Whatta crazy world!

Son #2 will be back to Toronto to-day--Here it is minus 20C---  SO COLD! ---Little wee Lopez  went out on his parka and did his business--He is a real  trouper! ---

I am hoping to pick up himself's one hearing aid which was sent away to be repaired-- then go and get groceries-- IF IT IS SAFE to do in the cold--We are out of bananas--

Yesterday son #3 and son#4 tried to get their ice hut off our front lawn and tow it out onto the lake so they can ice fish--but---  they tested the ice on the lake and decided it was too slushy--so--they will try again next weekend--The ice on the lake they said was just over 6 inches deep--  not enough ice thy felt-- Soon the ice will be 3-to 4 ft deep--a lot better--and safer--- It is supposed to be very cold all week so that will help got make ice.

These are some of our Grandchildren waiting to ice fish- When the ice hut is out there, they build a fire in it for warmth-- This lake is very deep and about 10 miles long--

As I type here, Sushi, the cat who came in from the cold, is chasing her ball all over this study--

-an old picture of  a Grandchild with Coal and Tess, on the lake, building a skating rink-

I am off of here--hopefully to get on my mission , to find bananas-- --I must double mask and hold my breathe if anyone gets too close to me--Whatta crazy world eh?--Lord love a Duck!

  1. Good news on Lopez.
I'm sure it will be better for you when Fred gets his hearing aid back.
It will only take a week for the ice to be 4 or 5 feet thick vs. the current 6 inches? Wow. Sitting on ice in a shack doesn't appeal to me.
Be safe in your pursuit of bananas.
    Have a good day.

  2. When I was a teen my dad would make a skating rink in the back yard. It was so much fun and it brings back many happy memories. Enjoy your day!

  3. Public Health Department here also advised face shields or wrap-around glasses like one gets after eye surgery which guards again the virus getting in through the eye membranes. One more thing to add to the list of preventative measures that might help.

  4. Not far behind you! We’re @ -16C. BRRrrrr. So glad that little Lopez did his job outside! Wonderful!

So did Miss Lilly. She REALLY did not want to go out there. Explained that I didn’t either, but we were bundled up and would do it and come back in. She was quick! LOL

Awwwww, Sushi is a lucky girl to be indoors, right!

Holy smokes! I am so cold looking @ your granddaughter w/o a coa on and all that snow! BRRRrrrr.

Good luck finding bananas. Stores are looking pretty sparse here!

  5. Don't know why it is the bananas are always what run out first, but it happens here that way, too! Hope you have a safe and successful trip to acquire them and the "hearing helper" for Fred! ((Hugs))

  6. It is snowing here too but not too bad and only -11C. You would never get me sitting in a hut out on the ice, not at any time in my life. Even though we are both in Ontario, I guess that's why you live in the North and I live in the South. LOL

  7. Hope you get the hearing aid ok, and your magical bananas. I imagine your sons need to be very careful of where that ice shack is placed. Do they catch a lot of fish there, for everyone? I would worry about something happening out there, not used to that. Stay safe!

  8. Glad you're finally getting the hearing aid back. Hope it works ok. Good for Lopez going out in this weather. Sure is cold there. It's gonna be pretty cold here too - about -20 with the wind chill. Good time for the pilot to go to Hawaii. Better than those others going ice fishing - brrrr!

  9. I hope you found your bananas. My husband went out yesterday to pick up a few things and the fresh fruits and vegetables were almost bare! Good thing we have lots of frozen! I'm glad your sons decided to wait if they felt the ice was not thick enough. There is always some idiot around here who thinks they can drive their big truck on the ice only a couple weeks after the freeze. Inevitably, they end up in the lake!!!

  10. Brrr. I hope you found bananas. I usually keep a couple of kind of frozen berries in the freezer in case I run out of fresh fruit before I need to go to the grocery store. Happy Monday!

  11. Your wee Lopez is finally getting it! I am very happy for him...and you.

Still cold here in Minnesota, too, but at least not a negative temp.

I love your photo at the end. It's a Mr. Rodgers type comment. Did your kids watch Mr. Rodgers' Neighborhood?

I (and probably the rest of the world) also enjoy the photos of your family.

    Have a safe and happy week ahead, Lynda. Hope Himself's hearing aid will be working well. {{{HUGS}}}

  14. I can't imagine ice fishing! I did it with my brother when I was a kid, but even back then I though he was crazy for doing anything like that! Too cold! (((HUGS)))
