Memories make us strong--

A rainy day---  is--a good day--to do all the stuff you need to do  but instead do outside work because it is a sunny day----A rainy day is a good day to get a wee nap in--perhaps with a good book----and it seems like here, it will be a day that I can  do some errands--

Yesterday, the 2 workmen cleaned out the "Wood room" --  in the basement--It was called the "wood room", just off the furnace room, because the present Propane Furnace , used to be an oil furnace, and before that, it was a furnace that burnt wood--so, the wood room has a window to the outside and when we bought this place , Himself used to order long long logs--- have someone chop up the logs and the boys and the rest of us, had to carry these large pieces of wood, around the house, to that window in the wood room, and hand each piece thru that window, to a person in the wood room who stacked the wood in there.--many years ago---then, we went to oil---- so an oil furnace seemed so much easier---and now we have a Propane Furnace and the wood room is empty--

At one point, in Son#1's University's Life, Son#1 decided he and his girlfriend would move into our wood room---unbeknownst to me--- I came home one day to find Son#1 painting the wood room a forest green horrible colour-- and him telling me of his plans to move himself and the girlfriend in there--I immediately stopped the paint process and put a stop to his plans--The wood room remains  half painted--
-Memories ---Kids do the darndest things eh?----  Parents live thru a lot! Where has the time gone?----One day, long ago, I used to be a cute patootie, -----and now, here I am explaining the story of the wood room--half painted--forest green- to 2 workers---like--What the heck......

So, a rainy day----and always lots to do--a good day to remember life as it used to be---  I am looking at 6 bins of photo albums which must be dropped off at each grown kid--Remember how we used to save pictures?---Rainy days ----seem to be good times to review some memories---maybe---We are so blessed to live in a world which  has much more good than evil--Think about it!
I shall check in  on you all this evening--Lord love a Duck!---  Remember that you are strong-- I do need to repeat the words below--a good reminder  to be strong-

  1. Lynda, busy day for you! Inside chores or outside can depend on the weather, that's for sure.
Apartment dwellers have very few outside chores. We do have 2 residents here, however, who tend our small garden. They have tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers...probably more veggies and flowers. They give them to who wants them. They did the work, so we just can't take what we want.
Our elevator quit Sunday night after power surges in the severe thunder storms we had. The worker is coming with a part to fix it today. AND TONIGHT...MORE SEVERE STORMS! Hope it doesn't happen again.
I have photos, too...in albums, on my computer hard drive, on my phone, on my walls, framed on shelves. Wouldn't give them up for anything. Memories...new photos of family I haven't seen in a while...
Sadie said she will help me for a time today. I'd better get busy with her, sis, in case she wants to go to your house later.
Isn't it wonderful? She's like Jeanie on the old tv show...she can blink and go anywhere!
I'll check later, too. Hope all four of you have the kind of day you want to have. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  3. O . . . M .. . . G! Good thing you got wind of son #1’s plans for the wood room. Sheesh! And YIKES! Yes, we parents live through a lot, and that’s why our hair turns gray or white! I know. I remember the days of being a young cutie patootie, too, having my OWN ideas that added to my parents’ hair turning gray/white! OY.

Hope it’s a good day for you, Himself and Lopez!

  4. It's Kathy. I agree, a rainy day is a good day to get inside work done AND to get a nap! I love lying on my bed when it's raining outside - have always loved the sound of rain. We are waiting for a storm, it's very warm and very humid today. It's already hitting up north where my son and DIL live. Should hit us around dinner time. A very long time ago we lived in a little house and we only had wood heat. I gave birth to two of my children while living there and actually loved putting wood on the fire for the early morning feedings! But it was oh so cold when we got up in the morning! That's quite a story about Son #1 and his plans! Children can be quite a challenge sometimes! Have a lovely day.

  5. Started off cloudy here - but never rained! Cloudy, but warm and all those cicada's are singing loudly! I have two more bushes to trim in my front yard, but dreading it because they are sticker bushes - they turn beautiful colors of red, but I hate getting stuck by their needles! I should be cleaning house as my youngest son and family are flying in this Thursday from CA! They are coming for my oldest granddaughter's graduation party and my youngest granddaughter's first communion/confirmation! The second party is at my house so I have lots to do and lots of groceries to buy....and I end up doing the silliest things - like this afternoon I spent several hours cleaning out my garage that is attached to the house and now I am on my computer instead of cleaning bathrooms! Which makes me think I better go get busy! And I do remember being young - my how time flies!

  6. Hi Lynda
You are STILL a cutie patootie. Indeed you are and stronger and wiser and more courageous than ever.
OMG, I loved the story of oldest sons plans for the wood room and the paint job..LOL. He didn't think that idea through. LOL. Kids
Hot, humid and a few showers off and on. Cicadas are loud!
Have a great day and good job on cleaning out stiff. Sure glad the guys didn't find snakes in the wood room. Eewww.
Glad that's done. Growing up, our house had a gigantic furnace that burned hunks of coal. The coal man would put a chute in the coal room and load up the coal room. It was dark as dark in there. Mom had to fire the furnace a shovel full at a time. I don't remember how the ashes got outside as it wasn't a walk out basement.. Guess she put them in a bucket and hauled them up the stairs. Don't remember.
    Enjoy your day. Great inserts
    Hugs

  9. A busy day with the sprinkler repair guys cutting my internet line, so I'm late to the party for more than one reason today. It was a good day in that the trainer at the Zoom Room gave me a few practical tips to be a bit more effective with Ember to stop the jumping up and the nipping, but mostly reassuring me that I'm not ruining her. She's a smart puppy, and you should have seen how well she responded to that trainer!
