I remember the glass bottles of milk left at the front door. In freezing weather, the cream at the top would be frozen and raise the cap on the bottle. While I don't remember the horses for the milk I do remember them for the knife sharpener. We used to wait for the ice man to go by as he would chip off slivers of ice for us kids to eat. I wonder what our kids will have as memories like those! We had a short "snow storm" this morning but it melted as soon as it landed. Now it is just a drizzle. I'm sure the ice fishermen are upset at not being able to get out on the lake during the holidays or is it too early for that anyway? Have a great day - D.
ReplyDeleteYes that man --the knife guy--sharpened Mom's scissors also--=We called him --"the Sheeny man_"_-Yeah--He came in the back alley behind the house--wonder what kids of today will remember--?Lynda
DeleteHello! Tree's still up, as are all my Xmas decorations. To me, it's still the holiday season up until through New Year's Day. Then it all comes down, day after New Year's, or so. I put the tree up, and all the decorations, the day after Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteGood --for yu to keep that tree up--- lynda
DeleteWow, I remember the milkman. As a matter of fact I had an uncle that did that for a while. I never put a tree up because it's just me and my pup who has been sick for a few weeks. Tomorrow we have an appt. at the vet specialty emergency clinic and hopefully this will be better after that. I'm liking this milder weather with no snow but it sounds like that may change soon. Keep up with your decluttering - good exercise to get rid of things. Hope you enjoyed your visit to the hairdresser. Have a good evening. Hugs Brenda
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda---Yu remember the milkman too--seems we all do-- and your poor pup--Let me know what the vet says--and yes--nice to get the hair set--Lynda
DeleteI remember as a little girl the milkman came in an enclosed square buggy that was drawn by one horse. It was so exciting to see him come each day . We also had a milk door where my mom could leave a note on what she wanted and the money to pay for it. You really do bring back some fun memories. Thank you so much for that. I am enjoying that there isn't any snow but I don't think it will last too much longer. Enjoy your evening. Take care
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to remember the good old times isn't it?----- There was a bread man too-Lynda
DeleteHope you had a good hair day! Trees still up, just small ones. Spent a lot of money through the years on decorations, may as well enjoy them using Christmas dishes too, until after new years. Just son and myself here. Bought German Christmas goodies, to enjoy one more time. One never knows. Hope you don’t get snow to shovel, but it is awful strange not to have it. China had horrible freezing last week, wonder where that will move to next? Ugh. Take care, ilike your milkman tale.We had one but they had a truck like thing….left milk and butter on the steps.
ReplyDeleteSeems we all remember the milkman----Good for yu to keep the tree up for now-=-=Lynda
DeleteSo far our tree is still up. Daughter and I are under the weather. She gets sick so easy, with lung problems. I'm just a sore throat from allergy stuff I think.
ReplyDeleteI just feel worn out and have not done that much either. Have a great weekend, and HAPPY NEW YEAR....
Yu poor person--both tired put and not feeling well--Get so me rest over this weekend Darlene Lynda
DeleteHey--I have been worried about you--How are you feeling?--You sore?--I shall go back and look for yer late post--I missed hearing from yu---and I began to worry-Meals??__-oh--Fred had a stir fry--beef with noodles--and I had a Chinese platter which I did not like-- We should just have had one meal and split it as it was too large a meal--I just dunno whether we are moving or not--probably not--but--the kitchen cupboards are full of too much stuff which I never use---- I hope you are doing OK__ Lynda
ReplyDeleteStill trying to post from new phone ggrrr. Happy Hair Day. Good job on purging. Keep going. You'll be happy and so will your kids.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Yeah for no snow. That’s a good day in the winter season! Yes, the snow is coming, though. We’re expecting snow on Sunday.
ReplyDeleteGood for you picking up some meals to lessen your work load! And enjoy the hair pampering.
Tree still up! Yes, a good Christmas. Quiet, but that’s GOOD.
We had such a nice milkman! He left us kids candy . . . Mary Janes and Dad always gave him produce from the garden in the summer. Our milkman delivered the milk in the bottle in a milk carton in the back of the house. Dad always had ‘dibs on’ the cream @ the top (remember that!) and the cardboard pog on top! Our milkman had a truck.
LOVE that meme . . . about not looking like what we’ve been through. Some days, though, I think I DO! LOL
Hope you have a wonderful weekend and can have a little fun for the New Year.
Hugs
