The "Holy Carpet" bites the dust--with memories!

Now that you aware that yu really are special- I believe you will have a good day--Lord love a duck! Everyone should be told that everyday. Imagine just how good one would feel, if as you were entering a grocery store, and, someone would stop us, and tell us that we are special--everyone of us---But-- (that big "butt" again!)---it is not going to happen, is it?---Everyone of us is unique--just a reminder.

There is always "stuff" going on here ---Yesterday, Son#1, brought our new carpet in ---Apparently  the man who owns the flooring and carpet store , must've seen him, and asked him to bring it--It is sitting in a roll in the sunroom. Himself and I ( mostly the "and I" ---person) will have to get the old rug up and out--If I push all the living room furniture against the wall, I think I can do it--The new rug should sit in the centre of the room, on the hardwood---

You might wonder, "why the new rug?"----- Well, the old one has lived here , in the living room, since '87---  Many German shepherd puppies have chewed holes in it-I remember, Tess was the worst--And now, Lopez does the same , if I'm not watching-and, Coal-and the dog who had seizures , in the picture above, -did the same--
-above is Tess----for some reason, she loved to eat carpets-----and always when I wasn't watching--

-one of the culprits --the rug chewer---ready to  not only chew the doggie toys, but the"Holy Rug"--when I wasn't looking--

When you are sending 5 young people off to various universities and Educational institutes, a few holes in a carpet  were not the priority---

But, now----- I guess it is--- altho people will not be tramping through our living room  anymore (for now anyway)- It will be a treat to  have a carpet  which is not  known as "the Holy Carpet"--

Yesterday  I did cut the front lawn--good exercise--  My grass cutting Grandkid has a job   and it's hard for him to work my little part time  job in--for now----  Hopefully the grass will not grow as fast with FALL coming-

It looks like a Thanksgiving dinner--with the man of the house, carving turkey--many moons ago--  The girl on the rt. -is now 21 yrs and in her last year of University--Times goes by quickly-

So, a new rug--- no holes ---  Grandchildren--growing up-Below is the same little girl-- walking Willow, the rug chewer, with me and another Shepherd  one winter-Dogs were a huge part of out life!

and ---  below-- is this little girl --the "rug chewer-"---- yu can see that  German Shepherds meant more to  us than a new carpet----crazy us eh?

Time to role out the old--the Holy carpet--and in with the new--
Remember  how special life is----- people are special---dogs need a lot of love--even Carpet Chewers--
I saw the "Inner Peace" meme--- and  thought it  special--

But---  if that is too serious for to-day--- perhaps the  the wee meme below will put a smile on yer face--

  1. Love the pics of your dogs. Nothing crazy about loving them as they certainly return unconditional love. Just wish they could live longer as the passing of each one leaves a hole in our hearts. I’ve had at least 2 dogs my entire life of varying breeds. Currently a 60 lb black lab and a 15 lb chewinnie, what a pair! Hope your new rug goes in easily, and that Lopez doesn’t feel the need to baptize ir!

  2. It's Kathy. A very appropriate blog on National Dog Day! We were very lucky with Daisy - she never was interested in chewing on things. She has all her toys from years ago and the only thing she ever did was destroy one of my shoes when she was very little. Guess she was mad at me for leaving her at home. It's a cool day here today so next we're going for a walk! Have a great day.

  3. Loved the dog pictures, especially on National Dog day. They give us unconditional love.
Maybe...you'll wait on the new rug until you get your painting done. And, just maybe, Lopez will be a bit older and less interested in chewing the new rug. I'm thinking one of the boys will help you get the old rug out when you're ready.
Darn. Although I'm glad grandson got a job I'm not glad that your back on lawn duty. Sigh
Inner peace posting was lovely. I will work on practing those principles.
Its thundering with light rain and COOLER. Thank God. We need this break after a week of 100+F temps. Now I wonder what kind of underwear those clouds are wearing....think I know. Thanks for the smile.

  4. I know what you mean about priorities... I have pet-stained carpets and holey spots in them, too, from past and present pets. The love they give you is worth it.

Really enjoyed seeing your doggies, memories of how quickly their lives zip by!

Much love to you and your whole family! May the grass grow SLOWLY now that your grandson is busier!

    1. Yes, when you’re busy raising kiddos, priorities are different than they are when they’re all grown up w/families of their own!

And Happy Nat’l Dog Day to Big Beau and Lopez.

Hope putting the new run down can wait til one of your sons can help! Pretty heavy job.

    3. Oh Barb--- I enjoyed posting the "old" dog pictures--Dogs do not live very long do they?--So, I am not the only one who has dog stained rugs?--Lynda

  5. Lynda, take care moving all that furniture. Maybe Himself can help a bit with lighter stuff...table lamps, etc. And the dogs probably need to be out of the room. Could the son who delivered it or your grandson help tomorrow?
Love your memes, as usual. The one about the dog was apropos today as it is International Dog Day.
Did some shopping lots of sorting out, Lucky doesn't want to play.
Now I'm going to see about the A/C filter if it needs cleaning. I found the instruction booklet.
Karaoke tonight with our favorite deejay! My 'adopted daughters' (well they said they were adopting me ;-) will be there my friend I always take, another friend who used to live here, one of my daughters had to move her mom in with them so the mom is coming...88 y/o. She likes Country music and oldies. She will fit right in. And, if we're lucky, our wonderful manager who just got a better job will be there with her husband. Whew!
Such busy days! But they make life more interesting. Fun! And they make the hours pass...sometimes too quickly.
Hope your day proceeds as you wish it will.
Is it cooler where you are? Here it's just in the 70s, but the gusting wind is kinda cool.

  6. All the pictures are real cute today. Lots of great looking dogs. And doesn't Lopez look mischievous like he knows something new is coming for him. You need to have some of your sons come and help change the rugs. I would think it's too much for you guys to do. Be careful. Have a good night. Hugs Brenda

  7. Good luck with the new rug! It was 109 here today, 112 heat index, but by Monday might be 99, and stay in the 90’s for a week, we have a terrible drought and grass fires, too. Too much heat, not good for man or beast! Careful out there, with that yard.

  8. Congrats on your new rug! I am sure you will love it when it gets down. Yorkies love carpets, too! When you aren't looking, of course! lol We have had a lot of thunderwear in Ohio this week. Lots of rain, lightning and hail, too. Tornadoes not so far away. I am sure your daughter has told you. They were even rescuing people in boats off the highways. Crazy weather these days! My nephew left today to start school Monday. I won't see him until Thanksgiving. He didn't want to go back to school. He always gets a little nervous when the new year starts but settles in a week or two. I was sad when he left but started cleaning to take my mind off of it. Let's enjoy our favorite day tomorrow!:)
