This AM., on CBC TV--they were telling us all , to have a "Grab and go bag , packed, ready to go in case of a fire --I look around here, and we sure have a great many trees--
They said to put a 3 day supply of your meds--food, water, a crank radio-- (which I have from times gone by--)---the cell phone charger, a flashlight--batteries-- your banking info-- your purse--(LOL) blankets---
Do not forget the pets--They need food and water also--- It was a very long list- and I suppose I should be prepared---Mom just shouted in my head, "A stitch in time, saves nine"-- You know, she must read this as I type-- All her "sayings" go right into my brain---Crazy!!!
The above picture is me--LOL--- I feel , just like the Lady above---- To-day , I am doing almost nothing--I am going nowhere also--After yesterday-- all the chaos with strangers , tramping thru our home-- (not taking their shoes off)---"vegging"--(doing NOTHING)--sounds pretty good!
I know the feeling! I love days when I can just stay home and do things at a leisurely pace! Days when I have appointments, or shopping, or book club, or luncheon plans always seem to make me somewhat anxious and I get little done around the house. So yes, my favorite place to go is nowhere! And the last insert about God walking into my room and sitting on the bed - telling me what I need to would be wonderful! "Let Go and Let God"!
ReplyDeleteAww Sandra--so good to hear yu agree with me--Life is just too darn busy isn't it?--and it would just be the best if God did sit on our bed and say that to us-- Hugs Sandra-It has turned onto a hot day here-Lynda -
DeleteIt's Kathy. My favorite place to go is also nowhere and that's what today brings. It will be very hot by this afternoon. I haven't yet turned on the AC but soon. Thanks for your support of my daughter's plight - yes, Bryan is really a bad person. He believes all women are inferior and children are possessions. He sure changed once she became pregnant the first time. So we pray and we arm ourselves with all the ammunition we can gather! I'm so sorry that you are having to still worry about the fires but I suppose after the devastation on Maui it's better to be prepared! Take care and enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteKathy, I am so sorry for your daughters' situation. You are right to be prepared, he sounds like a loose cannon. I lived thru this myself, so I can so feel for her and you observing the goings on.
DeleteContact me if I could help.
It's me--Lynda-- I feel so sorry for yu and yer daughter--and her boys-- Lets hope the Judge asks the children who they want to live with--Most children want to be with their Mom--Lynda
DeleteLynda, sounds like a good book & tall glass of tea would help, or play the piano....
ReplyDeletelove to play the piano---so relaxing-- We have the AC on--hotter than hot--AGAIN--Lynda
DeleteLynda, I have seen those types of lists, too. They are for more than fires: for people who drive in heavy winter weather and may have breakdowns, for backpackers on a trek, and of course, preppers. Those are people who are preparing for the war to end all wars.
ReplyDeleteI prefer to trust that, should I need to vacate my home, I would have enough notice to prepare. My guidance would let me know.
You said you're doing nothing today right after you said you had vacuumed and dusted the upstairs. Funny girl! You deserve the rest of the day off!
We are in the midst of another heat wave. For the next several days the heat index will be 100F plus! It's not 3 yet and I already have the A/C on.
I will probably do lots more Sadie stuff tomorrow. I am going to do my exercises, though.
My mama whispers in my ear sometimes...some of that guidance I write about. Sometimes it's my grandma.
{{{HUGS}}}
so yer Mom and Grandmother whisper sweet nothings to yu too---It is very hot here to-day--The AC is on-- I have not packed that Grab and Go bag --but--I am thinking about it--LOL
DeleteAnd as for doing absolutely nothing--- it's hard to do isn't it?--LOL--Lynda
I *should* have a grab and go bag... but I don't. I *should* have emergency supplies. I *do* have a place to go in case of tornado weather. They are always changing the rules. I remember my dad always having an army blanket and a shovel in the car for Winter driving.
ReplyDeleteGuess we all have our parents' preparations in our heads, don't we?
Wishing you safety and peace!
These days I guess we all should have that "Grab and Go" bag--kinda frightening Barb--Lynda
DeleteOh gosh if only God would sit on the bed and say "this is what you should do". Sometimes the answer isn't clear even after many prayers for guidance.
DeleteToo late for you to do nothing as you've vacuumed, dusted and cleaned the bathroom. Maybe you can stop now and do nothing. Play your piano.
Hot in St.Louis. Back to 100 degrees by Tuesday forcasted. Went for a short walk this morning and laundry plus household tasks. Its hard for me to do nothing.
Enjoy your day. Hope toothache stays manageable for himself.
Hugs
Glad that you are safe from the fire, but definitely, have to be prepared. NOT easy to do, but . . . have to be prepared.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that Himself has a tooth ache. HOPE he can get in for relief sooner than later. **SGH**
Definitely I love those days where there is nowhere to go. Sounds lazy . . . but no . . . it’s not!
Yes, I DO think our Moms see us and are proud of us. We ARE strong.
HUGS and hope it’s a good weekend for you.

Stay safe, the rules change seemingly every day, as to what to worry about. Even the head of it all, is unsure and not ready and teasing us. Hope Himself can get that tooth fixed.
ReplyDeleteHimself goes back Wednesday--is on Antibiotics till then--Lynda
DeleteLynda, since you are so close to the fires and they have been so scary and plentiful this year, it wouldn't hurt to have a bag ready if needed. You can recycle things like meds in it as necessary and totally unpack after fire season is over. Have a good evening. Brenda
ReplyDeleteYu are so right Brenda and I will do that-one more thing eh??--Lynda-
DeleteI would get ready for a quick getaway. Can you put some of those things in a box in your trunk of car. Then keep the water, pills, bank info etc. in a bag that is close to your back door. That way you won't have to worry about stuff and get himself and animals in car. Please keep your eyes on the horizon. Hope himself starts feeling better with his tooth. Luv Bev
ReplyDeleteGlad he's at least on antibiotics til he goes back. *SIGH* Good luck! HUGS
