Lotza action on this home front!

This man--Himself, came downstairs this AM., telling me that there was something wrong with his heart---that it was beating too slow--said, he needed a "Pacemaker"-----We contacted his Doctor--who told us to get him to Emerg right away--Son#1 picked him up-took him to Emerg---Emerg. would not allow me in with him---so, I stayed home here-They promised to call me--They never did!

Anyway, all the heart tests turned out normal---Apparently his heart rate was very slow when he arrived in Emerg--  It has returned to normal now and he is back home here and will wear a heart monitor for the next 3 days--- and by hook or by crook (Mom's expression) he is going to Sudbury ASAP to the heart specialist and they will have to do more tests. It was quite a scare! --Looking back, over the past 3 weeks, his mental health  has really gone wonky---  He seems his normal self now, but he sure has not been recently.

I wonder if he has mixed up his medications--maybe taken too much or forgot one?   Lordy Be!--He must take 20 meds daily! --I took a picture of them all in the cupboard so I will be able to tell a Dr. if this happens again.

Another thing, we both had our flu shots yesterday and they gave him the double one for Srs., but the Pharmacist said that would not cause side effects.

And to make matters worse. it is still raining--- and the puppy Lopez Po-ed in the kitchen and then ate it---Lord love a Duck!   What is worse than that?

  4. So sorry to read this about Himself Lynda, I'm sending positive thoughts your way. I think little Lopez was trying to hide the evidence.

  5. Oh dear...so sorry this dumped on your day. So many big responsibilities on your shoulders today. Prayers for Himself to stabilize. Be patient with Lopez...just have to be vigilant with him.

  6. Wow, what a day! Glad your son got him to the ER right away. What a scare! Wishing you all well, getting that appt as soon as you can.

  7. Yikes! Glad it all turned out well. Lynda you may be coming to a point where you need to take control of his medications.

  8. Oh dear oh dear, seems things come in threes and you've got them . . Fred; Lopez; rain. Well, can't do a thing about the rain. Fred, you may need to take over giving him his meds, to be sure he's taking them and taking the right dosage. As for Lopez, I've known of dogs who eat their own poo, it's not uncommon Lynda. The very best person who can advise you about that is a vet. They know about all these things.

Don't feel too upset about these things happening, it's just that you're getting things going on with your hubby & puppy at the same time that makes it seem enormous.

Please let me know how it goes with Fred and perhaps how it goes after a phone call to your vet.
    Hugs to all of you.

  9. Hope everything goes well . Medicines are wonderful things for us . But it is easy for anyone to mix them up , or forget that you already took it . I have a trick if I am taking a pill from a pill bottle , or if I am trying to remember what pills I have put in my pill box for the week . I turn the pill bottle upside down , after I have taken a pill . To remind myself that one was taken . My dear Dad same age as your hubbie , does blister packs . Dad doesn't have memory problems . But with all his meds , it's easy to forget one . Take care .

  10. Glad himself is doing some better and the others may be right about you being in control of the meds . . . I don't envy you trying to tell him that. Don' worry about Lopez . . . you will get that wee fella figured out soon. Your rain is headed here this weekend . . .Thanks

  11. I'm so sorry, that must have been very scary for you. I'm glad himself has returned and is feeling more like himself. We haven't had much rain but it's quite chilly outside with super wind gusts. Yesterday it nearly knocked Daisy over! Took her to the groomer's today and she tried to run away! You'd think she'd like the attention!

  12. Glad “HIMSELF” is ok and being monitored.

Dogs have some weird habits. Think of Lopez as a small ruminant like a cow or a rabbit, and maybe you will feel better? πŸ˜‰

  13. OH my goodness, my dear. Sending MANY hugs. What a trauma to have to stay home amidst all this. My prayers that all goes well with the Holter monitor and the cardiologist visit. That would be a guess of mine, too, that maybe he took his meds incorrectly. Especially cardiac meds. OY.

And if it's any consolation, my dog Mr. Spot, rest his soul, ate his poo too, until he was about 6 mths. The vet wasn't too concerned about it being done occasionally . . . but did do blood work to make sure everything was in line nutritionally. And it was.

HUGS, prayers, blessings and know we've got your back!

    Glad you blogged it out.

  14. Gosh, I sure hope Himself can get to the cardiologist quickly! It's terrible that they never called you, but medical facilities are short staffed everywhere. You probably know that many quit when covid started.

And Lopez ate his poo?! I have heard of dogs eating out of kitty litter boxes, but never their own. Wonder if he's missing some nutrient? Maybe he was just hungry...but yuck!

    We just gotta stay positive...hard as it may be at time. Wonder if the other pets are jealous of the extra attention not given to them. Can't help it though, the new baby needs more! (attention, I mean). {{{HUGS}}}

  15. Amid all your stress the sound of falling rain and a warm wee Lopez asleep on your chest are two small graces that you deserve and really need. I wish you a few more peaceful moments here and there

  16. The only thing you should worry about is himself. Make sure he gets to the cardiologist soon. And to make sure he gets the right pills take control of them or find a container to put the right ones in daily for him to take. And re Lopez it's not uncommon. My dog does it and so does her breed. Perhaps chihuahuas are the same? Ask the vet. And we're getting your rain starting tomorrow evening for some time so maybe it will clear up there. Stop worrying about everything or you will be sick!

  17. My thoughts and prayers are with you and himself.

  18. Prayers the cardiologist will diagnose Himself & give him the treatment to help. (((Hug)))

  19. I hope and pray that everything turns out well for "Himself". Yes, make sure he gets checked out. Better to be safe

  20. I think you really need to be in cotrol of his meds. A friend just went to emerg with extremely high blood pressure. She was going to have dental work done and was told to go off her blood thinner med but got mixed up and went off the blood pressure med instead. Hope he gets his appt. in Sudbury pronto and they are able to help him

  21. What a scarry morning at your house. You may need to take over, or more closely monitor, Fred's meds. Glad he's home and wearing a monitor.
Upcoming appointment for Fred may reveal more.
I've heard of dogs doing what Lopez did. Hope it was a fluke and not something that continues. Gross
Hugs for you Lynda and prayers for you and Fred.

  22. Glad Himself is doing better and it is good he will get some follow-up with the heart doctor
Lopez could be reacting to your distress about Himself. Dogs are very sensitive to our emotions.
I hope tomorrow is better for you

  23. I’m so sorry to hear about Fred. I hope he gets to see the cardiologist soon and that it’s good news. πŸ˜₯ πŸ™

  24. I hope Himself sees a cardiologist soon and gets checked out. Don't forget to take care of you too. Sending prayers

  25. What a day! So good that everyone responded quickly but still so sad you couldn’t go in to the hospital with Himself. I agree with others that you probably should take over supervision of His meds. And Lopez was no doubt reacting to your stress levels. Oh dear! Always something isn’t it? We are getting your rains on Sunday here in NS But aren’t the fall colours glorious?! I hope you’re getting out for your Nature walks. You or need them more than ever. 🍁❤️

  26. Glad Himself is acting a bit better. What a scare and how horrible you couldn't be in the hospital with him.

  27. OMG, you do have your hands full between Himself & Lopez! Hope Himself is feeling 100% soon.

  28. Oh my I glad Himself is ok today. Yuck with Lopez eating poo. That would turn my stomach. If this continues tell vet, cause he might be missing something in his diet, although I don't know what. I think you feed him like a King. Wonder if the Queen had these problems with her pups?

  29. Prayers for himself and you. Is it Lopez's breed that does that? I hope you can find an answer.

  30. You need to lock his meds up, and dole them out as needed in the correct dose yourself.
I do Davids and have for years because he would either forget or just not take them altogether.
