This very hot day, I took "the Bull by the Horns--"--(as Dad used to say)--took off in the car--left Himself at home with Lopez, and drove like a bat out of Hell. to town--- with 3 Whipper Snippers. which needed to be restrung--stopped on the way at the bank----and then , on to NAPPA., my Whipper Snipper store--- If I get there before 8am--(before, the multitudes appear, --"the whipper snipper man" will restring them--)--and I always reimburse him for his time---which of course, he always refuses to accept--- He does an amazing job and I am good for another week , for my yard work--
Something interesting happened , en route there---Across the dash, it told me, the remote for the car, needed a new battery--I never even knew "remotes " had batteries----so-----this kind man changed the battery in that also--
Lopez waited for me at home--- and as soon as I returned, Lopez and I hit the backroad, and little feisty Lopez, did his business--Driving back home, earlier--- I could see something trying to dodge vehicles ahead of me-- It turned out to be a family of Sandhill Cranes--Mom --and Dad?--with 2 young ones--They all looked like a lot of sticks--- This is a nesting area for Sand Hill Cranes----but, I wonder how many survive the highway crossings-----
-Sand Hill Cranes are beautiful huge birds with a terrible calling--like a squeaky gate--In the fall, they gather on the shores of Manitoulin Island, and flocks of them fly together, to the South--
How are you to-day?---Hot?--- I had to turn our AC up as it seemed too hot -- I heard on the radio this AM, in case everything crashes in this higher than high heat--we all should have a stash of cash somewhere handy--great advice!
So---- Take 'er cool --- enjoy this day----Put on that crown and maybe be a "Queen for the day"--
What a great, happy blog, sis! Hope you were careful driving at high speed. Has Lopez learned to avoid Himself while you are gone?
ReplyDeleteThat man at the store has great customer service skills. Don't you with all that serve us would be like that?
You must have a newer car than mine. I don't have a remote. I do have a key fob where I can just push a button to open the doors or trunk, lock the doors or make a loud alarm sound. It's a 2016, Nissan Altima, and it does need batteries.
Did I tell you about the conversation I had with a crow? It was such fun! (S)he said, 'caw'. I repeated it. Then 'caw caw...caw caw' I repeated it. (S)he'd wait a couple seconds then caw again. I kept repeating the caws in the same sequence. It was like we were talking to each other. It went on quite a while.
Not going to be too hot here today. Maybe the heat are has moved just a bit. I saw that it was going to be in the Northeast now. We did have more thunder storms again last night. No more is predicted for the next couple day
I had my air turned on for a few hours in the afternoon yesterday. It was so humid and stuffy. I only have a window unit, though.
Hopefully, my hairdresser is coming today for a cut. Shopping to do, too.
Hope the rest of your day goes the way you want it to. Mine, too, and that of your followers. {{{HUGS}}} Love, your sis Maggie.
I think Lopez avoids Fred--Poor wee fellow eh??-- You and that crow were pretty special--- We had the AC on all day--way too hot outside 95 degrees --too hot to cut grass--I tried---It turned into a good day--Fred was pretty good--Love , Lynda
DeleteThere is a huge migration station for Sandhill Cranes about 100 miles to our West. It is a great tourism draw for our state. You get 'em nesting, we get 'em in transit.
ReplyDeleteWe have a cool day here, a nice break in the streak of hot days we had been experiencing. I bailed Ember out of her boarding place this morning, so life is returning to "with puppy" normal. Just now I gave her a peanut butter treat to go into her den and chill for a while. A puppy nap might be just what's needed so she can go walking with sis Alicia and me in a while.
Hope the rest of Wednesday goes well for you and yours!
Holy Cow! Maybe our Sand Hill cranes go to your migration place--I wonder how far south they go ?---So--Ember survived her "outing"-- Good for her!---Alicia is your sister??-- I didnt now that--She set me up here-- --- Hug Ember for me-- Lynda
DeleteHi Lynda, sure...strut your stuff. If ya got it flaunt it girl!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for the weed whacker restring guy and battery done too YAY.
Im.not sure what furnace/AC guy is talking about but I guess you can try it and see if it stops the flashing light.
Yep, hot in St.Louis and humid which makes it feel hotter. Lynda, kind of hot for you to be out there mowing. Be safe.
The cranes sound big but nice to see. To bad they cross the highway.
Roof finally got done yesterday. Took two days. This is from the March 14 hail storm. Still need siding, guttets, downspouts, screens etc. It will all get done eventually. I felt so bad for roofers as they worked 2 14 hr
days in this heat. Brutal.
Enjoy your afternoon. Relax in the AC.
hugs, dear lady
Marge/St.Louis

DeleteGlad you had someone to restring the whipper snappers AND replace the car fob battery. Wahoo.
ReplyDeleteIt’s hot hot hot here. But supposed to get rain. So . . . maybe tomorrow will be a tad cooler? Who knows.
And to answer that MEME question . . . yes we ARE queens of the realm!
I used to read a book called I Love you to the Moon and back. Made me cry! LOL Each of my kids has a copy of the book and they love it as adult kids.
Hope it’s a good day for you, Himself and Lopez!

DeleteGood morning Lynda… what a nice man you had help from. They really are out there! I’m near Boston and I also live very close to the beach/ ocean. Needless to say we have bumper to bumper traffic, so home is a good place to stay. I’ve been singing that Rainbow Connection song you mentioned, for days! It’s one of those things where it’s stuck in your head.😂 Stay cool and please don’t do any weed whacking today!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day… Vicki
It's Kathy catching up. I love your Strut your Stuff meme. We all should remember that. It's so nice of that man at the snipper store to take care of you so well! I'm glad he helped you with your remote too. It has been very hot where we are - in the upper 90's. It's been hard on little Daisy riding in the car even with the A/C on. Tom and I have to wear an extra shirt so we can keep it cool for Daisy. We're at my daughters now - she's upstairs taking care of things, Tom and I are downstairs catching up with life, and Daisy's taking a nap! Good times.
