Himself woke me up at 3am--saying, ""Who on earth is calling you at 3am?"--Of course, I knew--so said, "You must know--It's Son#2, who is en route to-night to Korea-"--- Maybe Himself thought it was the Queen calling-----Who knows eh?--
And of course, I was so happy that son #2 sent his flight number and that he kept his Mother in mind because he knows that I track his flight--- In case you are wondering, he is over Alaska now, heading east.
Yesterday, Grandson --son of Son #4--- called me--"Gramma," he said, "You want me to cut your grass?"---- I was so happy!-- ---- So I drove in to pick him up--- and quick as a wink, he had it all done! We made a business deal--We agreed on a price-- this wonderful Grandson and I, for the rest of the summer], when school is out, he will cut ALL the grass--- the hill, the lake side, the septic bed and the front lawn --- I will do the weed whacking (cutting the jungle back)---and he will take care of the grass.---He made my day--
I hear that around noon, there will be some kind of announcement that people in Canada will get some sort of financial relief , due to the high cost of living, right now---I wonder what it will be?--- Will it pertain to Seniors , who are trying to make ends meet (Mom's expression)_on a fixed income?--- Our retirement savings are slowly going down which most of us have had to dip into these weird days. The cost of gasoline is atrocious --groceries are very high--Lord love a Duck!--- Even "I" wonder if I should get a job---?--- (AS if eh??)_ Too bad I don't get a salary for looking after Himself-- ( I talk about all this only to all of you!---- The majority of people just quit eating , to cut back on their money---)I just am not able to do that!
Anyway, Sadie is knocking at the door, --that wonderful beautiful, cleaning Lady--(who is really me!)- and I hear Lopez wanting to go out-- so--- offa here I go--and --until to-morrow--- "Keep yer Chin Up"--(Dad used to say that)---think happy thoughts--- dance--- and--if you see one--Hug a Pilot-- They have wonderful Moms you know!
I am researching depression era recipes. Thinking that might help! Maybe not the waistline!!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!---- Send us all some recipes---Lynda
DeleteSo nice that your grandson will cut your lawn this summer. It will free up some time for you and give him some spending money. A win win for you both. Son #2 is so thoughtful always letting you know where he is and when he will return and it is because he has a wonderful mom! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHe is good to let me know he Arrived--- but he just got there about an hour ago-- Lynda
DeleteAll great news! Woohoo! Your DS, the pilot, call. Your DGS taking care of your lawn. Canada's help to financial relief. Keep having an awesome day!
ReplyDeleteI love it when Son#2 calls to tell me he is there--Lynda
DeleteOh Lynda…THAT is THE best news! Wonderful grandson will cut your grass…woohoo!! A mutually beneficial business deal…I love it!
ReplyDeleteIt will certainly be interesting to learn exactly what kind of financial relief the Canadian government has in mind! Hope Fred is having a good day! ❤️ Eissa7
Well--- The govt are not giving us much--- but--I suppose every bit counts-- Lynda
DeleteOH my gosh! That’s a LOT of cargo being loaded onto his plane!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhh bless your Grandson! So glad you have a deal for grass cutting the rest of the summer. That’s one burden off your plate!
No relief in sight here for help w/thedost of living. **SIGH** It impacts the bottom line to the core! Sure am learning ways to make a penny squeak (my Dad used to say that!) Got chickens on sale (well . . . what would be considered a sale now-a-days) Made chicken soup, pulled chicken, chicken salad. Not bad. So we’ll have lots of chicken meals.
But . . . on the other hand, had to fill up DH’s gas tank. Lord! $5.14/gallon. Has to last us awhile.
Have a thankful Thursday!

Yu make my day--I don't feel so alone with the budgeting -- Lynda
DeleteWishing your son a safe trip! That is a good business deal for you and your grandson. Wonder if Himself thought you were getting a call from a male friend at 3 AM? Good thing he believed you this time. Hoping you get some rest. Are you able to read?
ReplyDeleteYes I read every night in bed--- but I did not hear Son#2's text-0-bur=t--I knew who it was right away-- He just got there about a half hr ago-- long trip-Lynda
DeleteYour pilot son is such a thoughtful man. I love that he calls and let's you know where he is. You raised great kids.
ReplyDeleteAND, its great news that you and your grandson reached a deal on mowing. You need the help and he likes money. Win win.
Not eating to stretch money would be hard to sustain. LOL. Were all doing our best to save where we can. It sure isn't easy. Sadly, I don't think its going to improve for quite some time. Nice to hear that Canadian citizens will receive a bit of financial help.
Still really HOT in St.Louis. There goes the utility bills but blessed to have air conditioning.
Enjoy your day. Play your piano
Hugs
The Gov't is not giving Srs much--- never enough---It's a challenge to make ends meet-Lynda
DeleteI think it's awesome that you struck a deal with your grandson. I have a neighbor kid I hire to do my mowing, and I think it's the best deal: I'd rather give money to an up and coming kid who I know is working for college funds than to a company, anyway. Plus it gives me the energy to go do something actually better for my own soul and body!
ReplyDeleteI am happy he will do it too Barb-- Lynda
DeleteGreat that your grandson is helping with the grass. You need the help considering you have so much of it. Works for both of you as he gets extra spending money. Son #2 is so good about keeping in contact with you on all his trips. Didn't hear what the government is going to give seniors - they never give us much! Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteNo--They Are not giving us enough--- and yes, Son#2 is a good guy--Lynda
DeleteMy first paid job was at age 11 in 1960 -- mowing about 1/2-1 acre for my Grandfther with a push mower with a dull rotary blade. My Grandfather was then 81 and followed me around with his cane pointing out each blade of grass that sprung back up so that I would fix it. For my hard work I was paid $1.
ReplyDeleteYU were paid a $1????-- That is bad!--- and poor yu, with him following yu--Lynda
DeleteThat was wonderful that your grandson cut your grass. The first time we had a lawn service do it, front and back in thirty minutes I was floored. It takes me hours to do it and I split it into two days.
ReplyDeleteI hope you get that relief from the government. In the states we all got the same amount whether you were a senior or not. So, praying you get it.
They are not going to give us much--- LOL--We need a lot more-Lynda
DeleteI'm so glad your grandson will take care of your lawn. That takes a huge burden off your shoulders. After my father passed away my twin boys would go once a week to take care of my mom's yard. It certainly wasn't as big as yours but she surely appreciated it.
ReplyDeleteI will appreciate this too-lynda
Deletewonderful of Grandson to offer to help you...ironic the adults have not stepped up but the kiddoes have.........life is sure strange.
DeleteHope Himself is having a good week so far....
Gas and food are atrocious and our whitehouseidiot is not helping any at all....he's the one who caused insulin to go back up....this world is in a mess.
Aren't grandsons wonderful?
