Every woman's dream is-----

Well, I did it!---  I took the "Bull By The Horns"---and took Himself to the Lodge--" it is called--" Huron Lodge"--We were there by 9am---I dropped Himself at the front door, with his cane--parked the car--then went in-- and there he was----he managed to get himself in there (with his cane)----- and he was sitting in the lobby with the director of the place--- and they both were laughing  and talking away--

You see, Himself used to be the Dr at Huron Lodge, so the staff there all know him, and they came out and were hugging him and even kissing him-----He looked so happy!-- The program sorta suited for him, is "Day Care"-- and there actually is a program set up--daily for people like him--with whatever he has!--I call it "old timers"------ I stayed with him, as they chatted away, laughing about   things that happened  when he was the Doctor there--  It really was so good to see Himself laughing----As well as getting him to socialize, it gives the Caregiver a bit of a break from being with the person day in  and day out_ There is a small fee-- and if he wanted , for a small fee, he could even stay for lunch--

We both left  happy---We only stayed an hour--- but I have enrolled him in the program--Monday mornings for now--

You know, I almost didn't take him---  I am SO SO happy that I did!--- It is wonderful that there is something like this--himself looked so happy-- to speak to people who recognized him-- who appreciated his work in years gone by--He felt like an important guy---  finally!

I am late posting--but---- I know that you all will be happy to see that this "Day Care" thing worked out-- I was kinda "fit to be tied"--(Mom just reminded me of that expression--I heard her shout it  out , in my brain)-

So, I shall  talk to you all later---It was a busy morning--but, so worth it!--

I hope that you all are not getting too upset about the price of gas----and the fires-- and the cost of groceries-- Lord love a Duck!---I believe we should just put all that out of our mind---

-------------------------------------=Now--THAT----- would be nice eh???

  1. What a happy blog you have written today. To hear that Himself was laughing, getting hugs and kisses and enjoying himself was wonderful.. Sometimes when we worry about things they do work out and we wonder why we spent so much time worrying. I am so happy for you both. Hugs

  3. I would do a backflip for you right now if I could! Lol I am thrilled for you and how great it all went for himself! All the right people and special attention was right there to help him and cheer him on. You made my day! It is sunny and 75 here in Ohio. I think I may crate Tommy and take my nephew out to a couple stores. He leaves next weekend. I will be so sad. Yes, everything is so expensive. I hope things settle down soonly. Get some rest!:)

  5. It's Kathy - I just had a good feeling that once himself arrived at the center he would enjoy it. You can see the sparkle in his eyes when all the children are around. I would imagine being a doctor for his whole life he likes being around people, talking with them, learning about them. And what a bonus that he used to be the doctor THERE and already knew so many people. I'm so happy this worked out for you both! I love that last saying about being thrown into bed while the man cleans the whole house! My dream come true!!! Have a great day.

  6. That is terrific news, that he enjoyed it so very much! Thank goodness you took him! And you know he will get good care there, too! Wonderful. Yes, groceries are high, but not all of them. I don’t drive or have a car anymore, but adult kids do, they need cars, I guess other things will be cut. Have a good night!

  8. I am so happy that all went well this morning and that you are going to continue it. Himself must have felt really good that so many recognized him - good for the intial visit. Hopefully that will make it easier for him to keep going - and include lunch sometimes at least. That would give you a full morning at least once a week to get things done. You must have felt real good to see him so happy. Have a good evening. Brenda

  9. Oh Linda . . . . shouting a huge hallelujah! That’s wonderful that Himself had a good time @ Huron Lodge . . . and he was laughing and socializing! That is absolutely awesome. I am sure he’ll get extra special attention since they know him! That is great for him AND AWESOME for you! I am just tickled pink (my Mom’s expression!) for you. For sure, you should consider letting him have lunch there, too, so you have a little more YOU time! Just so happy for you.

  10. Lynda, that last meme is hilarious!
Very happy that Himself had a good morning! Seems like the small fee will be worth it! If he likes it, maybe you could also enroll him on your hair day? I bet he'd like the lunch, too...it wouldn't be take out nor something one of you prepared...like leftovers from the night before.
It's a very pleasant day here. 70'sF a bit of a breeze and SUNNY. For the weekend, Friday through Sunday, it's due to be extreme heat again. Near 100F, I believe.
We just deal, don't we. Do what we can, find the positive side of things, etc.
Was it in the 1950's that the expression, "Keep on truckin'" was born?

  12. I'm so happy it went well, and that he will have a place to go one day a week. It will be something to look forward to, good for him AND good for you!

We're back in the oven here today, but due for a quick break tomorrow, then a hot weekend. Life goes on, and the eye thing went well, which makes me so happy. I know it's gone so well for many, including you, but you know how it is when it's your own self going through things.

I'm telling everyone who will listen "nothing to worry about", and "good drugs" that make you not worry about what's happening even while you're awake and aware that it's happening.

One more day in the books, one more day to be grateful for!

  13. HooRay!!! So happy to hear that all went well with your visit to the lodge this morning! I know my mom loved her place in assisted living because she was had people to talk to and eat with every day! I think she was lonely and depressed before we were able to get her a placement where she was well taken care of.....I was sad and felt like a failure because I just couldn't do it - but it turned out to be wonderful for her. I have no regrets.

  16. Yay! Such good news that the visit to the senior daycare went well. I'm sure Himself was loving being the most popular man in the room and having so many people pay attention to him. I like the idea of him staying for lunch -- maybe you can ease into that after the first week. Even one morning or day without worrying about what he's up to when you're not in the house may help with your stress level. You never know how this might have turned out, but it was the best possible outcome. Good for you!
