-because it is Sunday----- Yeah-----and a day to relax--except--- I can't find the bag of kibble that I bought before I brought Lopez home-- and--if I bought it, why isn't it in the cupboard ?--Do you suppose he has eaten 2 bags of kibble since we brought him home?-- They were very small bags--but---- that does seem like a lot of kibble-- For sure----I am losing my mind! ---So, I shall have to make a trip to town, to the pet store and buy a bag of kibble for X-small puppies----
I keep thinking of my Grandfather (My Dad's Dad) this morning. Maybe he is thinking of me--eh?---I remember him holding my hand, as we were dancing around the kitchen, and he sang, "A heel and a toe and away we go!"----Grampa wore a kilt--We absolutely thought he was the best! --And looking back, I believe we loved him so much, because he spent time with us--talked to us--took us to his Bakery and told us we could order whatever we wanted --as long as we never told our Mother and our Father--or Gramma--and we ate everything our little heart desired! --And-of course we could not eat our dinner, we were so full---and there was a great deal of food being passed under the table, at supper time, to Grampa at the head of the table!
I remember him taking my brother in his big black car to a few farms around Port Perry, and he would announce that my brother was Ivan's son---(That was my Dad)-- then Grampa would tell his friend, "You want him? He is for sale you know!"---- And I remember my brother and I crying up a storm as we really thought he meant it! ---
I remember those days-- I loved so much going to Grampa's-- It was an "all day" drive--from London , to Port Perry, with a picnic along the side of the 2 lane highway--Dad with his Coleman stove cooking weinors and beans--the double bed my sister and I had to sleep in and my sister deciding that the "chopper" would chop my arm off if I was on her side of the bed--
Lord love a duck! Memories are good aren't they----=specially when they are good memories.
Good morning Lynda.

You have so many wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing as they often will bring back memories of my childhood that I had forgotten. Enjoy your day.
ReplyDeleteOh no on the mystery of the missing kibble! You’d think, though, if little Lopez ate too much food he’d be sick!
ReplyDeleteAwww what wonderful memories of your Grandpa! Those are the treasures of life. OMG! NOT the chopper! LOL
Have a blessed, happy Sunday!
Memories are wonderful. Thanks for sharing. The 'chopper" is real. LOL When my Grands whould come for a meal they had a habit of kicking each other under the table until I told them there was a big chopper that came down the middle every so often and woe be to the one who had his or her feet past the line. No more kicking. I wonder if they still remember.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to have memories of your grandparents!
ReplyDeleteI was born late to older parents so I never met mine. My older siblings have stories, though! 😀
I don't remember us ever having a picnic on the side of the road but I do remember going to the park down the street from my grandma and grandpa and we would have our family reunion there. It was so fun seeing my aunts and uncles and cousins.
ReplyDeleteIt is raining here and in the high 50's
Have a great Sunday
Oh the joyous memories from our childhood. I hope I am making those kind of memories for my granddaughter when she comes for an overnight like she did this weekend. We baked cutout cookies for Halloween and decorated them . . .then she takes most of them home. . . which is good for me. Lovely Sunday here in NH. . .but is suppose to rain all week starting tonight.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories, Lynda, thankful that you still enjoy them. Sounds like lots of fun times.
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories Lynda! My grandparents were out in New Brunswick and Alberta so we didn’t get as many visits but they were all the best! 👍
ReplyDeleteFunny, I was also thinking about my grandfather yesterday, my mom's dad. He was also so much fun when I was growing up. I had to stay with them when my sister was born - he bribed me with a nickle for every 5 minutes I could be still and quiet. Not sure I ever earned any money but it was sure fun trying!
ReplyDeleteThe 3 of us siblings in our 70's have fond memories of all 4 grandparents. The 2 siblings in their early 60's missed out on spending much time with them. It's common on both side of my family to have 30-40 years between generations.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good day for relaxing and remembering. ♥️♥️♥️
ReplyDeleteYour grandpa sounds like he was a great guy. Lots of fun. After you buy more kibble you will probably find a bag somewhere at home. Hopefully the drive is more peaceful today! It's already getting quite cool there. It's going to be colder and rainy here the next few days. It's already getting dark so early now - before 6:30. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteMemories are awesome. It was a good day for such memories here, with the rain and all! Hope somehow you get little Lopez his kibble.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, happy memories are great to have. Keep them in your heart always Lynda, bring them out from time to time and look at them again.
ReplyDeleteMy happy memories are of my brother, who was 7 years older than me, he teased me big brother always do but I felt plenty proud when he decided to teach me how to play a game he loved but none of our siblings knew how to play. It was Cribbage!
Hugs, Gloria
What fun and happy memories. Due to living on a farm and having many duties as a child and teen, I had a very different upbringing. My one gandpa wasn't allowed to see my brother or me and the other grandma gave us money and some clothing "but don't tell your mom". We did lots of picnics with neighbors after working and enjoying their friendships a lot.
ReplyDeleteWhat great memories. :) I'm sure your kids and grandkids will have many wonderful memories too.
ReplyDeleteYes, Lynda, good memories are wonderful. Ones from our childhood and when our kids were young especially. A Course in Miracles teaches, "About the past? Remember only the Love!" We sure have had a lot of that!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead with your pets and Himself...{{{HUGS}}}
Hi Lynda,
ReplyDeleteWe used to cook on the side of the road as well. I adored my Dads' dad, I thought he was a giant(lol)because he was 6'2..my gma passed 2 months b4 I was born, and Daddy said she was so thrilled he was going to be a dad.......my mothers' parents I spent a lot of time with.
The cookouts were great fun..sometimes Mom would make potato salad, & throw her iron skillet in the trunk and we'd find a great spot on a creekbank somewhere, we'd fish & Mom would fix fried chicken...thanks for bringing those good memories back....
Hope Lopez is using his potty pads by now.
You have some wonderful memories Lynda and I love the way you share them with all of us.
