Father's Day is coming--

I just returned from dropping Himself at his Day Program-- I saw the sweetest thing on the way back--Mom and Dad "Sandhill Crane- "-WITH THEIR YOUNGSTER were coming from a marsh, beside the highway---- They stepped onto the highway, saw me---  and shoved the young one back onto the marsh-and then all 3 headed into the marsh---  I very slowly drove by the family who were now turning round to cross the road again-- I watched from my rear view mirror and they safely made it across the highway--

I continued north on the highway, and low and behold, there was a big snapping turtle waiting to cross the road-I just hope he made  it--

Himself told me many times that he was not going to his Day program-to-day--  but, when I reinforced that that was not going to happen, he  got ready--He is so fortunate to have that program, and I know there is a waiting list for other people to attend--

Sadie, that cleaning Lady, who, as you know, is really me-- will be here shortly--- She is going to work in this room--dusting etc--  and this afternoon, hopefully I can cut the front lawn--before the predicted rain ---

Was your weekend wonderful?---  restful?---happy?--- This coming Sunday is Father's Day----Do you do something special for the man in your house?--I remember as a kid, taking Dad's socks out of his drawer and wrapping  them up. as a gift , for Father's Day--Dad always pretended they were just what he wanted--

-This is an old picture-- --Look at the date--2002--titled-- "The Prime Rib Gang"---  Left to rt---
Himself----  Son#2, and my Dad--- all eating Prime Ribs--
                                                                3 generations--
We were living in town then---
Happy Fathers Day Dad, where ever you are---

Have a great day today---be as happy as a clam at high tide-Dad used to say that--Remember that you are amazing--strong--beautiful---enough---never alone---and capable---
and repeat after me---- 550 times---and more--

  1. Good morning, Lynda!
Great photo of the rib guys! Wonderful old memory.
My ex-husband is still in Chicago as are 2 of my sons. They will do something special for him, as well as my daughter-in-law's dad. Of course, my dad is in Spirit now. I will be thinking of him, however.
Sadie as a bit of straightening up here, but no major chores today.
We are expecting storms this afternoon, too. I need to go to the store before they start for coffee, etc.
Glad Himself listen's to you (well, sometimes, anyway) about going to his program. Socialization is so important.
You mentioned on your comment to me last evening that Himself didn't used to be sometimes terrible like he is now. You know, dear sis, that that is because of his illness. It can be, and usually is, very difficult for the caregiver.
You have lots of us thinking and praying for you and yours.
I can't remember when you said Lopez's vet appointment...and you taking Sushi, too...is.
When Sadie is done dusting and Himself is napping after his program, I hope you get some rest and relaxation in, too.
We do need to let ourselves be happy. If we think something that doesn't make us happy...switch the thought to something we love that does make us happy. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  3. It's Kathy. I love the Resistance Mantra and have saved it so I can remember it over and over. We are having rain today, most all day I think. It's gloomy outside and I'm feeling gloomy inside. Lots of pain this morning but it seems to be getting better. I want to bake cookies today for our trip - it's been months since we've had any decent cookies. Daisy is lying in the doorway to my office. I don't think she feels too well today, hasn't yet eaten her breakfast. I worry about her. It's been 5 years since we've traveled anywhere, I hope it goes okay with her! Have a great day - I'm glad you convinced himself to go to the day center - he seems to feel better afterwards. It's like that for me and the gym. Every day I have class I want to cancel but I make myself go and always feel better when I get home!

  4. Hi Lynda: Great picture of the prime rib gang! Love the Resilience Mantra - will keep it as it's so true. I don't celebrate Fathers Day or Mothers Day as I have no close family and haven't had my parents for quite some time. Hope you have a good weekend. Hugs Brenda

  5. Well, glad you were able to get Himself to the Lodge despite his protestations that he wasn’t going. Sometimes just have to take the bull by the horns, right. Men . . . are . . . so . . . stubborn. MY Himself included.

DD Clara is coming on Father’s Day. John/Crystal have to work. That’s all right. I know they’ll either call and/or text. And we’ll see them soon. They’re busily planning their nuptials. So exciting.

Love the Picture of the Prime Rib Gang. Precious memory.

Ohhhhh, I am so printing out that resilience mantra. YES!

  6. Hi Lynda! The crane family sounds too cute! The turtle, too! Glad Himself went to his program and will feel better. That’s too funny about the socks. Lol High 81in Ohio today but heading for the 90’s. Hope the snakes don’t come out. I got some stuff to put around the house after the last one. I did enjoy some lavender marshmallow iced coffee today. Hope you enjoyed your day! Hugs!

  7. Hi Lynda, what a cute little crane family. Glad they crossed safely. Hope the turtle made it across the road too.
The socks for your dad is such a cute story. Your dad was certainly gracious about his "gift". I do hope your boys stop in to see dad, or at least call. No plans here.. low key Fathers day. Our son needs to make an effort BUT NO CONTROL OVER OTHERS.
The rib gang picture is sweet. The boys look quite content with the ribs.
It's HOT HERE...92F today. Quite a change from 70F earlier in the week. There goes my electricity bill. By Fathers day it's to be 98F and the humidity is rising.
Sadie came early 4am, but we didn't get much done as I had to leave for distribution day at pantry. Tired plus the rapid heat increase wont do anything positive for my power bill.
Hope your black flies are gone. Our
    cicadas are really diminishing. YAY
Sure glad you strongly suggested himself get ready to Go to lodge. I had no idea they have a wait list so he certainly needs to be there.
If you cut grass, don't overdue it.
    Hugs
