As we get older we start to forget things-

To-day, is Ground Hog day--Feb 2nd--no sun here----I suppose the critter in this area did not see his shadow-- so, what on earth does that mean?--Does it mean an early Spring?-- I get it all mixed up, probably because  the ground hog is hardly ever right--In fact they say only 40% of the time  is he right

---   I believe the pesky groundhog  in this area, is Wiarton Willy--  from Wiarton, in the Bruce County of Ontario-Then there is a Punxsutawney  Phil from Pennsylvania, who did see his shadow which means 6 more weeks of winter-- and  Shubenacadie Sam,  from Nova Scotia, with  Lucie the Lobster-a new edition to the folk lore, also from Nova Scotia, who both predict 6 more weeks of winter that area-- The whole thing is very complicated to me, but it is a lot of fun I suppose. Can yu tell that I don't believe a word of it?--LOL

We have snow falling lightly--which eventually will mean more snowblowing and shovelling.  It's the time of year--I suppose.   Yesterday I cleared out by the gate--shovelled it--- as the stones and salt, from the road, might get stuck in the snow blower.  I went to bed holding my back--suppose it's from the fall I took when I tripped on the bricks-- And in the evenings, I search online for small houses in town--  Our daughter pointed out a Retirement community near Sudbury with townhomes-- That might be a possibility also--  but--(always that "big Butt"-)-Will they accept big Beau, who I could never leave behind-- --lotza questions as one ages eh??-----

I received an email from a grandson-yesterday---  that made my heart sing---  when I opened it, it said, "Hi Grandma"-----so nice eh--He thought of me--his Grandma--

And son #2, that Air Canada Pilot  has returned from a wee vacation in Jamaica,  and is enjoying winter days at his cottage , just in case you were wondering  ---so nice for him and his family--

Himself, that man whom I married-- has been good--a blessing to me--  difficult times when one is in their 90's,  getting out and about, but, trips to town do help him--

Time to get Lopez and big Beau out and about-- at least it isn't 100 degrees below zero ---  lord love a duck! Lopez is not a fan of winter but he really is trying to adapt--

Enjoy the day-- even if there may be 6 more weeks of winter--because eventually SPRING will  be here--and you know what that means---

  1. Eventually Spring will be here. Six more weeks no matter what any critter says lol
Glad to hear you're starting to look at smaller housing options. You'd have to check on having Beau. Many facilities down here allow smaller dogs and cats.
Glad to hear your grandson sent you a note. Thats sweet.
Polot son certainly gets around. Hard to keep track of him although he does a good job of keeping you informed.
Glad things are good with himself.
Please take it easy out there with that snowblower. Always so much to do at your house. Soon you'll be fighting with the weed whacker lol
Have a goid day. Stay warm and healthy.
    Hugs

  2. I loved the movie “Groundhog Day”. It reminded me to really live life by learning something new every day. You are amazing!

  3. I think Wiarton Willy did not see his shadow so it will be an early spring! Either way we will still have 6 more weeks of winter as that is only the middle of March. It's going to be real cold starting later today until Saturday - in the -20's so it will be really really cold up there. Be careful snowblowing later. "Isn't the guy next door going to do by the gate"? Take care and stay warm and keep Lopez warm!

  4. I don't believe in the groundhog as a weather forecaster, but I did enjoy teaching my Kg students about him and the folklore that he could predict spring! We would put on our coats and venture outside to see if they could see their shadows and then did art projects with that theme! Special memories of the past! Happy Groundhog's Day to you!

  5. Unadilla Billie (our version) saw her shadow this morning, so six more weeks of Winter here in Nebraska! Folklore gives us something to smile about, doesn't it? Here's to a good remainder of the day.

  6. Yes, supposedly that little rodent predicted 6 more weeks of winter. Ah well.

So glad that Himself is stringing together some good days. Good for him AND you!

How wonderful that your grandson texted you!

  7. I've seen that photo of the nude couple. Really hilarious!
We don't have snow again...yet, but it is still bitter cold! It is due to be -16F that is -26.6667 Celcius.

I love all animals (some I wouldn't want to be too close to...like tarantulas), but I think they are as confused as we are!

I can see how Himself would enjoy trips to town. He needs to see different things...be in a different environment.

Do you exercises for your back? In our 40s we all start with DDD where our cartilage starts leaving our spine. You both probably know that. When I get that crick that won't let me stand up straight, I go to an empty spot on the wall. Stand with my feet a few inches out, and FORCE my spine against the wall. Hurts like h...for a few seconds, but then I can walk away straight. I have exercises I do in bed, too. And resistance bands and dumbells for my shoulders.
I read somewhere on the web that it shouldn't hurt to get old. I sure agree, but...
Lynda, I am going to message you what happened to the groundhog. Haven't been able to see how to post a photo to you here.

  8. Paceka1: It's cold here too and getting colder. Tomorrow will be below 0 all day long, but by Saturday we should have a nice warm up. Might even be able to take Daisy for a walk, although that's questionable because they don't do a very good job of plowing the path and I should stay away from the ice these days! Hope your back feels better soon.

  9. Don't overdo it with the snowblowing. I hope you will be able to find something that works out, a condo or retirement community in your area, that works for all of you (including Beau). Not so sure about Sudbury, though, as that will place you far away from ANY family. At least you are able to see the local boys & their families where you are now -- I don't think that would happen if you're two hours away! / Leslie

  10. Dear Lynda…I do hope that you’ll be able to find something that is suitable as you strive to downsize and lessen your chore load. All of that snowblowing ….. I’m sure that you could think of things you’d rather be doing!! Isn’t it nice that your Grandson thought of you?! Take care, friend….❤️ Eissa7

  11. I don't believe in the groundhog predicting the weather but it has always been fun waiting to hear his prediction and hoping that it will be an early spring. Time goes so fast that even six weeks will be gone before we know it. I hope that you can find a smaller house in town that would make you and Himself happy and comfortable. Take care and be safe and warm when you are outside.

  12. I don’t pay attention to any ground hog, but some places hope for tourist attention. Hoping you figure out some kind of closer, smaller place to live. You deserve to have a better back for the rest of your years, this hard work is using up your back for stuff that you should not do, instead of saving it for later years, so you can live in some comfort then. There is a limit to our bodies. Hoping you can take Himself out again soon, just to see what is going on. Can you play piano soon?

  13. Take care of yourself Lynda....I have a slipped disc, no fun, chronic pain.
I was doing pretty good with the back until the strap David had put on the bed frame to pull himself over fell off and I got tangled up in it and fell....thankful was not worse than it was.
Hope you are feeling better with your back. Since it is cold and snowy, you could call the pups and play for them.

  14. We had a heatwave in the high 30's today. Our snow is melting, but we still have a lot of it. I'm sure once it melts we'll get hit again with more snow.

Oh no! Don't overdo it with the snow-blowing. Rest up your back.
