'Twas a day before Christmas---

You have to laugh at this wee fellow !--Whatta happy  guy! ---  This is a "later than late" blog because  I had to shovel, after the huge storm we are still in by the way--then I had to break out the snowblower (and I am 80 yrs old!)---and I blew the driveway and out beyond the gate as the snowplough had gone by in the night---  a little old Lady, in the dark, blowing snow--"ME!"----- but--  Son#1 and Son#3 were here yesterday to dig us out--- There was SO MUCH SNOW !

I took Himself, and Lopez, and went to Foodland and bought all kinds of things that I  intend to munch on over the holidays--so--if we get snowed in, think of me, sitting here --eating--LOL----I bought nuts, candies , a watermelon, pastries ----cookies--and a Turkey which I took to Son#3 to cook on Xmas Day--

The stores were crowded this AM---- but--- they will closed soon-- and I am so happy about that! Did you all do any shopping to-day?--  Are you spending Xmas Day in your home--or are you travelling?--

Where ever you are, look out for this jolly soul-I hear he has already  visited several countries around the world-- You do know that he lives very close to us, here in the North--Sometimes I even see him on our dock---in the summer tho- Hugs to yu all--- --Ho Ho Ho----  Make it a day full of JOY!

  2. Hello Lynda, We are getting the storm here too. Many parts of the highway are closed and the plows have even been pulled. Most of the stores are closed and lots of events cancelled. Many of the churches have cancelled Christmas services. Even our front door is snowed in half way up the door. Happy to say we celebrated our Christmas two weeks ago with the family all here. Wishing you and yours a warm, snuggly and safe Merry Christmas. Hugs Willow

  4. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Mine will be quiet and I may get out and do some shoveling as we have had lots of snow and I have a 2ft drift between me and my car. On the plus side it is actually a plus +1F (-17C) which we haven't had this week.

    1. This was from MT-MOONCHASER when we had Spark. I'm not sure what happened as I thought I had selected my Google account, but maybe I needed to sign in before I posted.

  5. You are a hardy bunch, up North, dealing with storms every year! I just blogged about my today. I went to the grocery store to get bananas, and thought of you. I also baked cookies because tomorrow I'm going to dinner across town at the Mythical Son's house, and I simply must take his favorites.

It's been brutal cold down here for a couple of days but today we had a heat wave all the way up to 14 above (F), which on the C scale would be minus 10. But it felt warm by comparison to yesterday and even more so than Thursday!

Stay safe, whether home or over at son #3's with that turkey dinner, and have a Merry Christmas in your heart, no matter how you end up spending it!

  6. Be careful out there with that blower in the dark. Glad sons helped with snow.
I had to go out for bananas today. Store wasn't as bad as I expected but I didn't have a lot on the list. I didn't buy goodies as I'd eat them. This was my first day out in 2 days. It got up to 20 above F...a heat wave. We'll be spending Christmas alone as hubs has compromised immune system so it will be very quiet. Enjoy turkey dinner at sons.
    Take care
    Hugs

  7. Dear Lynda, better late than never as to the time of the blog. I'm surprised that you don't sometimes not have the time to do it!
I am happy you survived the snow...so far, anyway, and that you have big, strong sons to help you.
I went to my daughter, son-in-law and grandson's home about 45 minutes away (Savage, MN). The highway was pretty well cleared, but there was lots of wind. A couple times it made me swerve.
Cindy served a big ham dinner with candies sweet potatoes, 'funeral potatoes', broccoli, dinner rolls, jello salad with fruit and roasted chestnuts. We had all kinds of home made cookies and candies that I brought, (courtesy of a friend). She sent me home with leftovers for tomorrow and a hunk of chocolate cake that was frozen on their deck.
Wonder how much weight we will gain? But it will be tasty, that's for sure.
Have a great day tomorrow with your family...are you sharing some turkey with Lopez, Beau and Sushi?

  8. My plans have changed, as my boyfriend lives in Columbus (Ohio) and me in Newark, Ohio, and the roads out here are rather bad, and he has to go the back roads as his car is only running on 3 cylinders right now, so he's decided he's staying put. I don't drive back roads OR freeways, so it's just me this Christmas, and I'm fine with that. I live alone, and I'm used to being alone, and I'd much rather people be safe than drive to squire little ole me around. I'm going to settle in with some Christmas movies and relax. I have my Jake doggo with me and I went out today to buy him his Christmas, and to the grocery and pharmacy, and what the druggist said resonated with me. He asked if the roads were still bad and I said yes, and he said he knew so many who were going to attempt traveling and he feared many would be injured, and that struck me. Jesus is the reason for the season, anyway.

Take care, and be careful out there!

    Merry Christmas, all!

  9. Lynda, please be careful with all that snowblowing. As you said you are 80 and shouldn't be doing that. Let your grandsons help your sons, PLEASE. We got lucky with the snow. We ended up not getting much snow. We've had lots of wind which froze a bunch of stuff. and made the road icy etc. for a while. Merry Christmas to you, Fred and the fur babies.

  10. Christmas Blessings for you and your loved ones.

Exceptionally cold here in Central Texas as it is in most of the States. We don't have clothing for such low temps to hunkered down in our Central heat with fingers crossed that our power grid holds up. At least it's not the snow and ice that accompanied dthe power grid crash last year.

  11. Not quite so cold today in north Texas. So far, power stayed on, some folks had less natural gas issues. Went to son’s house, grand son turned 12. He loved his gifts, Legos! Had our exchange and good Tamale dinner. Sunday they come here, German frankfurters and Birthday cake for son, who will be 44. So glad you can manage that snowblower, what a trooper you are! Careful out there!
