WE HAVE RAIN-----It will melt the last of the snow-- It is overcast--and cool--- but--I feel there is hope--Spring is somewhere around here-- We shall make to-day ridiculously amazing--- won't we?-
Before I get off on a tangent about anything-I must let yu know that yesterday, getting Himself to the Hospital to see an ENT specialist , went well- He needed a wheel chair, of course-- which he will need all the time now, to walk any distance-- but it went well-- Everyone was most kind to him--He put his Health card in a pocket and couldn't find which pocket (men have too many pockets anyway)--but the woman in admitting found his info in her computer -- (I wanted to hug her!)----Eventually I got him on the elevator and up we went to the Day Clinic--and after a short wait, we met the ENT Lady Dr., who was ever so nice to him---She examined his throat and found that one of the vocal chords was stuck in place-- open--There are 2 vocal cords--she said most people that this happens to, end up getting pneumonia because they aspirate food etc into the lung--but-- that has not happened to him--
No polyps --no cancer-- (That was a relief for Himself)_and she can fix that vocal cord with some special glue-in the OR--- but with a local freezing--hopefully next time she is in town-
-so, all went well-
It took us the whole morning- but was such a relief that he might get his voice back -- When that vocal cord is open, he loses air--making it difficult for him to talk-- she told us it was a result of him having Covid last June-
Life is good isn't it?--Even at almost 95!--
Last evening my brother called from his LTC place---There is no phone in his room but someone there , told me it is no problem to reach him on their phones-----He seems more content there--I wish that we lived closer--- but--- "that's the way it is"---He has 4 sons-- sons don't see what a Dad needs-- If he only had a daughter, the daughter would step in-- but--- no daughter--- He said he only has 1 shirt-- LOLOLOL--- but--he has no idea of a size--I told him if he can find the size I will send him a couple new Polo shirts--Poor guy eh?--How can anyone ever have only one shirt?--
Anyway--It is a new day--- and I must get busy here--I certainly enjoyed all your comments to yesterday's blog----
------------"Keep your chin up" for sure--- and I know that you will be strong!
So glad there is a light at the end of the tunnel for Himself and his speaking. About your brother, could you call the desk and ask them what size they think he would take in a shirt? Send him a surprise package. Even if he has more now, a new one always feels great and brightens the day.
ReplyDeleteI believe I will have to call the staff at the LTC place my brother is in--I think he is very confused-Lynda
DeleteSo happy everything went well for you yesterday with the visit to the ENT. And glad to hear that your brother is doing so much better! Funny that he thinks he only has one shirt, but dementia does that to them. My grandmother thought that people were stealing her clothes, especially her sweaters. Loved the ocean poster.....so true. Life can be amazing if we let it!
ReplyDeleteYu know, I do agree--He probably imagines that he only has one shirt--He gets so confused-Lynda
DeleteThose wonderful people who work in reception. Like the people who wait on us at the Chemist (Pharmacy) ... they all are pretty good at making our lives so much easier. I've rarely ever had a grouchy one but have always been patient and kind because other people sometimes aren't kind to staff (I've never understood that). I'm delighted that only a bit of paste is needed to fix Himself's vocal cords. And thank goodness he didn't get pneumonia! Your poor brother. Those sons of his probably never gave shirts a second (or first!) thought! Maybe one of the nurses next time you call there can find out his size for you. One of the places Rod stayed at had a washing machine and clothes that were donated so patients could wear a shirt - or pants that belonged to the hospital but it helped make things easier for them to transition back to something familiar. Those who were getting better helped with the chores - such as running the washing machine or hanging up the laundry, or folding. I thought it was really clever and good for those who needed to relearn things as well. It was a good day - a bit cold and overcast and looked like it had rained when I went out to the end of the drive and back, but the rest of the day went well. I got a leaky tap fixed in my laundry room without it costing both arms and both legs. I was very happy!
ReplyDeleteI bet that place where my brother is, has extra clothing also--It must be donated also!--Yes, it rained here all day--off and on--- Lynda
DeleteIt's Kathy. I'm so glad yesterday's appointment went well and the doctor can help himself get his voice back. We had rain a good part of yesterday and the forecast says today too but so far no rain. I want to take Daisy for a walk but am afraid once I get out there then the rain will come. Maybe we'll just take a chance! Have a good day, Lynda.
ReplyDeleteLopez didn't mind the rain to-day--- I did tho--LOL-- Lynda
DeleteYes, raining here, too. But supposed to mix w/snow later. UGH.
ReplyDeleteOH goodness! So one vocal cord stuck. So glad he has gotten aspiration pneumonia! Well, I hope that Himself doesn’t have to wait to long to have that vocal cord glued. Imagine that! GLUE. And surely never heard that as a side effect of Covid (til now).
Glad you spoke to your brother and he seems content. One shirt?? Lord. That would be a challenge.
Hugs

You know Barb, that brother is so mixed up, I never know what to believe--and his sons are kinda useless-- Too bad he doesn't live closer--Lynda
DeleteGlad that all went well at the Ent clinic & himself will get his voice back soon.your brother must have more that one shirt. Four sons & no one is helping out! Aside from that he seems to be settling in! Raining here today too & tomorrow. Have a good day. Brenda
ReplyDeleteBrenda-It rained here ALL: day-- Lynda
DeleteLynda, I am so happy that things went well for Himself and that you know what the issue is now.
ReplyDeleteIt's cool here, too. Rain due starting this afternoon and continuing on and off all night and for tomorrow.
Have you been in connection with your nephews? Do they ever visit or call their dad? They may know the size of shirt he needs. Has he started getting cards yet?
We have karaoke tonight with our favorite deejay. I am picking up a friend in a neighboring town first. We're going to Culver's for a fish dinner before we sing. Do you have Culver's near you?
I got a $41 and change check from the government for my travel pay to the VA health center. I thought they'd deposit it right in my checking account. It was a nice surprise. This was the first time I have qualified for that pay as my income went down this year.
I haven't heard of any more covid for a while. I have two friends who are under the weather, though. It is said that a virus and the stomach flu are 'going around.' I continue in good health.
Tomorrow is Sunday...a day of rest. Do you think we will get some rest? Who knows what will transpire on the morrow. I will just be happy in the moment! {{{HUGS}}}
No Culvers here--It sounds like a cool place--No--have not talked to the nephews lately--His one son is in Florida --Yes Sundays are good---relaxin'--Hiugs , Lynda
DeleteGood news on ENT visit. Glad situation can be fixed fairly easily. Grateful DH hasn't had aspiration issues whew. I had never heard of those issues associated with Covid. I'm so glad all the staff was so kind to both of you. I don't let my DH have his insurance card and ID info....I keep it. That way I know we have it and can find it. Lol
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about sons! Poor brother likely has several shirts but he's confused. I HOPE his sons check on him weekly or at least call him. Daughters are different. You are lucky to have one.
Loved the inserts today.
Sunny and cool in St.Louis. Spring is in full force...grass mowing, hummingbirds, flowers. Yours is coming.
Play your piano.
Hugs
It was a good day--quiet but that is good--Hugs, Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda, So glad that you got answers and a solution from the ENT doctor…isn't that wonderful!! What a relief that Himself hasn’t aspirated food or developed pneumonia from this Covid damage…nice job on your part for making this happen!
ReplyDeleteGlad that your brother is becoming more acclimated to his surroundings at the ALF…not one of us wants to be in such a place BUT truthfully, chances are that we may very well end up there. We can only hope that such a place is staffed with caring, kind, and competent people!!
Hope that you were able to keep your boat afloat today with little hassle!
Hugs, Eissa7
It was a fairly good day to-day--busy as usual--rainy too--Lynda
DeleteGlad the visit went well with the doctor! Hope your brother gets to enjoy his new shirts that are coming! Donna_cps2
ReplyDeletei did not try to reach my poor brother to-night-Hope he is OK_Lynda
DeleteI know-- The news on Himself was good-- He was so happy that it wasn't cancer-Lynda
ReplyDeleteChin up! A day late, but Chin Up! I'm being run ragged by a dog in a cone who feels sorry for himself. But as of overnight last night, he's in that cone until his mommy and daddy come collect him, or he gets cleared from it by the vet.
ReplyDeleteTwo more days to go!
