Value your Peace more than people's opinions

Another day--ANOTHER SUNNY DAY---and, the best part of it, is------  WE ARE ALIVE!---Lopez had another uneventful day yesterday--no biting or snarling--  Himself is doing just fine--no AC on---  It seems cooler--I mean, what more could we ask for? I have taken the garbage over to the boat landing--I do not need groceries--- I have not eaten ice cream for days now---(because there is none in the house)--All seems good!
I thought the above quite true----If we can only do part of what it says , I'm sure we will benefit--
For some reason to-day, I keep thinking of my Mom and Dad--I took the above picture of them in front of our cottage--- May of 1956-----Dad was scything the hill--  (Maybe that was their version of a weed whacker)--

Here they were on their 50th wedding anniversary---We all attended their celebration---as you can see below, which was in Florida. ---Dad used to  call my "Himself", ---"Fred the Med"---He always nicknamed all my sister's and my boyfriends--There was "Skip the drip"---- "Horsey Bill"-(He worked in a horse stable and would come to or cottage smelling of horses-)-Dad had a great sense of humour----

Mom and Dad used to raise Cocker Spanial dogs--There was usually a pen in our basement , full of puppies, waiting to grow and be sold to good homes--I remember sitting by the furnace in or basement , holding a puppy--It was part of growing up--I also never remember having store bought cakes, in our home---  We  made all the baking.-- Maybe  cakes and cookies were not as plentiful in the grocery, as they are now--  I do remember  popping pop corn on the stove--to munch on  in the evenings--Big bags of chips I don't believe existed--There was not a McDonalds---  That came around when our own children were young-- A McDonald's burger used to be 25 cents-- I do remember a $5 bill would cover a meal for 7 at McDonalds --not anymore-

Here we all were at  Mom and Dad's "50th'

I think of  this , when I look at our own Grandchildren --- The world has changed so much since I was a teenager--How will they deal with Climate Change?--We really have not done too much to deal with it--yet---

Changes---and we do adapt--We sure have put a lot on this next generation--bless their hearts--

Anyway, I hear the vacuum going downstairs--Himself is  taking care of that level---  I am trying to cook more at home here, --not eat out or buy meals to bring home--hopefully it will save a bit of $$$$!

Remember that you are a very important person---- There is no-one else in the world the same as "you"-Take care of your GrandChildren as they are our future--They need lotza love to do the job ahead of them---and I know they will do us proud!
It says, "Sometimes, as we age, our Greatest Blessing is when the People (in our lives) treat us......as if we Matter! ---True eh?----
Lord love a Duck!--I must get on with my day here- Make your day special----

  1. I'm listening to thunder rumbling overhead as I catch up on blogs, including this one. Funny how the older we get the more our memories take center stage, and how we understand our parents so much more, too.

Good for Lopez having a string of "good" days. And good on Fred for doing the vacuuming. And may your grandchildren (and my kids and any they might one day take under their wing) be up to the task we call "the future"!

    Life's good... we're still breathing!

    1. I must get into reading all the blogs---never enough time in the day---I must make time----It looked like thunder storms all day. but they never came--huge clouds drifting by--and yes, another day with the Chihuahua and no bites-- Holy Cow! Lynda

  2. That meme is absolutely the truth, isn’t it! eat ½, walk double, laugh triple and love w/o measure. It works!

What wonderful memories. You really look like your Mom. Beautiful!

Ahhhhh, now I understand where your love of creatures comes from . . . you Mom and Dad raised cocker spaniels. Nice! Both my maternal and paternal grandmothers did all the baking. No such thing as store bought.

I remember the .25cent McDonald burgers, too. But never had that much.

Yes, we have left the next generation w/lots to deal with. Blessings to them!

Glad that Himself still does the vacuuming! Awesome. Hopefully that makes him feel like he’s useful . . . men need that so much. (Well, we women do, too, but seems to be much less!)

And kudos to Lopez for putting together a string of good days! He’s learning!

    Here’s to a great Tuesday.

  3. It's Kathy - I love the Tibetan Proverb, so true. I'm glad you and Lopez are getting along better, he is a really cute little guy. I remember the first McDonald's in our area - it was about 15 minutes from our home so it was a real treat when my parents would take us. And yes, Dad could feed the whole family for just a few dollars. I also remember going to the Dairy Queen on a hot summer night already in our pj's - we would get the 5 cent cones! As things changed whenever Dad took us to the Dairy Queen he would say "nickle limit" even though 5 cents no longer bought anything. He also made up nick names for my friends - my favorite was Julia Foolia! Love the memories!

  4. Good afternoon, Lynda.
It is cooler here, too, and sunny. Climate change? I know it is said to be real. We are supposed to be getter hotter. Then why does weather.com say this will be the coolest summer since 2017?
I'd love to have someone to vacuum around here
Going to do that washing I spoke of, have a mini watermelon to cut, and my baby (Lucky) is crying for something, so I'd better go.
    Have a great rest of your day (and night)! {{{HUGS}}}

    2. There is a laundry room on my floor It has 2 washers, 2 dryers, a big utility sink, a long counter for folding and a nice stand with places to hang clothes on hangers. The room and its contents are shared with 30 apartments.

  5. You don't see many cocker spaniels these days - they are affectionate dogs. Trying to get house back in shape before my daughter & SIL come for a night. Almost more trouble than it is worth with having to put on clean sheets, etc. This is just a stop going thru town. Vacuuming is next so whoopie. Wish Himself was here to do it for me. Could I borrow him for a day?
    Have a great day - D

  6. I love the Tibetan proverb and also the saying about valuing your peace more than people's opinion. Glad Lopez is still behaving. I've had a couple of cockapoos which are part spaniel - great dogs. I remember the popcorn on the stove! It was so much harder back then to get all the snacks we do now which was much healthier for us. Thank goodness for weedwhackers instead of scything! Your parents seem like fun. Have a good night. Brenda

  8. I hope you had a nice day. We finally get to sleep with the windows up here in Ohio tonight. The air quality has not been good for several days. This wee one is not liking the cage very well and my husband is giving in. The potty training is going pretty well so that is a plus. You look so much like your mom. I see where you get your beauty. Good for Lopez doing so well. I like how he just comes when you get Beau to the door. Like I have said before, we may do the same over ice cream. Lol But we are trying to not have the sweets too much, right? Have a great evening!

    1. It's hard at first with a new puppy-- because yu never know what the pup was used to in their other home--It took us forever to understand Lopez--It is getting getter now--but most difficult at first---I didn't realize I look like my Mom-- but-I guess that is an honour--- Yes our Allison told us about the smoke in Medina to-day, --where she lives--Lynda
