Lots to think about!

It's a new day---a good day to think positive--we are a part of this day---We may as well enjoy it--

I am heading out , shortly , with the 2 canines-- big Beau and Lopez-----I came on here early to check the banking--The wash is in the dryer--probably all done-- dry--

To-morrow, I hope to take Himself to the Lodge-I haven't told him that yet--Should I tell him to-day--or spring it on him in the morning--?--I'm thinking to-morrow morning might be better--not give him time to think about it--And, speaking of "Himself"---I saw the cutest thing--have to show it to yu--

Now isn't the above  so true?---I had to share it with you, for your morning smile--

Sadie is  about ready to come thru the gate-- I will start my "clean one room day" thing---- I mean, REALLY dust and clean  the one room--this afternoon , get outside to WEED Whack----- I believe we have enough food in this house to feed an army--(Mom's expression for sure--)--

You know, do you remember expressions that you heard while growing up?---If you were asked to list all those expressions, do you think you could?--I could not!--- But--- It is odd, that "sayings  "--or "expressions"------  that were instilled in your brain, as a child, flow out your mouth as you age--  at the right time--

So, before you think  that I have completely "lost it"---I shall wish , for you, to have a wonderful worry-free day--- Tell yourself that you are going to  be happy to-day--that you can handle whatever comes your way--Speak to someone who looks like she is alone, shopping---Let that person know that you care--a smile goes a long way-- How long has it been since someone smiled at you while you were shopping?--

You do not ever have to act your age--a little bit of "crazy" takes years off your age--Sometimes  if you shout out a song--perhaps dance around the kitchen,  it puts that smile on your face--
-time to walk my dogs--Wish me luck to-morrow morning, getting Himself in the car-- This will be interesting!-----
Before phones--before computers--- Our lives were very different weren't they?--  Do children to-day play "Kick the Can?"--or--"Hide and Seek"-----or "Monopoly"-or ?---"Snakes and Ladders"-----and when we FINALLY got a television, we watched a lot of Cowboy shows----where the heroes rode horses---like Gene Autry--Roy Rogers--Hopalong Cassidy--- Lots to think about isn't there?

  1. It is so nice to see people smile again after we wore masks for so long and couldn't see people's faces. We really have a lot to smile about when we think about everything happening around us. I don't remember all the things that my mom said when I was growing up but I do know that sometimes I open my mouth and my mom comes out. I catch myself saying things that she said and it makes me feel good. I think it will be best not to say anything to Himself until tomorrow morning. There is no use getting him upset too early. I hope you are able to get him there and at least have him try being with other people. My thoughts will be with you. Hugs

  2. I wouldn't even mention going to the lodge -- once you're on the way in the car and almost there, casually mention you're going stop at a new place for coffee, or something along those lines. And then McDonald's on the way home. No point in giving him ammunition to fret (and berate you for being such a horrible person these days) for longer than necessary.

  3. I really like serenasea's suggestion for how to handle the lodge visit... "a new place for coffee". It sounds brilliant. Hope it goes smoothly, however you choose to handle it. It's tricky, isn't it?

I'm on about 24 hours since cataract removal... I cannot believe the difference it has made already. Now all I have to do is avoid rubbing that eye and make it to NEXT Monday when the regular eye doctor will test me and prescribe the new lenses for my glasses. Right now I'm feeling very positive.

    Have a wonderful Tuesday.

  5. I love all your sayings today. And yes, a lot of the sayings that my mom used are ones that I remember and use myself. And most are what you use! And life was much different growing up before all the technology took over. Re tomorrow, I think it's best to just go and as you get there tell him where it is or just that it's a new place to get coffee. Then reward with a visit to McDonalds on the way home (if he is pleasant to you). Good luck - hope all works out. Brenda

  6. We are all thinking alike this morning. I too would wait until you are on the way before coming up with a reason. Maybe somebody is wanting to visit with him and get his advice or for a cup of coffee. However, you know him the best and will do the right thing that will work for him. As for sayings, so many of yours bring back memories of what was said in my house growing up. Strange that without television or mass communication, the same sayings were used throughout the country. I grew up in the St. Louis area so far from your mother. Hope Sadie doesn't wear herself out too much!

  7. I also agree with Serenasea. Don’t mention the Lodge until you get there. If husband throws a fit or won’t get out of the car ask the Director to come out and talk to him. If he cooperates McDonalds can be his reward.
    Good luck.

  8. It's Kathy - I love the saying about the pants. Made me think of my parents. My dad was a bit color blind so my mom often had to have him change into something that went together better. He never grumbled when she told him to change his pants. This day didn't start out great but it's certainly getting better as the day progresses! I hope to get outside this afternoon to work more in the gardens! Have a great day.

  11. As usual, you made me smile. The pants insert is funny and true.
You know DH best. You'll say the right thing at the right time but a new place for coffee while on the way sounds plausible
Perhaps you'll call the place and they can come greet him at the car and ease him inside if necessary. I'll be thinking of you. Hope it goes well. Hes been there as a physician so he might recognize some folks.
Yes, things mom said pop out of my mouth... more so know lol.
I dont know if kids play outside or board games. I don't have grands. The kids I see are buried behind a phone screen.
Hope Sadie doesn't work too hard.
I'm hoping DH enjoys coffee out and that this place is open every day...not just hair day but its a start.
Cool in St.Louis. 66 degrees this morning..
    Take care.. hugs

  12. Lynda, why not tell Himself you're going for a ride...tell him maybe that he'll get coffee. Would that work?
I had a scare today with my bank balance...but it all worked out.
I thought of writing a book once. I was going to call is "Mommyisms".
I discovered it was already done. It's true though that often I hear my mama as I speak!
Hope all goes well with the dogs. I bet we'll hear tomorrow how everything went.

  16. I would wait until tomorrow and tell Himself that you feel like going to get a coffee at a new place in town. I took my son and grandson to the airport and now they are back in CA. They were here for 10 days! Lots of extra work for me so I was too tired to do too much....just stripping two beds and doing laundry and vacuuming and cleaning bathrooms today....hopefully I will be able to get everything back to normal tomorrow! Loved the picture of you and Sushi! She looks like my kitties! Both grey stripped, but Mimi has some tan on her too. Marley just black and grey. They are happy the company is gone! They were getting used to an 8 year old in the house, but they hid a lot! hahaha!

  18. I LOVE that meme about the wife telling the DH which pants to wear. Yup.

Fingers crossed that all goes well getting DH to the lodge tomorrow. It will be fine. You’re wise not to tell him till tomorrow so he doesn’t have time to ruminate about it.
