Do Your Thing--

We are so so fortunate aren't we?--- Thanksgiving Day in the US -such a great day to count your blessings--Appreciate all the good in your life!!

We have SNOW here--  Yesterday we could label as a "snow" Day--and a bit more fell overnight--I shovelled it off the bricks in front of the garage---So, Himself is home here to-day--I made a pot of soup for lunch , from one of those cooked Chickens from the grocery store--  It seems like a "Soup" day-- We shall have that soup for lunch plus a salmon sandwich--All of you in the US--are you having turkey for supper?--

Our Canadian Thanksgiving was a month and a half ago---October 14th

Lopez and I hoofed it up the road-earlier, -in the snow--The snow doesn't seem a problem to him this year---AND --he even did his business---So--- Lunch time here--then nap time--WITH MY BOOK---I am in need a a good book-------Any ideas?
Enjoy your Thanksgiving  weekend---  Are you celebrating with family??--- Oh Son#2 just sent a picture of the view from his cottage

                                                                   No snow!!!

  1. Hi, Lynda! Did you get that my comment disappeared yesterday? I added a new one saying that the one day I didn't copy my comment to repost later if it ended up not posting here. Sigh. It had posted fine for days and days...
Quite cold here and no sun. No snow either, though.
I am going to my daughter's house 45 minutes away. Leaving in just a few minutes as I am sure there will be heavy traffic heading to 'the cities.' (Minneapolis and Saint Paul). She bought an already prepared feast from our local chain grocery store. We'll see.
I remember the old days. My ex-husband did the turkey. After breaking up the bread, he did the stuffing, too. Perfect. I did all the sides including homemade pumpkin pie. Those times are just memories. Seems like nowadays many people don't want to bother.
The local senior center also just delivered small meals to us in my building. Turkey, a scoop of mashed potatoes with gravy, corn, a roll and a bit of cranberry sauce. 2 large pies to divide, too. Not complete with no green bean casserole or sweet potatoes, but it's something they do for us every year. I ordered 2 meals cuz when they took the orders, I hadn't yet heard from my daughter.
I haven't heard from my local adopted daughters. They may have already moved to Canada to escape Trump's plan. They have been married 10 years and don't want to lose that and its benefits. I would think they would have said goodbye, though.
Whatever you and yours do today, I hope the day is as close to perfect as it can get. Maybe some rest for a change. I'll check back later, sis.
Oh! I saved 2 memes. You always have wonderful ones! {{{HUGS}}}, Love, Maggie

  2. Hi Lynda, it's Kathy. Yes, it's Thanksgiving here and all is quiet in our home. We celebrated with 3 of my children yesterday afternoon. It turned out to be kind of a disaster - the turkey took much longer to cook, the girls left the sides in the oven too long and all was burned on the bottom, and the little boys were crazy wild! I want so much to enjoy my children but sometimes it's just easier to be at home alone. So today my husband and I are just "doing our thing". I want to read, do my therapy exercises, and maybe watch some TV. Nothing too challenging. Tomorrow I think we'll clean the house - well, it will be mostly me now that I'm healing! But Tom will have to do the vacuuming for awhile still! I hope you have a nice quiet day! Soup for lunch sounds amazing!!

  3. Love your son’s view…. Is that where you’ll be living, as well? Celebrating FL Thanksgiving here and have much to be grateful for…. especially the fact that we sold our home on the Gulf a year and a half ago and it was destroyed in the back to back hurricanes. So glad that we are not homeless AND dealing with the endless bureaucracy that many FL coastal residents are experiencing! Have a good day, Lynda! ❤️ Eissa7

  5. Oh it is such a nice shortcut to make chicken soup from rotisserie chicken! Delicious.

Yes, DH will have turkey (I am having soup – oral surgery on Tuesday so have to eat liquid or soft foods.) It’ll be just DH and I (and Miss Lilly). Both kids are working. That’s fine. Still a bit tired gfrom Tuesday.

What a beautiful view from Son #2’s cottage!

  6. Oh, soup stock from the chicken carcass is just the best!! Our Thanksgiving meal was Monday, as it was the day closest to the holiday that both of my kids were off work. We had some friends over, so a total of seven at the table.

Yesterday I took the defatted pan juices and carcasses of the two chickens out and made a nice big batch of broth with a little white wine added in. I'll have a few batches of chicken soup from that; soups and stews are my favorite meals during cold weather and help me get my veggies in.

What sort of books do you enjoy? I'm an avid reader. As someone else said, JA Jance has several excellent series of crime novels. I also like 'cozy' murder mysteries if they're not too sappy. I also like sci-fi depending on the author; one of my favorites from the past is Marion Zimmer-Bradley. Her Darkover series is really good; a blend of mechanical/mystical. Currently I'm listening to a cozy Christmas podcast since it's the season; a little Hallmarkish but enjoyable and cheerful which is nice as this season is so wonderful but a bit bittersweet sometimes with loved ones gone home.

The view from Son #2's balcony!!! So beautiful; I hope you make some happy memories there this summer.

    Happy Thursday!!

  7. Hi Lynda! I bet your soup was so good! I cooked turkey, ham and all the trimmings. Of course, pumpkin pie! Love that view that your son has from his cottage. Wow! How was your day? No snow in Ohio, thank goodness! Good boy, Lopez! Aren’t you so glad we are through the puppy stage with Lopez and Tommy? Kloi will be nine in January. She is so easy! Have a great evening! Hugs!

  8. Hi Lynda: Nice view from your new home next summer. Look forward to not shoveling snow in a couple of weeks! Don't give yourself a heart attack before then. Take it easy with the shoveling and spend your time packing instead. Your soup sounds really good. Enjoy your evening. Hugs Brenda

  9. Hi Lynda
Love the view from sons house complete with no snow.
Thanksgiving dinner at sons house and 3 dogs plus a cat. Quite hectic.
    Enjoy your book.
Hate that you are shoveling. Could you call son and ask him to blow snow with gifted blower? Youd think hed just do it but.....
Good things coming soon. Hang in.

  10. We had a dusting of snow on Thanksgiving afternoon, but not enough to measure. It was cold enough there was still some on the grass this morning, but it seems to have blown off the streets and sidewalks.

Such a short time until your big move... got my fingers and toes crossed for things to go smoothly!

  11. Hi, Marti here! Yes, I had a great Thanksgiving at my cousin's house 20 minutes away. I was in charge of the green bean casserole. There was turkey, ham, scalloped potatoes, oyster dressing and regular dressing, and my green bean casserole. For dessert there was, of course, pumpkin pie, banana creme pie, and a pumpkin roll, and we were sent home with leftovers. Today my bf, who is here until Sunday, will help lug in the Christmas decorations/tree from the garage and I'll decorate. It's freezing out, 32 but feels like 14, with a stiff wind. Snowshowers. I may not get very far at decorating outdoors, as I don't even know if the ground is soft enough to put up the decorations that stick in the ground, but I can put up the two trees, and wrap the lights around the front patio fence, that is, if they haven't burned out. I definitely do NOT go out ANYWHERE on Black Friday, LOL. Enjoy your day!
