Civic Holiday in Canada--stand tall!

 Time to  face this day--
In Canada, to-day is called, "Civic Holiday"----and--IT IS A HOLIDAY---I believe most business are closed--It is the oldest  public holiday, which happens every year on the first weekend in August. --Canadians look forward to having an extra day off work-. It honours John Graves Simcoe, the first lieutenant governor of Canada. It is to celebrate local heroes , culture and history and allows Canadians to get together for a BBQ  and outdoor play.-----  I never knew why we had this Holiday, and just assumed it was because we need more time outside  , in the summer--

We have a rainy day beginning---I like it!  The 4 canines have been out--I hear now that their Mom and Dad will be back here, Wednesday morning---It doesn't matter anymore-- as long as they return sometime--

They have all been very good dogs-- They must wonder where their real family have gone eh?---  Last night, Lola, the  older than old, Apple Head Chihuahua, finally put Lopez, the young Deer Head Chihuahua, ( who is too big  for his britches)---well, she put him, -in his place---She growled and snarled at him and he  backed away----He thinks he is the ruler of the roost---so it was good for him--

Son#2, the Pilot, returns home to-day, from Brazil---He has already called--  checked in to see what is happening here- He says he flies all night, to-night, heading back to Toronto--

Maybe to-day will be the day away from any problems confronted-- no solutions searched for---"a day to veg" as I call it! ----Just enjoy the day---don't let the crazies get yu down--- remember too--my favourite expression---
Be strong--  "stand tall" as my Dad used to tell me--

Make each day count and leave some good behind is my take on it.

    1. Fred laughed when I mentioned you play mahjongg--He said his Dad played it all the time--His Dad was from China-- went to Jamaica and opened a wholesale business, a bakery and a gas station-- in Lucea, Jamaica-- We used to travel there a lot when the kids were small-- His Mom was so nice! I never felt safe there tho--burglar bars in the windows and they separated the sleeping area from the rest of the house--always felt safer , boarding air Canada for Ottawa--where we used to live--Lynda

  3. Glad the pups are doing well. And yes, probably good for Lopez to see that there are those with more ‘authority’! LOL

Love the Maya Angelou quote. SO true! WE ALL need time away form situations, and with you and the caregiving, it’s especially important!

And LOL! Yes, if you wrestle w/a pig the pig LIKES it in the mud.

  4. It's Kathy - I LOVE the pig quote, how appropriate!!! It's nice that your son calls to check in with you before he has to fly for several hours. We were suppose to have rain all day yesterday but nope, barely a drop! I had to put the sprinkler on the gardens things were so dry! Enjoy your day - yes lets hope for no craziness today. Oh, and good for Lola to let Lopez know who's the boss!!!

  5. All the qutes today are good. Good for Lola putting Lopez in his place. Looks good on him. You'll have to act for Lola in the future!! Nice of son #2 to check in with you before flying to find out how things are going up there. Very considerate. I'm glad the stores are open even though it's a holiday today. I need a few things. Supposed to rain all day but has already cleared up. Have a good day. Brenda

  6. Lynda, some of your memes are really funny. Love Maya.
Glad the doggies are ok and that Lopez learned a lesson. Sushi will probably be happier when the extra woofies are gone.
It's still cloudy here, and we may get more rain today. It rained night before last and on and off all day yesterday. We needed the rain.
I have got lots done already, but won't go into details.
Taking a friend to get a present for another friend. I will get one for her, too.
Tomorrow I am to take a friend to Abbot Hospital in Minneapolis for her surgery. It takes an hour to get there, and I will need to get out of bed at 6:30 AM.
That reminds me...what time zone are you in?
Hope your hair and errands yesterday worked out well.

  7. As long as no blood runs, it’s a good day with the dogs! In the US, a day like today would be all sales at every store, advertised for seekers before!!

  8. Loved your inserts Lynda. The pig one made me laugh.
Good on Lola! Lopez needs attitude adjustments on a regular basis. I feel bad for Sushi with all the extra dogs. YAY that half of your 140 dogs will leave in a few days.
Cooler in St.Louis after all the storms.
Enjoy your holiday. In the states every store would be open and having sales. School starts in a week or so here.
Pilot son is so thoughtful to always check on you too.
Enjoy your day. Hoping its a peaceful day for you and DH.
    Hugs
