It's not all fun and games when a new puppy arrives!

This is Lopez---  The is the reason I am late blogging! Yu see, Lopez looks sweet and innocent----but--(that big huge "butt")-Lopez has a voice on him that could "wake the dead"!------ He uses this voice when he cannot see me--- He weeps and wails---  looks upstairs --and when I fail to respond, he barks--loudly!

Lopez does not realize that big Beau needs me too--also Sushi the cat--and Himself---AND--Sadie--the cleaning Lady! Lopez thinks I solely belong to him---when I finally pick him up, and hold him, he snuggles into my neck and immediately falls asleep-- It's like he is saying, "Finally, it's my Mama!"----(The poor wee fella eh?---)----- and it hasn't helped any with big Beau, for some reason,  continuously licking him of which Lopez seems to enjoy.

He slept last night from about 10pm to 5am (This is Day #3)----I know he is very tiny, and on the whole is doing well-- pooping mostly outside-- peeing  outside---but freezing as the grass is wet--

Our kitchen has turned into "the nursery"--Himself is ready to send him back to where ever he came from---and wee little Lopez--Well, he just wants to be cuddled 48 hrs ---in a 24 hr day--- wrapped tightly in a fuzzy blanket , on his Mom------"ME"

Lord love a Duck! I AM THE MOM!--Will Day #4 be better?-----Oh man! I hope so!

  1. Lopez is just so cute and it sounds like he is very loving. Hopefully day 4 and each day after will be better and he won't be so dependent on you. Have a great day.

  2. You made me giggle this morning! Oh yes, you are Mamma! My new pup is now 3 and his puppy actions have improved but he loves to find new ones to keep me on the move! Good luck!
BTW, I don’t post back to you much because it continues to post my response twice? I can’t figure that out🤷‍♀️

  3. Wishing you a better day than yesterday. . . We have not had a true puppy in our house in years . . .al of dogs have been young rescues of about 1 year old.

  4. I hope each day will get better for you Momma! He probably misses his family but things should improve. It’s good Beau like him and maybe Sushi will come around too. It’s a lot of work with a young puppy which is why we don’t have dogs anymore. Have a good day! 👍

  5. We knew this would happen, you will deal with it nicely now, Lynda. Time will change some of it, but the bed is made, and you will sleep in it. Take care out there.

  6. Aww, he's just a baby, Lynda. And like human babies, he needs his Mama a lot more than the older ones do so do show him more than Beau and Sushi for a while, he needs that. Maybe sneak in a little extra time with Beau & Sushi when Lopez is asleep. Yes, these tiny breeds have big voices, they have to, in order to be heard, lol. They cannot go outdoors when it gets really cold so it's best to find a spot indoors where you can put down a puppy pad to train him to go on it during cold weather. It will work out. The photo of Beau and Lopez is adorable! Good friends! Take it one day at a time, the puppy stage is so short. Hugs!

  10. Yeah...puppies are hard work. But they do grow up. You might want to try crate training Lopez for 'security' dogs seem to feel with their own space.

  11. He is cute but he also just left his mom and family so everything is new to him. Leave him to sleep all night so he gets used to it or will expect more. I hope it works out with everyone else especially Beau. Hopefully within a week things start to settle down. Stay strong!

  12. How sweet! I have heard puppies are a lot of work but I guess we have to understand when a little one is taken from its mama they need comforting. The same with a kitten. Good luck and tell himself to be patient. I think Beau will make a wonderful daddy to Lopez.

  13. I had to laugh when I read what Becky (Thoms1) said about Beau being the Daddy to Beau. When I think about it she is right. Sushi and Lopez may not get along ever but hopefully Sushi doesn't "beat" Lopez up. Do you think Lopez will ever be bigger that Sushi?(((HUGS)))

  14. I love the picture of Beau and Lopez.

He is just a wee puppy. And the life he knew changed suddenly on Sunday. He is now in a place he has never been or seen and there are people and animals he has never seen. You are the only one he recognizes so yes he does seem to be needy at the moment. The one sad thing with animals you can not explain what is going on because they really can't understand. So you just need to be patient with him. What about wrapping him in a warm towel and putting him in his crate. He might like that. Then check on him often so he doesn't think he has been deserted. If that doesn't work maybe you can put him in a BIG towel and hold him on your chest so you can still do things. It is like when you have a new baby there is a lot of work in the beginning but slowly everyone settles into a cycle. Praying that happens for you and Lopez.

  15. Perhaps you could swaddle Lopez in a blanket and have Fred cuddle Him? Just a thought. Yes those little guys have big voices. Hopefully Lopez, will settle in quickly
Beau and Lopez picture is so cute. Looks like those 2 will get along.
    Have a great day!

  16. Aww poor thing, he can't make out where he's at yet. He just misses his brothers and sisters.

  17. Awwwwww, poor you, poor Lopez! You're both getting used to things. It takes time and it will happen.

When Miss Lilly was a baby she was clingy, too. Couldn't be out of her sight. But they mature a little bit as time goes by.

HUGS and Lopez is a cutie!

  18. Lynda....Did you think it was even possible to be busier than you already were....enter Lopez with his puppy needs!! But....he is adorable and will settle in to the house routine soon....sending you a wheelbarrow of patience to hold you over until then! LOL. Eissa7

  19. The hazards of buying a puppy. No idea of it's personality

  20. Love that Beau is "taking care of" Lopez. He will adjust, but it will take time. Remember what a time you had with Sushi's first days? Weeks? Months?

Yes, you are the mama! Hope you find your way to relax and enjoy your once again adjusting human and animal family!

  21. Oh so cute!! Don't send him back to wherever he came from. He needs his mommy. And apparently he needs Beau as well. Little ones do have a big voice because they want to be heard and think they are big and bad. :-)

  22. Any change is a period of adjustment, and you have two of them going on here. You are adjusting to having a new puppy in the house and Lopez adjusting to a new home. Given a little time it will get better.

  23. I love this. Yes, the puppies think they should have 100% access to their moms. I remember when Daisy came to us. She cried and cried when I put her in her kennel for the night. But now she is the most perfect doggie a mom could ever want! Lopez will get there!

  24. sounds to me like the wee baby needs to be left to cry for a bit and get use to being on its own they do learn but he is so cute

  25. Ahh! How sweet he is! You have so many that need you! You are the best!:) It will get easier. Enjoy!
