Have a great day-

It is time to rise--a new day has begun--a cold day too--but, we do have sun--and this morning, when out with Lopez and big Beau, there was a bird chirping, "Pretty-Pretty--Pretty"--I wonder what that bird is?-- I couldn't see it.

This is April 20---the anniversary  of Apollo 16, landing on the moon--Remember that?----It is also when Danica Patrick became the first Woman to win an Indy Car Race.---- Adolf Hitler, was born on April 20th, 1889, in Austria. He  and his wife had 3 children, who all died in infancy-

My brother called last evening, several times--( the brother who is in the Long Term Care facility ).It is quite a distance from here. He was begging me to go and get him--which is not possible-- I did speak to his one son who sent his brother over to talk to him and they  have convinced him to give this care facility a couple of weeks trial--and, my brother has decided to do this--(for now)----The nurse on the phone was very pleasant-- I believe it is a good place for him-- large-- very clean from what I can see, and he has a private room--They have his meds all figured out and that is a huge plus  for him, as he had been taking all the meds for the week at once--He was  so confused!

The whole thing is hard to watch, for me, from a distance-- I just know that I cannot take care of him-- Old age is tough sometimes--

and---  there are times, one needs to just  listen to the music--play the piano--  and sing to or heart's content--It revives the soul for sure--

AND---- This is HAIR DAY--my favourite day---maybe get out some of those summer clothes---

--laugh a lot---Life should not always be so serious---Lighten up---Look at the good side of living--

Get out there with a friend perhaps---

  1. It's Kathy. I'm proud of you for knowing your limits. You already have yourself and himself to take care of, that is a handful. After my father passed away we wanted my mom to live in a senior facility. She didn't need care but I worried about her being in her home all alone. She didn't carry around her cell phone like I asked. We were all set to move her in and she refused! I understand but I think I would want to be somewhere where I could have other people around. We went shopping in the rain today - not fun!

    1. Hi Kathy-- It seems my brother is happier now--I think them giving the meds to him has helped him. He called to-night and said he liked it in there--went to a movie--and he said a school band came in at noon and played for them-He said that yes, he will stay-- There isa god in Heaven-Lynda

  2. My older sister who was divorced moved in to take care of my Mom in her last couple of years . . . it took the pressure off the rest of us girls. We took turns going there and giving my sister a break for a week or so. I have 2 sisters . . . my brother thought it was girls work to take care of Mom. Our weather was great last week but this week is colder and rain off and on.

  3. I am also glad that you’ve made up your mind to not look after your brother. Don’t let him wear you down with all the phone calls. You have enough to look after with himself & the fur babies. And remember you ate moving. He will settle in & it would help if his sons were around more! Have a good day getting you hair done. Then relax. Brenda

  5. Lots going on in history on this date!

Glad that your one nephew was able to talk to your brother and convince him to give the care home a try. Fingers crossed. (((HUGS))) and definitely, be gentle with yourself, because you have enough on your plate right now. **SIGH**

Hope that your hair day is recharging for you. You deserve to be pampered.

  6. Please remember that these older relatives are not at full capacity to make decisions of where to live, regardless of what they say. You do not have to pick up the phone everytime they call, some places do not let them call for the first few weeks, so they can get used to their new existence. My mother was so happy at her assisted living, things to do, people to talk with, etc. She was there about 5 years, passed away at 102, was treated very well.

  7. Lynda, that 'fat' lady in crops with spike heels and her midriff showing is HILARIOUS! Ya know, she probably thinks she looks great, and that's as it should be.
We are 40'sF cloudy and rainy. We need that moisture, though, now that all our snow has melted.
Glad you'll get out of the house today. What a relief!
Friday the doc told me I should be wearing compression socks. I got out some I had for my flight last year. What a difference. They feel great! I am just thinking how hot they'll feel when the thermometer is in the 90s...and now I can't wear sandals. Don't need to paint my toe nails now!
My friend downstairs gave me a large bowl of homemade beef stew. That's what I'll have for supper. She just has carrots, potatoes and onions. I will add peas and corn.
Thanks for all the info on today's date. You must do lots of research before you blog.
I am happy it seems your brother is giving his facility a chance. He has to take his meds properly. Maybe that will even help with his confusion.
When I got my lab results, my A1C is almost where it shouldn't be and my glucose is up. Except for an occasional restaurant meal or gift like my friend just gave me...I am going to go back to the plant based (vegan) diet my doctor son recommends. And if you want to know where my protein will come from...it's from the same sources the animals use!

  8. Lots happened in history on this date. Interesting.
Goodness Lynda. Your brother is calling a lot. You might have to set your own boundaries if the frequent calling and begging you to take care of him continues. I do hope he settles down. You can't help him so I hope he gets acclimated and gives this place a chance.
    Enjoy hair day.
    Hugs

  9. Hope it was a good "hair day". I feel for you, being far from your brother and unable to take him on (you have your hands full already! Sending good vibes your way. When we get "old-er" sometimes it seems like history gangs up on us, landing many events on the same "date" across the years.

  10. Marti here. This afternoon I've spent trying to better learn how Medicare works. I FINALLY got my Medicare card in the mail, and have an appt with a benefits manager next week to help me pick a Part B and decide between regular Medicare and Medicare Advantage, I think that's what you call it. I have a LOT of meds I take, and that must be covered.

It's been a lovely day here, 82 degrees, and brilliant sunshine! Tomorrow it all goes south, though. It will rain in the afternoon and only be in the low 50's or 40's by the weekend. Boo!

Hope you had a good hair day!
