A Blizzard Hits the North--

SNOW--SNOW and tons of snow! --Lord love a Duck!-- I have never ever seen a storm like this!-- I feel like it's a "Little House on the Prairie " Storm------ I tried to snow blow in front of the garage but its blowing and filling in with snow --AND---  I HEAR ALL THE ROADS  IN TOWN ARE CLOSED--We have gas in the car--we have Bananas---and milk--so, we will sit it out--inside--

AND--if you don't see a blog to-morrow, it may be because we lost power--Can you please pray that, that doesn't happen?  --and ----LOPEZ HAS NOT PEE-ED-Lord Love A Duck!--I even have the Pee Pads down out in the sunroom---  which he has not used yet--

When we were kids, living in London, Ontario, in big storms -- (not even as bad as this)-we would run around in the deep snow, playing a game we made up, called "BLIZZARD"-----  All you had to do was open your mouth . look up into the snow, in your snow suit, and yell, "B-L-I-ZZ-AR-D---We thought it was great fun! --I often tell my kids about that game, as they are looking at me kinda funny!
These pictures were taken early this morning--

So it is April Fools Day-- April the 1st--my Grandfather was born on this day in 1875--  He loved this day, and if we were visiting him, in Port Perry, Ontario, he always played "the mouse on the wall" game-- He would say, "Look over there at that mouse crawling up the wall"--and we would scream and run--SO, I played that on Himself this AM--

"When I came down here, this morning, there was a mouse eating  that dog food", I said to Himself, and Himself said, "Really?"---  HE BELIEVED ME! -----So if you are a "Wallace"----  you must play the mouse game on April 1st! ---  It's a Scottish tradition.

Below, is a picture of  Grampa Wallace, holding my oldest brother---the one who is evading his grown  sons because they want to put him in a home--Grampa was visiting my Mom and Dad when they lived in Windsor, Ontario-- He always wore a hat like that---It seemed to be the style in his day--Note-----the suit--no bluejeans-
--Grampa Wallace was the youngest of 13 children---which also was the norm , I guess in his day--Imagine raising 13 children?---

I suppose in a storm like this--APRIL the 1st---  one thing we can do is play the piano---  and think about lives and times long ago--and--PRAY THE POWER DOES NOT GO OUT__
I must stay positive--stay strong---because I have to----  and--guess what?---- Son #1 just called and told me to stay inside and leave the snow--that he will come here when it's all over and dig us out-- There REALLY IS A GOD IN HEAVEN!

Lordy Be---  We better get better--and better---  LOLOL----

  1. That is a TON of snow, for sure…just leave it alone today…plenty of time to deal with it when it quits falling….Maybe Son #1 will bring his big machine and clear the drive?? (Fingers crossed)
Your brother, now on the run, looked so carefree and happy as a lad on his Grandpa’s lap….good thing we don’t know what lies ahead on our journey, huh?!!
Love your April Fools day trick! I really hope that your power stays on!!!

  2. Oh yes, have to let the storm finish up before going out, no dabbing here and there. Maybe this will be the last thing old man winter does? Glad you got the blessed bananas! Enjoy your piano.

  3. We weren't suppose to get any snow but I woke up this morning with 2 or 3 inches of the wet heavy stuff and then we lost power for a couple of hours . . .I think the weight of the snow took down some lines. We are all back on now and it is above freezing but damp and still raining. Nice that Son #1 is coming to clean up out when it's over. I am thinking of a warm comfort dish of something for dinner . . .maybe chipped beef on toast . . .haven't had that in a long time and it has been on my mind lately with these damp cold days. Gonna watch hockey on TV this afternoon.

  4. We are SO done with snow! We got several inches, too, but probably not as much as you did. We park in a lot. A plow cam through the main drive building up piles of snow behind our cars again. We may get a message to move our cars so they can plow the whole lot. Then we will have to dig out. Or they might just wait til warmer weather. It will be way above freezing this afternoon and tomorrow afternoon even higher.
    No karaoke for us tonight.
Your son is a treasure. It's stopped here...he could plow us ;-)
Yes, dear, you play your piano. It will help calm all of you and make you feel better.
Love the Emile Coue quote. Have said it for years to myself. Also Zig Ziglar's answer to then someone asks how you are, "Great and getting better."
I am at my new pc listening to the radio. My kitty has calmed down now, so I'm gonna do the almost unimaginable: take a nap!

  5. It's Kathy. We woke up to over 10 inches of snow also. We live on a busy road and the plows had gone by many times during the night - there was 3 feet off heavy snowplow snow at the end of our driveway. It took my husband over 2 hours just to clear enough so we could get out today! I'm afraid this winter will never end - more heading our way Tuesday & Wednesday! I hope someone comes and plows for you.

  6. Goodness! That is a lot of snow. I really love the first photo with the tree! It is really windy here in Ohio. Happy to hear that your nice son will come clean up for you. I sure hope you do not lose power. I hope Lopez will at least go to the pad soon. My yorkies are pad trained. Yes, it is April 1. My yorkie that I lost in January, it is his birthday. I have been having my moments today. He LOVED popcorn. We are having popcorn tonight to celebrate him. It will be hard but I want to do it. My little female loves it too so she will enjoy it. Stay safe and warm, Lynda!

  8. You are getting so much snow this year. It's ridiculous. Really glad son #1 is going to plow for you. Too much for you to do. Nice quotes. Can't imagine raising 13 kids or even 5 like you did. Nowadays the cost would be prohibitive. Stay in the house and keep warm and play the piano.

  9. More snow...exactly what you wanted. Its got to stop snowing up there and soon. Glad son is coming out to plow driveway. It must be bad if "town" is closed.
Your grandpa sounds like a fun man. 13 kids...egad his poor mom. No one could afford 13 kids today.
Lopez will do his business where he is supposed to do his business...I hope.
Any word on your missing brother? I feel so sorry for him but you can not go get him nor take care of him
    Absolutely can not.
    I liked all your inserts.
Love your positive attitude and your wonderful shared memories.
Stay in. HOPE the power stays on. Winds have slowed down finally. No tornadoes here but big hail and heavy rain.
    Play your piano.
    Hugs

    2. This is the 2nd time I have tried to reply to you! Don't know what I am doing wrong, but my comment just disappeared! I was trying to let you know that my cat is fine - they don't go outside except on a lease or in their catico which is all screened in. What I was trying to type was that the catico blew from my driveway next to my garage and landed in my side yard. Spell check didn't recognize catico and I kept retyping it and I thought I finally got it and when I saw your reply to me I saw that spell check had once again changed it to "cat" instead of "catico"! So sorry! I had a laugh/cry at the thought that you were visualizing my cat flying past my deck in the 70 mph winds! At any rate, cats are fine and son#2 came over this morning and got the catico and put it in my garage and said he would come back and work on fixing it! He just put a new roof on it about 2 weeks ago for me. So happy that it can be fixed as I don't think I could afford another with lots of extra expenses I've had this month! I sent you a separate email with a picture of the catico on it's back laying in my yard. So glad that your son came to plow you out. Thoughts and prayers for your brother!

  11. checked yesterday's post. Never told you...I thought I did...about 4 1/2 hours in the ER with chest pains. Lots of tests done, blood, x-rays. Turns out it was my old GERD acting up. Now they say its esophagitis. Never felt pain like that before...it wouldn't let up. Never had acid burps or anything. I thought for sure it was my heart.
