Always believe something wonderful is about to happen!

Last evening, I took Lopez, the chihuahua ( who is a lot of work)--carried him upstairs to our bedroom and put him in his new wonderful crate--which he seems to love! He usually settles in and goes right to sleep--We have a wee heater near his crate--as our patio door is very drafty---( he does not keep his covers on )-- He sleeps till 5am--and then,  just like an alarm clock, he is awake--and out we go--with his parka on--(which is not easy to get on him)-and the temperature this AM, was minus 27.5 C--Horrible! -----
--  while I was doing all this , the man of the house, for some reason, took a  box of milk from the frig and dropped it--all over the kitchen--  I was upstairs , so that is what I found this AM--milk splashed everywhere!

Anyway, Beau and I, the big German, went outside finally and shovelled  the dog pen to the basement  and poor Beau, because as we  came back in, his feet were frozen---  He had to hobble in beside me--So the cold temperatures here are really not fit for man, nor beast!

And it's hair day, so this afternoon, I shall get outta this house and gab to some Ladies who will be there--Praise the Lord! ---  Himself will dog sit-- (which he does not enjoy!)

So, life is good! The sun is out--I made soup for lunch-- No snow is falling-- We are not sick----and I am trying to count our blessings-- I hope your day goes well--I had a lovely letter from Sister Mary, a great Lady who many years ago, house- sat when we left Son #2 the Pilot here, when he was in grade 13---and they got along well!-(WE were visiting my Mom and Dad in Florida)-

I shall think good thoughts to-day--

  3. That is very cold. Perhaps you could get some booties for Beau to wear on days like this. I have seen dogs with them but not sure if Beau would accept them. Is there some way to seal the patio door where the cold is coming in. A wee story about spilled milk....One day I sent my oldest DD who was 16 at the time and had just gotten her license, to buy a jug of milk. Upon arriving home as she stepped into the kitchen she dropped the 2 quart jug and milk went everywhere. She stared to cry expecting to get scolded but I just laughed and said "Honey, there is no use crying over spilled milk". Soon we were all laughing and that day has never been forgotten. Thanks for the memories.

  5. awwwww, poor Beau. I try to put boots on Miss Lilly but . . . she really is not a fan, so it's a struggle. We were @ -18C this morning. Definitely not fit for man nor beast!

Enjoy your hair pampering. You deserve it!

And sorry DH spilled the milk. I imagine he was none-too-happy about that.

HUGS and here's to remembering that we still have good things . . . . like we're on this side of the ground, right!

  6. It's cold here too but nothing like what you're experiencing Poor Beau! Sometimes when Daisy goes out in this very cold weather she forgets and by the time she is coming in she limps - after only about 2 minutes. Sometimes being a doggie mom is hard!

  9. Poor Beau. It was in the negatives (F) here this morning, and The Prisoner still insisted on going outside. Silly cat! What we go through for our animals, Lynda!

Sending you wishes for warmth and safety!

  11. Right now it's -16 feeling like -24 here and tonight it's going to be even colder. I feel sorry for you guys with your weather. My dog will not wear boots and hates her coat. Since it's Toronto there is salt on the road and sidewalk so there are times she has to hold one up because of salt. So poor Beau and Lopez as it's way worse there. Have a good night.

  12. Something wonderful IS always about to happen...let's always hope it's for us!

You might try putting petroleum jelly on Beau's (and maybe Lopez's) paw pads before they go out. It really helps protect them.

Glad you got to chat with some other ladies, as I am sure Sushi is not much of a conversationalist.

    That milk spill sounds like a minor disaster. Now you may need to shop for more than just bananas! {{{HUGS}}}

  14. Hope your hairdresser was in a good mood. Any good gossip? Too bad about the spilled milk, poor Himself, he must have felt bad. Those super cold temps are an awful thing.

  15. I feel bad for himself and the spilled milk. I'm sure you had it to clean up but accidents happen. I love your positive attitude. Hope is such a powerful emotion. Grace from MD.
