"What if the Hokey Pokey IS what it's all about?

Only one more day---and the Grand Dogs go home--well one and a half  really--  They leave from Hawaii, probably midnight on Sunday--arrive in Toronto probably Monday noon--I'm guessing---may not get here , till Monday night--but----  I am doing it--the doggie  "daycare"--

This morning, everyone got their proper dish-- and 2 out of 4 dogs pooped--so, all is going quite well. plus the Humming Birds had their feeders filled--I had to put on my bug suit , with a bug hat --and gloves, so not to get stung by the bees hovering around each feeder--

Himself is up---seems happy--even made the bed-AGAIN----  funny how his day begins just fine, but, as the day progresses, his whole attitude towards me changes -- I can do nothing right (in his eyes)--- It goes like this---" I am the terrible person" , "always telling him what to do"--"He has to get out of here"-"-- He shouldn't be living here"-- "He is going to tell our daughter "--AND HE DOES---  saying that I am bossy-- It just goes on and on--so so different  than is normal self!

The problem is, sometimes it's difficult to remember  that this is really not him--and to let it go, because he will not remember what he says-AND TO JUST WALK AWAY-let it go in one ear and out my other-

SO ooo ooo---

-We have sun-- I think it will be hot again--The Grand grandson, will be out to do the grass--  I'll try to weed whack a bit before he gets here-

Crazy thought eh?----but--made me smile! ---
-- You put yer right foot in-- You put your  right foot out-- then you turn yerself about------Well, ya never know-That very well might be what life's all about-
The best thing , I believe we  can do, is to be positive --Believe in yourself-
--Do the "Hokey Pokey--"-as yu dance thru this day--

Be strong---- and maybe the Hokey Pokey-- is really what it's all about-----????????????????

  1. Good morning, Lynda! Would you notice if I send two little yorkies your way for a couple days? Lol This puppy is high energy but so sweet. I am adjusting but our other one is 7 so things were pretty simple. It is cooler in Ohio today so I may ask my husband and nephew to do a few things outside this evening. I am glad your grandson is coming to help you. I haven’t fed the hummingbirds in years because of ants and bees. I do feed the birds but I have so many squirrels that eats most of it. Well, your daughter is in the medical field so I sure hope she understands that is NOT you when himself tells her all these things! Enjoy your day! Tomorrow is Sunday!:)

  2. LOL. Maybe the Hokey Pokey is what its all about. LOL that made me laugh.
I'm ready for your son to come home and get his doggies. I'm hoping next trip he'll hire someone to stay at his house with the pups. 4 dogs is an awful lot of commotion for your house and for the two of you.
I do hope you get the referral to adult care for himself soon. You need breaks. Since DH tells daughter about you....does she now finally see, hear and believe you? Does she have any suggestions?
Yay grandson coming to mow. Weed eating isn't a lot of fun but you manage to keep doing it.
I hope your day goes well.
    Stay positive and strong
    Hugs

  3. If you have not done this already, you might try typing something like “ managing personality and behavioral changes with Alzheimer’s” into your computer search engine. You might find some helpful ideas on how to speak/deal with your husband’s issues to make your day run smoother. You are doing a great job of keeping the household running, and taking care of your husband. Pat yourself on the back and be sure to play the piano tomorrow.

  6. It's Kathy. It's always fun to have the extra doggies, and also fun when they go home again. I love having Annie with us, she and Daisy are such good sisters. But it is extra work for sure! I'm sorry you have to listen to all that from himself. I'm sure he doesn't mean it, at least directed at you. He's probably so unhappy that he can't do all the things he used to do. It sure frustrates me that I don't have the energy I used to have and I have been known to take it out on my husband a time or two! I think a senior day center is a great idea. My mom went to the senior center close to her home after my dad passed away just to spend some time with people! Take care and enjoy your day!

  7. I used to love to do the Hokey Pokey, when we had large family gatherings, back in the 1950’s. We had just come from Germany, needed to learn English. So you did not show your daughter those videos you took of when Himself gets abusive, so she could see for herself? But it is ok for her to think you are a liar?? Now THAT is Sad….Hoping that the adult Daycare begins sooner than soon, caregiving is too big a job for a regular person, yet Society keeps bragging about how long people stay alive now, yet they are not really “living”, either. It is a sorry state of affairs.

  9. Check my comment on your FB page. I didn't know how to post it here.
It's wonderful to get away from home. And while it's hard to leave where you go, it's always wonderful to get back home again safely. Your son and his will be happy, and so will the doggies. Beau and Lopez will be able to relax, too.
Just came back from buying more bananas, cat litter and acetaminophen. Kitty is sleeping, so I will relax, too. Already did a couple Sadie things.
Another think you will be happy for is your son/grandson coming to cut grass!
Wonder if it's the stress he feels and the fatigue that makes Himself 'disintegrate' as the day wears on. Would a nap help and would he take one? Food for thought.

  11. Had to laugh at the hokey pokey song haven't heard anything about it in forever! Now it's in my head! Good thing at least the 2 dogs will be going home soon. The you'll just have to deal with himself. At least if he calls your daughter to tell her about you, she must have an idea of how bad things get. Unfortunately, all you can do is to try ignoring it because you just upset yourself and he doesn't remember. It's a sha me you can't get some help to spend some time with him while you go out. Hugs. Take care Brenda
