Always find a reason to smile,"

a new day---  so far, a mild day--but---  (There is always a big "butt"!)--this evening , our temperatures will drop--and snow flurries over the next few days- We knew  it was coming----right?--Below is a picture of Lopez, the wee Chihuahua---his,  little Parka-- ready for winter--   He has become a Chihuahua  fashionista---

Yesterday I did groceries-- Himself came with me and waited in the car with Lopez. Grocery day is hard- then "hair day"-- which makes the day even more difficult----I did it tho--- I feel better when I look in the mirror---new hair!

--Do you find when you must grocery shop, that it is a difficult  day?-- Is it just because I am "old"?-- Maybe it's the pressure too , of the cost of everything-- Who knows?

My oldest brother, who lives alone, called last evening  , to ask if I could  drive to where he lives, (which is a zillion miles away-)-and bring him up here to live with me---  NO! NO! NO!---  I cannot do that! -- I feel very sorry for him too-- His son is trying to care for him, but I hear his son is ill--and anyway, he should not be living alone-  He does not drive --- cannot shop--  has had several strokes--fell a couple times over the past couple days-- and is terrified he will be placed in a long term care home--which he should be placed. Isn't it tough getting older than old?--My heart goes out got him----but---  There is a limit what one can do--and--I am at my limit-- sad as it sounds-

This picture is of Denmark--taken by Son#2, the air Canada Pilot-- He landed there this AM--is sleeping right now-- So--You know, pictures of "food" will soon be sent----I asked him to bring back some wooden clogs--  Is that where clogs are?--

No-one said "life would be easy , they just promised it would be worth it"-- As Dad used to say, "Keep yer Chin up!"--

I hope that your day is wonderful--and if it's not, --DECIDE TO__Try to--MAKE IT THAT WAY__

  1. Definitely keep your chin up.
There is no way you can care for your brother. I remember him asking you to do that earlier. I'm sad for him but you have too much on your plate already.
Grocery shopping is not fun. Glad you got hair done. That always makes you feel better! Also good Fred got out a bit.
The parka for Lopez is way cute.
I have no idea about food in Denmark but your son will let us know. He likes food.
    Have an amazing day!

  2. I told my 2 brothers many years ago not to count on me for anything. They were never there when my parents needed them. Lucky your son. I wish I could eat so many international meals! Yummy! Have a beautiful Friday.

  3. I think the wooden shoes might be Dutch, but they are not cheap. Danish food should be good, too! Your poor brother, is not able to think well anymore. I imagine his son needs to call some department from the government to help him. But being placed into some other place is all that they can do. You cannot do anything. Sad, but apparently he has not been going to doctor appointments, the doctor would have recommended him to be placed before now. I don’t know if he can call for himself? Stay warm, Lynda, it’s that darned winter messing us up.

  4. Oh, shoot! I know I put a comment here earlier, but it didn't "take". My computer was being a bit wonky at the time (I was on the old laptop). I did my groceries today, and yes, it can be a stressful time, especially when the store is packed. But I got through it, and they are all stored away now.

I know your heart hurts for not being able to take on more for your brother, but this is one of those times when your head has to rule. You have to take care of yourself, too, so that you can do the other things on your overflowing plate.

Take care, breathe, and be good to yourself.

  5. Good that you recognize your limits and established boundaries with your brother. Not an easy thing to do but essential. You are juggling far too many things to even consider adding your brother's care to the mix.

Rainy storms with a cold front in progress here in Central Texas.

    Keep on keeping on.

  6. What a cute little parka! Looks like it would fit a mouse ;-)
I grocery shopped, too, and it is hard. I like the shopping part...looking for the deals and the best produce, etc. It's loading it all in the car and then unloading it when I get home, lugging it all to the (new) elevator, up 3 floors, down a long hallway to my apartment. Then there's the unloading and finding a place for everything. And I don't have 3 floors like you do. Cupboards are full, though and my bitty freezer. Wonder why I always think I need more. Hmm...
Sorry for your brother. Can you call your nephew to see if he can get his dad some help?
Veteran's day here today, so I got my free haircut from my favorite stylist. Great free breakfast locally, too. Now to my favorite restaurant for $11.11 off my meal
    Tomorrow, karaoke with my friends. Great weekend. You're right...we can make it that way with our attitude. (((HUGS}}}

  7. Wow! Lopez’s coat looks almost bigger than him! CUTE!

Glad you got thru the grocery shopping and hair appointment.

((((((HUGS)))))) That is a hard thing to say no to your brother, but for sure, you have your hands fuller than full right now. **SIGH** Sorry that his son is ill, that really complicates matters. If he’s not safe, though, you know, and said, he need to be in a care facility. It is sad, but it is reality. Unfortunately.

Hmmmmm, I think the wooden clogs (Klompfen) are from Holland. I have a pair from when I visited my pen pal there! Very pretty country.

Take good care of you and Himself (and Beau, little Lopez and sweet Sushi)!

  8. Must have been a grocery shopping kind of day. I went today mostly because they were giving 10% off to Veterans so I saved a bunch on things I would have bought anyway. Then I went to a craft fair and bought myself a couple of presents. The weather was nice under about 20 minutes ago and now it is raining . . . supposed to rain all night. The remnants of Nicole. oh yes I also got dinner at one of the vendors at the craft fair . . . Lobster Rolls . . . yum.

  9. I'm glad you said no to your brother. You have way too much to handle right now and adding one more person to care for would certainly be too much for anyone. I also no longer enjoy grocery shopping. I just got back from picking up a few things and spent $42 - about 6 items. Lunch meat has gotten so expensive, as has fresh vegetables. I hope things improve next year! Enjoy your afternoon! Oh, and it looks like we have snow coming in the next couple of days too - yes, we knew it had to happen but we don't have to like it!

  10. A rainy day here, though still warm until tomorrow. I went to a Mexican restaurant last night and had their fish tacos, something I've not had there. I put a lot of hot sauce on it b/c it was rather bland. Then I've had "the trots" all last night and today, so I called in sick to work. I've mostly slept all day.

Grocery shopping is a chore for me I'd rather not do. I guess I've gotten weaker? over the last few years, but I have to ride a cart now, and since we only have two Kroger's (it's not Columbus here, that's for sure), it's always packed. Every time I try to turn a corner I'm afraid I'll run someone over. I suppose it's not too hard for me to put away, as I just pull into the garage and my condo is only one story, but I still don't look forward to doing it.
