Oh Lynda - I surely can identify with you about chores being overwhelming as the seasons change! I have a love/hate relationship with summer's warm and sunny days. I love the season but hate the all the extras that are required! More mowing of the 4+ acres, weed whipping, trimming back the shrubs and trees, and the POOL! Finally got it opened yesterday - had to put 15 bags (40 lbs each) into the pool as it was all new fresh water because it was painted last fall! I took my time and used a dolly (hand truck?) to tote the bags from the garage to the backyard one at a time.....once I got them all laying around the pool, I cut the corners off one bag at a time and slowly rolled the bag side to side until I could pick it up and pour the remaining 1/2 bag of salt out! It took me several hours and I was one pooped puppy when I finally got done. No one was available to help me and it had to be done - so I just did it. Reminds me of your blog yesterday when you had mower problems and figured it out....sometimes we just keep trying and we are to get it done ourselves! And yes - I need Sadie to visit my house.....as it has suffered from lack of attention for several days while I worked outside! I can truly identify with you! My yoga teacher says "Motion is Lotion"! I've also heard "Move it or lose it" - both motivation to keep going! We must stay strong!
ReplyDeleteSandra --Too bad your kids don't give you a hand with the pool--lugging that salt is terrible--- I just have to get 2 bags downstairs to the water softener and I broke a bag trying to do it--My grown kids do not appear--- That lawn mower I bought has to go back--It is too flimsy--Yu are my idol Sandra===a strong Lady --- Be proud-- Lynda

ReplyDeleteEnjoy Victoria Day. Our Memorial Day is 27 May. Can’t believe how fast May is going.
Yes, sometimes the chores do seem overwhelming, but . . . when you are a caregiver, it is a real overwhelming situation! You are doing the best you can. You have your hands more than full!
Hugs and enjoy the long weekend.

Yes--Looking after Himself is not a lot of fun--and so sometimes its horrible==LOL-- Lynda
DeleteDid any of us, back when we were young, think that, once we got old, we would be spending so much time just cleaning and cleaning, over and over, until we die?? It never ends, until we do. They don’t like to tell us that part!
ReplyDeleteA lot of cleaning--I agree-- Good thing for SADIE LOLOL--Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. It's hot here too and we had thunder storms overnight so everything is very muggy. I too have thought about the air conditioning but so far the fan has been working well. It gets too cold downstairs for my husband. Yes, wouldn't it be nice if that handsome man would come and clean! My son is here - well, right now he's refereeing soccer games but he will be back for dinner. I wanted to cook something nice for him but instead I'm just going to order pizza! My house should be cleaned too but that's just going to wait awhile. This afternoon we're going to an art exhibit opening for a friend of ours. It will be nice to get out of the house. Annie is here with us, Daisy's litter mate - so I have 2 Goldens to play with today! It's their birthday on Monday the 20th - I should celebrate. Our Memorial Day isn't until the 27th this year. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteBad thunder storm, early this morning here--very close-- but the rest of the day good--Yu will have fun with the 2 dogs---I'm learning that your Memorial day is a week after our Victoria day--Hugs Kathy --Enjoy your son visiting-=Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda, himself must be perky again since he's running the vacuum. I, too, would like that handsome man who cleans! Sadie and I get it done.
ReplyDeleteCleaned the house of a friend yesterday as she's out of state with her seriously ill son. It will be a nice surprise when she comes back home.
HOT here today. 80sF today and 90sF Sunday.
I DO appreciate routine days. Good stuff.
Enjoy your Victoria Day. Our memorial day is next Monday.
The variety of annoying flying bugs up there sure doesn't sound great BUT it beats snow.
Going to get a new rose bush as mine died after 4 years.
Great inserts.
Gotta move it or loose it so we'll keep moving it.
Hugs and blessings
Marge/St.Louis
Marge so good of you to clean your friends house--such a treat for her!--Enjoy your new rose bush--very hot here today--trying not to turn on AC but will have to sooner than later--Always great to hear from yu-Lynda
DeleteMay is certainly flying by. Somebody else already mentioned that US Memorial Day does not coincide with Victoria Day this year. Some years it does, but this year, not. It's a week from Monday.
ReplyDeleteEmber sends her best waggles to Lopez... she probably outweighs him now, at 31.26 pounds! She just demanded (and got, of course) a walk out the front door, and it was hard getting her back home. Both because she wore out in the heat and really needed a drink of water, and because she found this HUGE stick in a yard about a block away and insisted on carrying it home!
Life! It's good. Blessings on your home! May the flies give you a break!
I did not know Memorial day and Victoria day are not the same day this year--Ember sounds like such a good pup-- He will be your closet friend Barb--Lynda
DeleteGreat blog as usual, sis.
ReplyDeleteThanks for recommending Whoopi's book. Love her! Did you see 'Sister Act?' and the 2nd one. I haven't seen that, but other movies of hers. Also loved her on Star Trek.
I guess I am lucky in that I have no outside work to worry about except my car.
It's great that Himself vacuums for you. Now, if he'd do hard floors, clean the bathroom(s), dust, etc....then he might be that handsome man!
I do my best not to worry, but to trust. A Law of Attraction quote I saw recently teaches, "Worrying is using your imagination to create something you don't want." 'Cuz, of course, you get what you focus on.
Glad you focus on the beauty in ordinary days.
Happy Victoria Day to your and yours.
Our Memorial Day is Monday the 27th. The 28th is my oldest son's birthday...our adopted son.
Love that painting of the girl with the cat that I sent you. It was done by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.
Errand running friend around is done, more cleaning in case my OCD son-in-law comes in after our lunch. Daughter and hers had no time to get together last week.
When I get home from the lunch together, I fly into bed for a short snooze before meditating and then getting ready for karaoke.
Keeping busy keeps us young (and strong)! {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie
Well Maggie--Whoopies book is easy to read-- At first I found it kinda silly but after I kept reading , it became interesting--trusting better than the worrying--I shall try---things usually turn out-Maggie I need to meditate--I think it would stop the worrying--Yu think I could fit it into my day??? I know yu will enjoy the Karaoke to-nite--- Hugs sis! Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda: Sounds like Lopez has got used to your bug suit since he did his business. Nice of himself to help by doing the vacuuming. As close as you will get to that handsome stranger! It's supposed to be warmer here tomorrow and Monday. Have to go to the store tomorrow too as they are closed on Monday. Have a good night. Brenda
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda-- Our grocery opens at 10am tomorrow--I will be there too-- NIce to hear from yu-Lynda
