Justa few thoughts this morning-

Stick to my budget---it is hard---  because , as the bells jingle, and the closer we get to Christmas day--and the carols are playing, it would be so easy to just let that budget go to the wind--Stuff like--"I'll deal with it later"--but--I know--- LATER will not be greater---It's difficult-- because I have always given--given given--mostly to the grown kids-- and definitely the Grandkids--and--  I check the bank account daily, hoping for a miracle and some sweet person would have put a million dollars into the account----- IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN__

The TV and the radio do not talk about seniors living on a fixed income--

So----All the above thoughts go thru my brain these few days , just before the big day--my thoughts  now are---I AM ALIVE---  I AM NOT ILL--  (I hope!)_on my 80th birthday I learned how to use my new EGO snowblower (NEVER did I EVER think I could do that--)

Are you asking Santa for something special?--I guess I'd settle for "strength-"- to keep going--to get through  the difficult days , when Himself is having a struggle--I would love "time"--more time to sit at the piano-and I really am blessed that my grown children are helping me, in their own ways--

Strength --Health-- Smiles--

I think Santa wants to give us the above----

  1. Yes, Lynda, I understand. I've been having to tamp down the desire to "do more" and zip up that wallet... done for now! Because there are bills to be paid, coming due in January, and I'm still recovering financially from Rubia's surgery in November. We all have to do it, and our loved ones *do* understand, even the littles.

I'm impressed with your learning the snow-blower use! And it wouldn't matter if you were a spring chicken, I'd still be impressed.

Hope you don't get hit too bad with this big storm / cold wave they area talking about around here... maybe you are far enough East to be a little protected from this one. You get plenty of that cold and snow stuff as it is!

  2. Yes, it is hard for those of us who are on a fixed income. I save and save all year long and then it seems November & December really take it's toll on us. Of course, me needing a new (and unplanned for) computer gave a hit. The gifts are getting smaller and smaller and I hate that but we need to be able to eat again next month!

  3. Well, I asked Santa for me to hit the Jackpot but I didn't! It's difficult to deal with a fixed income. I'm there too.

  4. Lynda, I stand right with you on the fixed income issue - the government just does not give us seniors enough to live on, especially these days when everything has gone up in price! I'm still giving my usual for my children, younger ones in family.

I'd like Santa to bring me strength too - strength to handle daily pain in my back & leg and strength to handle how my body is unable to walk hardly these days. Strength and Faith can do so much for us Lynda.

Love and Hugs to you, Fred, Beau, Sushi and Lopez xoxo

  5. Bravo to you for managing that darned snowblower on your own. You are realistic about the budget, I’ve just ordered some extras for grandson. His 12th birthday is Christmas Eve. His Dad, my son’s birthday is Christmas Day. So I must give for those, too, lol. Baking a cake for my son, so he gets some attention too. Stay warm, hoping your power stays on. Our power grid in Texas is not really fixed yet. The leaders have already reserved dates in Mexico for themselves.

  6. I like that . . . . later will not be greater. AMEN! ON fixed incomes, you gotta really prioritize and stay strong with putting the priorities first, the wants @ the bottom of the list. Hard!

    HUGS and stay strong.

  7. All I want is more strength and the ability to walk so I can get things done. The things we want as we get older! I'm glad your sons are helping more these days. And that you have that lighter snowblower. It's good that you are keeping the finances in mind during this time of spending more. It's getting more difficult to do these days. It's really good that you are as strong as you are in so many ways.

  8. Lynda, right as usual. I am on a budget, too, and trust I will have enough to get me through until my social security check comes the middle of January. I got the important stuff: cat food, litter and coffee :-)
Music is important to both of us. Couldn't live without it...or a pet. Right now a cat.
    Congratulations on getting a handle on that snowblower. That's quite a feat for an 80 years young woman! {{{HUGS}}}

  9. Yes, we all must watch our budget. As for Christmas, most of our children are making better money than we are and have everything they need or want. And the grandchildren are doing just fine. So, my wish for Christmas is not for gifts, it is for time spent with loved ones. So, close the wallet and enjoy someone's company instead. A cup of tea and a homemade goodie say love in any language. Enjoy the season!

  10. Yes Lynda. I have to watch the budget and I had to cut back. My son makes more money than we do and its not about gifts. We have to adjust our thoughts about giving. Love is expressed in ways other than Christmas gifts.
Congrats on mastering that snow blower. You are amazing.
Continued strength and good health to you is my wish for you.
Take time to play your piano.
    Hugs dear Lynda.

  11. I think we all need to realize it is not about the gifts, but the time we can spend with family.....
