BelIeve in yourself-

Late----  I am late posting--I am so so sorry --You see, now our beautiful 30 inch cooktop   just died---  STOPPED--We had an electrician come here to fix it, but, it is just non fixable-so, I herded Himself--AND wee LOPEZ  into the car, and down we went to our furniture store in town. Lord love a Duck!! Himself was grumbling all the way into town---  "Don 't do this"--and "Don't do that!"--- etc etc-- (I closed my ears)--

We need a cooktop--I got into the store-- looked online in the store and low and behold, there was a cooktop-30 inch--4 burners--no knobs, for $800 --(Well, a tad more , but we won't let Himself know)--"THOR" it is called.  I called our electrician who said that we need to add another wire onto the panel in the basement--too much voltage----so all in all--another $1000.00 Lordy Be ! What else is new eh?--- So, save all the money you can, because one never knows what will break in the house--Horrible---- just horrible!---- All I have done lately is change stuff ---This old house is turning into this "NEW" house!

I hear also that "covid" is all around everywhere--AGAIN! --Best to dig out the masks--- Social distance--  We don't want to be sick-----and people in the family here have it I hear---  Lord love a Duck!--so much news eh and it's all bad-- LOL-----  We MUST be strong--but--I must be even stronger!-

                                                                          Good thing!

You know we older than old women CAN do a lot--- because --WE HAVE TO!

  1. Hi Lynda, it's Kathy. What a mess your day has become! You are dealing with so much and all on your own. You are stronger than strong! I'm glad you were able to get a new cooktop - a person needs to be able to eat! I hope it gets installed quickly and works well. We had to have our electricity upgraded a few years back - not enough circuits for what we needed any more. It happened when my husband was sick and I had to be responsible for getting it all done. Thankfully Tom could still communicate with the electrician! I hope it all works out well for you today!

  2. Hi Lynda...FANTASTIC inserts...love Miss piggy and yep, cranky is sometimes my mood.
Gosh....new stove and electrician too. Darn it. Happy Birthday lol. Always something at your NEW house. You've got quite a few new appliances in the last few years.
Glad you can tune out himselfs grumbling.
I think he goes to lodge tomorrow and hope that helps both of you.
Oh NO...sorry to hear family has Covid. We don't want that, especially not for you two.
Take care. Chin up. Stay strong. Feel blessed that you can buy a new stove.
    Pets for Sushi and Lopez.
    GREAT inserts
Thank you, you make my day.

  3. Lynda, I am so sorry! Is it a sign your house is getting TOO old? Or maybe, like you said...it's becoming new? It's getting a second life! Making you renew it. Wish you could do that with Himself. I can understand his crankiness.
$1000 is a lot of moola.
'Speaking' of a lot of moola, I still haven't heard from my son. Banks in California opened hours ago. He may be having a frantic day 'at the office.' Being Chief of Cardiology, I am sure, is a big job.
Other than that, things are fine here.
Weather is getting down to the 50sF at night and first thing in the morning. It's up to 74F now, though. That's 23.333C. Now if it was near there all day...
I know I get what I focus on so I am not focusing on a lack of money or anything else. I am going to find something to eat, then have Sadie help me with a couple chores.
Hope your new cooktop and wire are installed quickly. {{{HUGS}}} Love, Maggie

  4. Boy can I identify with your house woes, Lynda! I started out with an idea of the investment I would make this year in my "projects" and ended up spending over half again as much! Got my fingers crossed for nothing else to break over the Fall and Winter, and let the budget recover!

    2. With me it was the hot water heater giving out after I'd spent money on so many other things. The lawn work became a chain reaction: re-sodding nudged me to fix the automatic sprinklers, which then caused drainage issues that had to be fixed.

I hope it's done now. For me and for you!

  5. Hi Lynda! Sorry about your stove. It is always something. I am still remodeling after 8 years. Yes, covid is getting worse. My mom has never wore a mask or thought anything about covid and no vaccine all these years. She had it two weeks ago! Her friend, same thing! I was beginning to think she was in the category that she couldn’t get it. It is supposed to be the most contagious so that must be why. I had it once in 2022. I wore a mask until this past May but still to doctor appointments and tight places. It is 75 and breezy in Ohio. Yorkies at the groomer. Must go get them. Enjoy your evening. Hugs!

  6. Marti here - Lynda, if you just got the stove, it should be under warranty, dig out the instruction book/receipt from where you bought it, you shouldn't have to buy a whole NEW one! That's crazy!

COVID - yeah, we have two at work who have it. They stayed home. I'm not really worried, though - on Friday I go in and get my booster, plus flu, plus pneumonia.

  7. Seems like things are going along smoothly - and them whamo! Something goes wrong....I live this! Seems like I just keep spending money replacing things! Last month it was the salt generator on my pool - $1200....I kept putting it off and was dumping expensive chlorine in to keep it clean. I should have just bit the bullet and replaced it, but I guess I am stubborn and kept putting it off and ended up spending way more money, time and effort in the long run!
I just need to keep telling myself that to keep my home and yard running smoothly, I need to replace things! And I have - hahahaha - my refrigerator, ice machine, vaccuum cleaner, just to name a few! Hang in there Lynda! It is just part of life and living in our older homes! I am thankful that I have some savings for emergencies! And I love living here and dread the day that I can no longer take care of the place myself!

  8. Sorry Lynda...we had to deal with the same thing when we owned our home. Even did a lot of work on it, removed carpet to show off the beautiful hardwood floors, and repainted the whole house inside.
Never-ending. Now I live at the daughters in the basement and don't have to worry about repairs...yay me...and yes, I do help them out from time to time. No stress tho.

  9. OH no! So sorry to hear about your cooktop dying. Glad you were able to herd Himself and Lopez for a trip to town to get a new cooktop. So glad there was a suitable one! HOPE it can be installed quickly!

Yes, Covid (the FLiRT version) is going around. Very contagious, but seems that not so many require hospitalization. It’s not going away. *SIGH* New vaccine booster is now available so . . . going to take advantage of it. The dominant strain are KP.2 and KP.3 (variants of the FLiRT virus). The new vaccine is targeted for the FLiRT variants. Strategic masking recommended. . . if on a plane, in a crowd, or traveling or in high risk situations. Ok, so now my brain is empty of what I know. We’re getting the new vaccine in 2 weeks, along w/the flu vaccine. Oh and isolation is recommended if you have Covid to prevent the spread. **SIGH* Not everyone complies w/that, for sure. So we have to be up on OUR game to stay healthy.

Yeah, gotta love that left hook!

HUGS and blessings . . . hang in there.
