Gobble Gobble day in Canada---Can yu smell the Turkeys cooking?

Now isn't that special?--And--Did you know that?---2 days to our life--?????--Like--WOW!!!!--I need to laugh more. First of all------HAPPY THANKSGIVING --here in Canada--- I made pies--

I'll add the whipping cream later. To-night we are going to Son#3's for a Turkey gobble gobble , dinner.
I shall take little Lopez as he cannot survive alone here . He has been a sweet very good little boy-slept from 10pm to 6am-----then went out to do his business.
So, all is good with him--and Beau and Sushi--but--(Isn't there always a big "butt"?)---  Himself seems to become very angry --grouchy--in the evenings-- why?----  It seems that the least little thing upsets him---and he never ever used to be like that. Last evening, I was "fit to be tied"--(Mom's expression of course!)-----so, I ignored him---
I never remember my Dad getting that way , in his "older" age--In fact, Dad used to have us  "in stitches" in his senior years---
Of course, being a Doctor, Himself, he will never admit that the frustrations of aging, could be the cause---  of course I know it isn't "ME"----  who just bought little Lopez Fernandez Sanchez--the cutest wee fella in the whole wide world!
Oh the joys of growing old-er----Lord love a Duck! ----- He should be happy  to have Lopez , Beau and Sushi--AND ME-----in his life----shouldn't he?

  4. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family . . .glad you are getting together for some Turkey and family time. Have you considered that maybe himself isn't feeling 100% lately. I know you have been busy with the Wee Fella but also maybe himself is a little jealous of your time not focused on him. Something to think about anyway.

  5. It’s great to have someone else cook for a change so enjoy your dinner tonight. Your pie looks delicious. I’m cooking a turkey today for family and have been entering calories and have come to the conclusion that I don’t have enough left for lunch if I want to have dessert. Happy Thanksgiving! 🥮 👍

  8. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Enjoy dinner and your pumpkin pie. And may Little Lopez survive it ok. Himself may be jealous of the attention that Lopez is getting and he's not. Or could be old age issues. Hope he enjoys dinner today. Have fun

  9. Oh that pie looks delicious! Enjoy the family and food.

Glad that your bringing little Lopez with you. He'll brighten up the festivities.

Awwww . . . definitely hard to deal with grouchiness. So much going on . . . retirement, pandemic, being stuck in the house. Maybe it's all catching up w/him. Doesn't make it any more pleasant but maybe come clues to the WHY.

HOPEfully getting together w/family will brighten his demeanor!

    HUGS and happy Thanksgiving.

  10. Lynda, it's called "sundowning" in the elderly. Google it. I'm sorry he's having that.

    Happy Thanksgiving to you!

  12. Yes, Himself should be happy with the four of you in his life...and I'm sure he is. Does he have a nap in the afternoon? If that might help. If he already does have a nap, maybe he should skip it? I'm grasping at straws here (my mom's expression).

Are your pies made from pumpkin or sweet potato? I prefer pumpkin.

    Have a blessed Thanksgiving...you and all of your. Gosh, we have a lot of blessing, don't we? Including the ability to deal with the frustrations in our lives. {{{HUGS}}}

  13. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family and fur babies.

Okay if that is true about laughing I am never going to die!!! I find myself laughing a lot mostly at weird things I do!!!

I thought of two things that might be the problem with himself. 1. He hasn't been out of the house for awhile. 2. He hurts or does not feel good.. If he has a headache a wee small pup might put him over the edge. Wonder if you asked him to hold the pup while you do something in the room to see if that helps him bond with the little cutie!!!

Again enjoy your turkey dinner and awesome looking pumpkin pie. I have to wait a little over a month to get turkey (which I should not eat anyway because of the sodium) and pie which I WILL EAT!!! I love pumpkin whatever.

Have a blessed day. Praying everyone will bond with the new member of the family SOON!!!

  21. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I loved your laugh quote. Keep laughing Lynda.
    Your pie looks perfect.
I'm glad you are going to sons house. Lopez will be a big hit.
Perhaps Fred is a bit envious of the attention needed by Lopez? It might be time for Fred to get out of the house. He's been cooped up for a bit. I think Fred will enjoy seeing the boys and the grands.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Blessings to you and your family.

  22. Just catching up on the past week. Happy Thanksgiving to you, hope dinner with the family was good. Congratulations on your new baby Lopez! What a change from your Beau-sized dog! I'm sure things will settle down eventually. Puppies are so much fun, but also a challenge! Hang in there!!

  23. It could be that hubby is noticing things in himself that scare him about being older. He could be covering up his fear with anger. He worked full time longer than most people and now doesn't know what to do with himself. Not feeling needed by everyone he was doctor too. Just my thoughts.

  24. Your pie looks delicious! Add some whipped cream and yum! I remember my first Thanksgiving with my husband's family -- a LOT of people around the table and my first time meeting his aunts and uncles. They passed around a bowl of whipped cream at pie time, and I took a spoonful and was going to drop it in my coffee (something my European family did if whipped cream was around), and my mother-in-law shrieked, followed by a "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I think she thought I was aiming for the pie but was going to drop it on the table. I was so mortified. Of course, now that story is often retold at my own family's Thanksgiving dinners.

Re Himself and the evening grumps -- I know it's something you don't like to think about, but it could be another part of his cognitive decline.

Also: Thanks for the daily pictures of Lopez. That face!

  26. Mr. Lopez Fernandez Sanchez (I thought it was a different name), is such a cutie. I agree hand Lopez over to "Himself" to bond with. Now that pie looks good enough to eat! My mouth is watering something fierce! (((HUGS)))

Hope you got it on your regular email.
As to Himself acting out, maybe it because he isn't getting enough
    sunlight...
