsterdam. Interesting city! Had a pen pal there whom I visited and it’s a lovely city!

HOPE you can make it out to get your hair done. Good luck!

I LOVE the Kavita Ramdas meme. TRUTH!

Stay warm, stay safe and hope that things get better weather-wise for wee Lopez. Miss Lilly agrees w/him.

    Hugs

  2. Poor Lopez! I don't blame him either. I hope he uses the pads for you and doesn't potty where it's hard to clean up.
Went out to my car this morning...OMG! Wanted to start it and run it a while. I had said I would take a friend to his doctor appointment. Nope. I am not going anywhere. While I was in the car, the snow plow came and left 2-3 feet of snow behind my car for me to wade through to get back in the building.
I wonder if you are getting this: Newsweek

A massive winter storm will bring up to several feet of snow and nearly a half-inch of ice to large cities in the upper Midwest and Great Lakes regions.
Roughly one-third of the United States will experience effects from the storm as it moves across the country. The storm has already hit some states and will exit New York by the end of the week. Some cities are expecting up to 2 feet of snow with others anticipating a quarter-inch or more of freezing rain and ice.
Douty explained that the snowstorm then will cut through southern Canada before re-entering the United States in the Northeast. Caribou, Maine, is forecasted to receive 6 to 12 inches of snow as the storm exits through New England by the end of the week.
My daughter warned me when I moved up from Chicago. I didn't think it would be much different, It is!
Last year at this time I was in Hawaii...the trip my son paid for. Today is his birthday. This year's trip to Hawaii they took his dad and are staying at a Disney resort.
I am so lucky though to be alive, strong, a loving cat mom with friends, food (but only 1 banana), electronics, books. yarn with which to crochet...bet you feel similarly.
I don't watch the news either. EVER, The Law of Attraction points out that many bad thoughts and emotions are due to watchin CNN! Or any news channel. I pay no attention to politics, very little attention to sports teams. I see what I want to see...the positive things in my life.
All that...and I was just complaining about the snow. Hmm...
We will survive. Here's our song if you can get past the ads: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dYWe1c3OyU
Just copy and paste in your browser.
Hope you can get to your hair appointment. You need that relaxation and socialization time.

  3. Wishing you a safe, warm day, and little Lopez and big Beau and Himself the same. We have bitter cold wind chills here, but after reading what my cousin in Montana has and knowing what y'all have up there in Canada... can't complain. I did get out to the trainer today, and I got my canine fix yesterday in a visit from Carl.

  4. Well I hope your weather clears enought that it safe for you to go get your hair done! It always feels so good after the appointment. As for me, I have spent the last two days with the vaporizer (humidifier) blowing on me. My chest hurts from coughing and my nose is terribly sore from blowing/wiping it and I am exhausted because I can't sleep at night. I am hoping this all ends soon as I don't want to have to make a Dr. appt and then be told it is just a virus and I have to tough it out. My throat is sore, but ibprofen is seeming to help it. Now is a time I really miss my spouse! No one to make me tea or bring me chicken noodle soup! First time I have had a cold like this in over 12 years!

  5. I had a hair appointment scheduled for today also but I cancelled it yesterday. I don't like driving in the snow on a clear day let alone a messy one. I can understand why Lopez doesn't like this weather. Take care and stay warm.

  6. Aw poor little Lopez, no Chihuahuas can take cold weather and this is really bad. I'd keep him indoors using pee pads then take him out on days when sun is shining, that might work better for him. Just sayin' Lynda, having had two of these wee dogs myself.

We had our snowstorm, pellets, ice, and I hope that's the end of it. But getting around outdoors today may be rough. I'm glad my doctor cancelled my appt for this afternoon, he said seniors should not go out in this. What a caring doc, eh?

Love the photos from your pilot son, have never seen the things he shows, like that egg sandwich and chips, WoW!

I hope you're able to go to town and have your hair done, it means a lot to us, to keep up our hair's appearance.

Love & Hugs to all in your home xoxo

  7. Doesn't one of the sons have a Chihuahua? What does he do in the winter to get him to do his business outside? We got about 6" in this batch of snow but they are called for a couple more tonight before it gets back down below 0 again. I only get my hair cut every 5 or 6 weeks. . . . the rest of the time I wash and blow it dry myself. My mother used to get hers done every week but I have never done that. You need a wash and go style though if you do that. I've been cooking today we have German Potato Salad And pork Schnitzel for dinner with homemade apple sauce.

  8. We apparently got about 15cm last night. Our first walk this morning about 7 - my dog (closer to mid size) went to the stairs which don't get much snow and took 2 steps at the bottom and turned around back into the house. Had to use a peepad and wait till the driveway was blown out. So with all that you get, I can imagine Lopez! It would be better if you got your hair done tomorrow and hopefully someone else clears the driveway for you. Take care and stay safe. Like all today's sayings.

I know you look forward to hair apt. but.....
Be safe if you do go.
Glad himself is better with one hearing aid. Glad he's consistently wearing it. Yay
Can't say that I blame Lopez. I wouldn't want to go out either.

  11. It's Kathy - I have also turned off the news. I might watch a bit of the local news in the morning but I no longer want to know all the bad things going on in the world. I do check on-line every day for the important stuff but that's all I can handle. We got several inches of snow overnight. When I took Daisy out this morning she had to jump like a bunny just to find a place to take care of business. She got extra treats for being so brave!
