Be proud of who you are-

It is "dark as the ace of spades"--Mom's expression-- but--it  is  black outside--and minus 10C--with SNOW to-morrow--Lordy Be!

---Have you ever fallen----were sailing thru the air, and couldn't break the fall?---- It sounds terrible doesn't it----AND IT WAS!--

That was me yesterday-- Just before lunch ---I was carrying the heavy DYSON ball vacuum--down to the ground level, to put it away-- I was backing down the stairs--There are 5 steps-- About the 3rd stair down, I thought I was on that level, so took a step backwards (thinking  I was on the landing)----and there were more steps to go--- and,  I fell backwards--and the very heavy ball vacuum came tumbling down on top of me--and landed on my head--I sat up, wondering what part of me was broken-----and--nothing was, but all my rib cage and the side of my head really were sore--I got up--went up to the kitchen where Himself was sitting, told him, and because he didn't hear me, there was no comment--

I did feel nauseated-----could not eat lunch--and I felt like my torso was all bruised --BUT IT WASN"T---- and I kept rubbing my head wondering when I might pass out- or die with a brain clot---  BUT--I DIDN"T -----  So--- there is some truth in "YOU ARE TOUGHER THAN YOU THINK"-

--I am not complaining--just thought you might like to know that an old Lady can go toppling down a few steps and still get up and get on with the day----  quite amazing---

Below is a picture of  what I must've looked like flying thru the air---I did feel very sorry for myself--- felt like I was dying --(well sorta--and no-one cared)

But--  to-day is a new day--- and life goes on--and this morning , I moved that very heavy Dyson vacuum up to the coat closet on the main level--Lord love a Duck eh!--I guess the good Lord decided it wasn't my time!

I must venture out with the 2 boys---- the big Beau and the little feisty Lopez-----It is Parka weather and boots with cleats is a good idea for people who tend to fall-- it is ice-y outside--

I guess my advice to-day is that we are  strong-- stronger than we believe-- --Good thing too-

-Below is more kindness for pets advice---kinda makes tears come to my eyes-

Christmas is coming--  I have to figure out a budget for all the 5 families in our life--  -not sure how that is going to work  when there are so many of us---  perhaps flowers to each family-- gift cards to the Grandkids?-----Any ideas?----

Be good to yourself--You deserve it for sure----and always remember--

  1. A cool start to the day, and it’s gray again, but . . . dry. I’ll take it.

OH NO!!!!!! I am so sorry to hear that you took a tumble. With a headache, could you have sustained a concussion? I HOPE you’re better today. That hurting will take awhile to go away, for sure.

DO BE CAREFUL taking the boys out on ice and snow!

I never did like gift cards when I was in my 20’s. BUT . . . it is a GREAT idea. The receiver can get whatever they need/want. AS much as we may try to personalize gifts, the receiver knows best. So, gift cards it is for my kids.

    Definitely be good to yourself.

HUGS and take care of YOU!

  2. I am so happy to hear that you didn't break any bones or have a concussion after your fall yesterday. I am sure you will have some dandy bruises show up. This is more proof that you are the strongest woman I know. Please be more careful in the future and take care of yourself! HUGS

  3. We have light flurries in Ohio but after 3 pm turning to more but not a lot of accumulation. Gosh Lynda, how scary to fall with that heavy Dyson. I have a heavy one in my basement. Parked there for a few years now just in case my daily would break. My daily is a lightweight cordless Dyson. Leave that heavy thing parked! Lol You be careful on the ice. Have a safe and warm day!

  4. Oh my! You are so lucky that you didn’t break anything!!!
I struggle with gifts as well. I’ve made a deal with my daughter and husband that we do not give gifts at Christmas. I would much prefer time spent together here and there.
I do give cash and a few presents to my grandsons. I only have two. So, much easier on the budget.
Be careful. We had our first snowfall Saturday and more on the way this weekend. House is decorated and so maybe I will get out my sewing machine and finish Christmas presents that I started last year. Ha ha
    Have a great day! Jacquie

  5. Be careful out there with the canines! Glad the heavy vacuum didn't do you in, and boy, howdy, us old ladies are tough, aren't we? Pay attention to the headaches, the dizzyness, the nausea... all potential signs of concussion! Which I am sure you know.

    Hugs,
    Barb (OKM)

  6. Lynda, I have posted that particular pet advice, too. Just scanned it this time to avoid more tears.
Honey, I know just how you felt when you fell! I probably told you a couple weeks ago. At least you were able to get up. Due to my right hip and knee, I could not. The rescue squad had to come help. I didn't feel hurt right away...but the next day...ouch! I have just recovered from the bruised ribs from that. It seems your vac will be more accessible now. That will help a lot.
We woke up to snow on the cars in the lot. Not much, just a bit more than a dusting. Left the heater on when I started the engine, and in just a bit it was all melted.
Got lots done yesterday. Today Sadie plans to do the floors...vacuuming, moping...probably scrubbing some.
I don't have ice grippers, but I have boots that give good traction.
As far as family gifts, Currently, I am only financially able to give birthday gifts to my 4 kids, and presents for Christmas to my daughter, son-in-law, grandson and granddog that live nearby. I know the others understand.
Today I received a card from my middle son and his family...a photo card. It's beautiful BUT...the pictures on it are SO SMALL. I have a page magnifier I use to see them. There is one group photo that the magnifier doesn't help to see who is who.
    Sigh. Have a great day, take care with your bruises. I will, too. {{{HUGS}}}

    1. Oh no--the rescue squad actually came to yu- and yes, I was quite sore this morning-Christmas pictures are so nice--to receive--- I usually give each person something--but-- that is way too costly this year--so will group parents etc--- Ill hug them all tho-- Lynda

  7. It's Kathy. I'm so sorry you had that fall, how scary for you! Because of my 2 new knees and my back surgery, I am so scared of stairs. I always hang on, even if I'm carrying something. I can just imagine thinking you're at the bottom and then realizing you weren't. I'm so glad you weren't hurt more than you were. I love all the quotes today but especially the doggie one. I can just imagine my little Daisy saying those things - especially the one about her not having as much to do as me. She goes into her kennel and won't talk to me when I put my gym clothes on - I always tell her that mommy needs to get stronger so I can play more! I'm not sure she believes me! Have a peaceful day!

    1. I must try not to do so much in one day---It was a terrible feeling--flying down to the landing--I have since moved that vacuum up to the front hall--Your Daisy sounds pretty cute--you talk to her also--Beau understands everything I say----Lynda

  8. Glad your daughter knows you fell, do you write that in your calendar somewhere, those head and dizzy feelings are not good, if you had a caregiver, they could have taken you to town to be checked out. Feeling nauseous and all are not good signs. Let people know, in case things come up in the future. Danged monster vacuums and too big a house. You are giving your best years to cleaning. Good luck to you, my dear! Take care.

  9. Hope you are ok. It's not good for us to fall as we get much older. I try to e so careful - especially when walking the dog in winter. I'm fortunate that where I live is very small but have still fallen in the house a few times and hit my head. Good thing we are stronger than we think!! Take care of yourself. You are needed! Have a relaxing evening. Hugs Brenda

  10. Oh my goodness Lynda
I hope you are ok and didn't give yourself a concussion but your a nurse so you'd know. Might I suggest a vacuum on each Floor? Those big Dysons are crazy heavy. So glad you didn't break any bones.
Lynda, they make ice cleats to fit over shoes. You may want to Goodle them. Ice/snow is incredibly dangerous for walking. Please be very, very careful.
LOVED ALL THE INSERTS. I don't know where you find them...unfortunately Facebook won't let me copy them. I look forward to your notes each day. For me its like sitting down with a friend over coffee.
Bummer that I can't forward the dog inserts, especially.
An arrangement for the kids is a lovely gift...might be pretty pricey but who wouldn't love a Christmas arrangement. Kids always like Money! Or a gift card if you know where they shop or Amazon...can get anything.
You are an extraordinary woman. You inspire me every day.
Play your piano ...dogs love it.
    Hugs

    1. Yes we do have a Dyson on each floor but of course I feel that big heavy one does a better job--(just in my head I think!)-=-I will rethink this whole situation after my dramatic fall--LOL---I do have cleats on my boots but often I just grab any old boot and out I go--That situation needs to be thought about also---- You know, its all of you who keep ME going--LOL--- I shall play the piano--Himself was most difficult today--wanted to bash him over the head but that is definitly NOT a good idea-- Lynda

  11. Yesterday was not a good day for some of us. I fell too! I was walking into the family room with a full cup of coffee and tried to drag a blanket that had gotten on the floor over to the chair with my foot as I walked. I fell to my knees but only spilled about 1/3 cup of the coffee in my recliner. Luckily it is old and about to be replaced but amazingly, there was no stain this morning after it had dried. As I was going down, all I could think was - - don't spill it all. Sore knees but all else is fine. Why do we do such stupid things? Dog looked at me like - what's wrong with ya?

Have a fantastic safe day tomorrow. Luckily we don't get much snow and if it does, I can just stay inside. This year it has been unbelievably warmer than usual so I'm glad. My dog can go out in the yard without me so that is a break. We had an underground fence but he hasn't worn the collar for about 3 years and actually it doesn't work anymore. Wire must have gotten cut sometime - possibly the lawnmower. He still stays pretty much where he should and comes right back in usually. (if the dog next door isn't out) D.

  12. Glad you did not break anything when you fell.
If any of your kids have kids still at home, you might just give the family a fun game with a bag of specialty popcorn, or some other snack, and call it good. The grandchildren that are out of the house would appreciate money. And the childless kids would enjoy the Christmas floral gift. Maybe you should all draw names next year and save yourself some money. Or start that knitting😁
