Follow your brain---

February ---the first day of a new month--and it is raining outside---AND,--to-morrow is Ground Hog day-
-My sister just informed me --"only 7 weeks till Daylight savings time"---What a  wonderful winter--short----never sweet---wet this year--lotza fog -- drizzle---!---It just seems like a "wet Winter"---at least in our area--The lake is not totally frozen---no fishing shacks out on the lake yet---  the ski hill had been blowing snow and now we have rain which will melt all their work--

---So far, I have been able to take care of the driveway--with some help from Son#1 after a big storm--which has happened maybe 3 times--We do have a lot of ice---seems like an icey winter--Am I complaining?---
anyway--Feb 1st---  Ground hog day to-morrow--Valentine's Day coming up--and  then--SPRING---
To-day is hair day-- I do resemble the Lady in the picture--

Sadie , that cleaning Lady-, who , well yu know, is really me---was here again this morning- and managed to get the front hallway  all spruced up and cleaned a bathroom---plus part of the kitchen--That was between taking the 2 boys out--( as in dogs)---

My sister sent me the picture below--  It was a bridge, above our cottage, when we were growing up,  in Port Stanley--Yu can see how  unstable it was, but we would climb the hill behind our cottage and love to run across , like the children in the picture-and the bridge would roll side to side  and shake a lot---  and we felt like we were in a jungle--

When yu were growing up, did your parents have a cottage?--- I believe Mom and Dad purchased that cottage , in the summers when Polio ran rampant, and Mom felt  that by getting us away from the city we would not get Polio-and we didn't ---  I remember listening to the radio, and daily , it was announced how many people had died that day from Polio----mostly children--I have told yu before how much we loved living on  Lake Erie --riding our bikes all over Port Stanley , like "Hooligans"--
My older sister and I had to string all the washing out  and then we were off--the whole day was ours--
Memories eh?--
so----  back to reality here--- We are strong women---and  our strength has developed over time---because , we have standards and boundaries----  My Mom was a strong person---She was a school  teacher and she raised 5 children---

This morning I sat at the piano-It is a good way to begin a day---  a little music puts a spring in your step--
------------------------------just get out there and do your thing----------------------------------------
Enjoy this day---- make to-day special----smile at little old-er women -----  it might be ,----me!

  1. It's Kathy. We are having another sunny day so Daisy and I are off for a walk shortly. I love the photo of you two on the little bridge. We also had a cabin on a lake when I was growing up. We used to spend the summers there and my dad would come up on the weekends. But once I was in high school I didn't want to be away from my friends for that long. Sometimes I get really tired of being a strong woman! That's how I'm feeling today - I hope getting out in the sunshine might help. Have a wonderful day today!

  2. Good morning! Happy February! We have sunshine here in Ohio! It's been forever and I am SO happy! It is 42 degrees. No, we never had a cottage growing up. That would have been fun. My grandma had a neighbor that had a very nice doll house that we played in a lot. It was like a building but decorated to be a play house. Good for you getting so much accomplished already. You are always on it. You can relax and enjoy your hair day. What a nice way to start your day playing your piano. I know the dogs enjoyed it, too. Have a wonderful day!:)

  3. Lynda, you are the strongest woman, I am sure!
I love the memes, as always, but I disagree with the last one!
Yes, it has really been a strange winter...all over North America, at least. Where my doc son lives in CA, there are heavy rains, hail, flooding, too, I guess.
Chicago is not quite as bad as here near Minneapolis, we are just a skosh better than you. It still gets cold at night, but during the day it warms up almost like it was March already.
Soon March will be coming with St Paddy's Day. I am mostly from the British Isles...Scotland, Ireland and Wales.
Soon then will be April Fool's Day (I need to look up the origins of that one). After that...spring flowers, buds on trees, my lilacs!
Since I was a child, my favorite day of the year was not Christmas...it was the day I first spotted the buds on the trees...and robins!
We aren't anxious at all, are we?
Glad your son is there to help you when it snows a lot.
You will love your outing today for your hair. You may accomplish a couple errands, too.
Send Sadie here when she's done with you today.
I heated my cooling coffee in the microwave, took it out to put it in my thermal cup, when setting it on the counter I MISSED! The whole up of hot coffee all over the counter, the floor and its mats, my walker, etc.
Sigh. I guess we all goof up like that sometimes. It's part of being human.
Enjoy your day, Lynda. May your pets and people behave as you'd like...and, oh! Does music ever sooth your soul. I always have my fave country music playing on the radio near the computer.
My AARP magazine had an article about how music from our youth even helps people with dementia. If I can find an on-line link, I will send it to you via Messenger.

  4. Hi Lynda, it's Marge (Margene) in St.Louis.
Very mild day here 65F. No sun. Yes, tomorrow is Ground Hog Day but basically it's 6 more weeks of winter ..shadow or not.
I liked your jungle adventure bridge story
No, didn't have a cabin. Parents had property with a fishing lake but I didn't enjoy it due to snakes.
    Enjoy hair day.
Hoping your done with shoveling. Glad son helped when needed.
    Gotta stay strong...no other choice.
Loved that you played your piano this morning.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs dear lady

  5. Oh yes, 50 days til Spring. Can’t wait. Hope the Groundhog agrees! – spring sooner than later!

Enjoy hair day! YOU DESERVE that.

That is such a cute picture of Big Beauy and wee little Lopez! They loo like they’re getting along there.

OMG! I may have enjoyed crossing that bridge as a kid, but . . . not now! LOL A kids life . . . . waiting to grow up then realizing . . . wait a minute . . . it wasn’t so bad being a kid. This adulting is hard work!

We ARE strong, and we learned that from our Moms, and they learned it form THEIR Moms.

BWAHAHA – I think maybe that saying to follow your brain because your heart is an idiot could be true.

Here’s to a terrific Tuesday. And a Happy February!

  6. I wish I had the big, thick hair of the gal in the picture! Hope you got to go tend to yours. Nice old picture of that hanging bridge, wonder if a new, modern one was built, so it is safe for those who live there now. You are kuckt to have had a cottage. We were lucky to come to America in 1950 from Berlin, after a lot of it was destroyed after the war. Take care. Ethelmerz.

    1. Yu came from Berlin???--Oh ,y--so many books I read from there and the war--and, yes we were very fortunate to have Mom and Dad's cottage--and it was a huge part of growing up-- It wasn't a fancy place , but it was by the water and black and white TVs--and fresh fish-- and bonfires in the evening-Lyndn

  7. I love the saying at the end about following your brain as your heart is an idiot. How true so much of the time. This winter is great with not being so cold although I don't like the ice - too dangerous. The picture of the two dogs in one bad with Lopez kind of snuggled in to big Beau is adorable. Your picture looks pretty good too. Hope you had a good visit at the hairdressers. Have a good night. Brenda
