This is Lopez--- a "Deer Head" Chihuahua -----He is the sweetest little "bit of a wifit"--(Dad's expression)-Lopez is home here with us , after surviving a 5 hr car trip to bring him here.---- The Breeder and her daughters met us in Barrie---drove up from Toronto--- She had Lopez in a tiny wee basket, all snuggled down with a fuzzy blanket, and a wee toy.
We left here at 6am--were back home here by about 5pm--lotza traffic! ---- at Son#3's house, we let Lopez out with Phil's older Chihuahua and his medium sized dog, and Lopez was SO happy to see them--He pranced around and I could see how happy he was--then he did his business in Son #3's yard-- Whatta good boy eh?
This was the breeder with Lopez--- She was Spanish--nice Lady!-
So, it is his 1st day here--- He slept in the car crate beside my bed until 3am--- Then he woke--cried--so out we went and he did his business, then went back to bed--Beau is good with him but we still have him barricaded in the kitchen--Now, Sushi 's nose is "out of joint"--does not like him--- It will take time!

Lopez is adorable! It will take all the furbies time to adjust but they will. You may need to get him a bitty coat cuz he doesn't have dense fur with an undercoat to protect him from the cold.

Now, I don't like Chihuahua's, well, other people's Chihuahua's have always been so unpleasant, and I was against you getting another dog, BUT...he IS cute, and, who am I to say you were wrong? When my 15 yr old dog had to be put down, I couldn't stand the pain of being without a dog one more day, and immediately got another one the next day (well, I found out there was a litter and my bf bought me one for my bday). So, I'll be looking forward to many, many updates on the little guy. One thing to do is try to introduce him to many, many people so that he doesn't end up a mean, cantankerous, one person dog. And I've read, treat them like a DOG, not a toy that you carry around. Make him, sit, stay, in other words, treat him just like he were a GSD. :)

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Lynda, Lopez is a real sweetie and I'd be wanting to cuddle him all day! Yes, Chihuahuas are very intelligent dogs and their hearts seem to be bigger than they are, they love with passion! Both of mine were deer heads too, I like the bigger snouts than the apple heads have. Beau will probably treat him like a little brother but best to be safe and sure. Sushi will get used to him, Lopez is now the "new kid on the block" and Sushi won't like him getting the attention. It all works out gradually. Congratulations on your adorable addition to your family! Hugs!

ReplyDeleteLynda he is so cute! Good luck with training him. We took in a kitty once and my dog at the time loved him and they got along so well. Lady licked him all the time and kitty would sleep between her legs for warmth. (((HUGS)))
