Spring has Sprung--

Hopefully everyone is doing just fine--We have another overcast day--  thick clouds --no sun--but it is mild with drizzle--Lopez and I, "hoofed" it up the road and he did his business--and now Sadie, the cleaning Lady is here--who yu know is really me.

This is the last day in April---and we sure have had our share of the "April Showers"--I do not see the May flowers yet---- no hummingbirds---  ----  but lots of Robins ---building nests on top of light fixtures and everything else, outside--

Christina Rossetti, wrote--"There is no time like Spring, when life's alive in every thing."-

-So true isn't it?--exciting-- I look around at the tiny shoots of grass popping up, especially after I get out there raking--I have done most of the front lawn--and the dog pen--just have the septic bed--then the huge area down by the lake--Right now, many mornings , I am out there, as the snow melts,  ('scuse the expression)---  on "Po Patrol"----especially after big Beau , and the long winter!-

-and soon, the most dread of all--- the BLACK FLIES will be out--  They seem to come , as the leaves  appear on the trees--just before the 24th of May-- and to survive the Spring gardening, out comes that dreaded bug suit-

after SPRING----SUMMER----  The joys of sitting on the dock---day dreaming--reading on the dock--

Tennyson said, "Summer is coming, summer is coming, I know it, I know it, I know it,  -Light again, leaf again, life again, love again, nest again, young again--etc etc--

Summer starts around June 21st but most of us think of summer as the season between Memorial Day (May 30) and Labor Day (the 1st Monday in September--so exciting-----

--So I continue to rake away the winter---polish up the outdoors ready for Spring--- and  then summer---and  try to be strong-- because, we have to be, don't we?- We are the "PILOT"---of our lives.

To-day will be great --because we  will make it that way---

  1. Yes, last day of April. You wouldn't feel Springy in St.Louis today. Blustery cold wind and temps barely 40F. Cloudy and windy.
Loved all the inserts today. You always give me lots to ponder or giggle over. Thank you.
Gosh you work hard around your house...inside and outside. Heard anything about any other possibilities of Moving? I so hope you can find something before winter. It was a brutal winter up there.
Lots to look forward to with lounging on the dock....but seems when the grands are over you are running food out there. Lol. Not too much lounging for you. Beau loves the lake.
    Enjoy your day.
    Hugs

  2. I hope you have seen the last of any snow falling util December. You have done a lot of work outside so far without much sunshine to brighten your days. I don't know where you get your energy every day to do as much as you do. I have arthritis in both of my knees and they pain a lot when I am on them too long. You are amazing to look after your large property, large house, be care taker to Himself and drive to town for any needs. Take care of yourself you are so IMPORTANT.

  4. Oh my, I forgot about those dreaded black flies. Terrible things, some folks are allergic to them. You are sure busy as a bee! Is the real estate company looking around for a new living arrangement for you yet? It takes a long time to figure things out. Good luck.

  5. As April exits, looking forward to May. We have sun, blue skies with white clouds scudding across in a strong breeze. Carl and his Grandma are feeling our way through the last couple of days of his mom & dad's honeymoon trip. I'm more impressed with this dog each visit. He has learned better leash manners, he tolerated me messing with putting his cone on whenever he "broke the rules" about the stitches, and he's even learned a few situations when it's good to be quiet. Four years old... fully matured. Those four years sure flew by, didn't they?

Hope your living arrangement questions settle themselves out and that you and Himself find a happy and workable "next step".

  7. It's Kathy. I've been doing my share of po-patrol and I just have little Daisy. But once I think I've got the whole yard cleaned up I see another place where she went. In the early part of the winter she could access the whole yard but once we got more snow it was harder for her to get much farther than her path. It's a cold and gloomy day here today with such a wind it almost blows you over! Can't wait until we can stop using the furnace - so expensive these days! Have a great day.

  8. We are having a rainy day today and for the next few days. I got the fertilizer on the lawn just in time for the rain to soak it in. Still got all of the gardens to spruce up and remulch. Thankfully black fly season here is very short so I just spray down and hope for the best. It is the ticks this time of year that are so bad. Can't do anything in the gardens without having to examine yourself after. Sunday is my day of rest . . . sort of . . . I make a nice breakfast and then we are having Lasagna rollups that I just finished making for dinner. I'm done for the day.

  9. Cold and windy here - seems more like the beginning of March instead of the end of April! Watched a YouTube video about decluttering and got inspired to buy a few things to get stuff more organized and not sitting around where it piles up. Disappointed because Walmart did not have any of the baskets or magazine holders....so am now searching Amazon. Found a couple of things but seemed expensive so now I am unsure about buying them! Such a dilemma - they seemed so perfect in the video! hahaha! Tell Sadie not to work too hard - it's Sunday, a day to relax and enjoy some down time!

  10. What a lovely, hopeful, positive post!
Raking all that land is hard work, but great exercise! Glad you are doing it a bit at a time.
Karaoke last nigh was a blast! The lady I picked up in a neighboring town (she used to live in our building) to join us...so happy for her and us. At the end of the evening she told us she has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's!
Sandy seems okay, though. Not upset, just calm. She is just 'going with the flow.' That sounds like something out of my Law of Attraction. I am so proud of her.
The weather here is much the same as your location. The grass is greener, some trees have a bit of green, the leaves of future flowers are popping up in our garden...but it seems very slow going.
Soon, like Tennyson, we will be looking forward to summer, not spring.
We can make ourselves a whole good week We just must 'live in the moment' and appreciated what we have. We do have so much compared to some.
