Large dogs and old=er people -----Lord Love A duck!

Just look at the colours--- It resembles a painting---  a "Fairy World"!----  If yu look closely at the lake, yu can see a reflection in the water of the coloured trees.

I am taking Himself grocery shopping this AM---First time he has gone into a grocery store in 2 yrs-- I must check the bank account ---make sure there is lots of da money-as I know he will buy everything-I'm not sure it is a good idea but--he does need to get out of the house.

Son #2, the Air Canada Pilot,  is winging his way to the Middle East, as I type-- He should be almost there. And tomorrow Son #3 and I will head down South to get a puppy, crazy as it sounds- Yesterday big Beau , Himself and I, took Beau to the new groomer--That is an adventure in itself!--At one point, Beau had the back window down and was drooling outside and panting and really in a turmoil!~  Himself rides "side saddle" beside me, but chooses to watch me drive, and not looking at what disaster is about to occur in the rear seat.

"You don't have to watch the road" I shouted at him--"Watch Beau!"---He replied, still looking at the road ahead, ""Give it--Drive faster"---and--that is how the journey  continued until we arrived at the groomers, exhausted---covered in Beau's fur, which was flying all over the vehicle- Needless to say, he doesn't go back till mid December --and even then, I am tempted to try to bathe him in out own tub--even in the cold!

Beau and a car is a very much like a "hopeless situation"---Lord love a Duck--No wonder we are trying for a smaller dog!

  1. Lake and trees are gorgeous! Sorry that Beau going in the car remains an undesirable adventure sigh. So the harness system doesn't work? At least Lopez will be more portable.
Yes, it will be good for Fred to get out of the house but as you said...prepare to spend more money LOL
    Have a great day. Hugs

  2. You live in such a beautiful spot. You must be excited to pick up Lopez and get to know him. It will be interesting to see how Beau reacts. Will be waiting to see pictures. Enjoy your trip tomorrow. Have a great day.

  3. Beautiful photo of your view. I could spend hours sitting there... sigh. Because of the warm and wet weather they are not predicting vivid colors here this year. The leaves are just starting to turn. Good luck with your new dog. I "downsized" too but to the 20-25 lb range. Is this the same kind of dog as your son has?? is that why you picked it? don't forget to buy it a winter coat!

  4. Be very careful going out . . most people are masking again in our stores even if they are vaccinated. Beautiful scenery you get to see every day. Have a nice ride tomorrow and good luck with the new dog. I can never see us with a wee dog.

  5. Good Morning. The sun is shining and it is going to be a beautiful day. Can you not use the harness for Beau when he is in the car? Can't wait to see pictures of this tiny wee dog tomorrow. Enjoy the trip and stay safe on the highway...in the rain?

  6. Your backyard scene is truly gorgeous, Lynda! I love the photo.
Tomorrow is a big day with you adding a new member to your home. Be sure to put on a photo and let us know how Beau takes to his new 'brother.' It's a shame you can't get something from your groomer or vet to calm Beau before his trips in the car, that would make the trip go better.
I know Fred will enjoy his walk around the grocery store and prepare for 'extras' jumping into your cart, lol. Hugs to you both.

  7. Another beautiful picture of your property! Be happy that Beau doesn’t have to travel now until December. My husband came shopping with me as well yesterday. I hurt my knee so he came to help me with bags etc and since he has a handicapped sign for his car I didn’t have as far to walk. He was pretty good at just letting me choose what we needed but he did throw in a bag of chips. Good luck on your trip tomorrow and be sure to have pictures for us. πŸ‘ πŸ•‍🦺

  11. A trip to the store is a real journey for you. I remember when my husband first retired he insisted on going to the grocery store with me. Let me tell you that you are right check that bank account and make sure there is plenty of money. They have no idea.

  12. I give Bear a bath on our back porch because he will not get in the tub and he is to big for me to pick him up and put him in it.

    Have a great Saturday

  13. My favorite place in the fall is one of our State Parks where you can see the fall colors for real, and in the reflection of the lake. It's been so long that I can't really remember which one it is, but I can see it in my mind. Funny about himself buying everything. My husband shops with me most of the time - it's his job to push the cart and remember what HE needs that he did not put on my list. So many times he's way behind me looking at this product or that and yes, we always spend more than when I go by myself and only buy what's on the list. But he is helpful! Hope your shopping trip turned out well.

  14. Beau can get the back window open? Maybe there's a child lock you can put on that, like from the front? I know a lot of vehicles have that. I'm glad you all got there in one piece, wow! Good luck tomorrow! Have fun! I'm excited for you and the family!

  17. Fall is painting a lovely picture in your area πŸπŸ‚ We're not quiet that far along here. I went out today shopping for some fall color ... pretty yellow mums for my pots out front. Hope you and Himself had a good trip grocery shopping. My husband loves to shop the snack/deli sections πŸ™πŸ˜‚ Have a safe trip to pickup your new furbaby tomorrow. Can't wait to hear what you think!

  18. Chihuahua's are scrappy so I hope all the pets get along. Besides they usually choose one person to be theirs and everyone else gets the cold shoulder or nip ya. Good luck.

  19. Some dogs never adapt to riding in a car. Fortunately, I have never had the problem with any of my dogs. I did have one that was terrified of thunder storms and even though she was a medium size (30 pounds) it was a challenge to get her through it. I do understand what you are going through with Beau. If you do try to bathe him yourself, you may need a very powerful blow drier to get is fur and skin dry. Your new wee one will be a piece of cake to bathe as he will fit in the kitchen sink so none of that bending over. Enjoy the rest of your evening.

  20. I remember washing my son's large hairy black retriever Sebastian after he had been sprayed by a "skunk" . I rubbed him with tomato juice to kill the terrible smell. it is much easier to wash Nemo, my daughters much smaller black Italian Greyhound. He has a nice shiny coat of short black hair that is easier to towel dry. You will enjoy your new smaller dog.

  21. We’re lucky; Cayenne just curls up and goes to sleep in the car. She is a coonhound so nothing needs to be done with the fur except vacuum it up under the couch and in the corners.

Fall colors are nice, aren’t they? This is my favorite time of year. πŸ™‚

  23. Wow! I would be very upset myself if I had a dog reacting like that on a drive to the groomer's. I had a short drive to the Cat groomer and it was not pleasant!(((HUGS))) Susiemt

  24. Your new baby prolly won't even need a groomer...if he will let you trim his nails. You do love your big Beau, though...

    Shopping with Himself is sure to be an adventure. Encourage him to choose nutritious stuff...{{{HUGS}}}

  25. Love the picture of the lake and trees. It is gorgeous. Not much happening in Toronto with the leaves yet. Be careful Beau doesn't try to get out of the car through the window. Hope the shopping trip went ok. Can't wait to see how you make out with the trip for Lopez. Good luck.

  26. Our little dog still send fur all over and can roll down the window if she wanted but she loves to "talk" to dogs in other cars through the safety of glass :-) Love the story of your "travels".

  27. My son's Carl is a very good car dog. Probably due to Son being a growly Alpha Male who trained him as a puppy. Carl loves it when someone sits in the back with him and he can lay his head on a lap.

You're going to love having a "little" dog, too. Their personalities are big even if their size is not.
