You can do Hard Things

Good morning--- "Duckie"-
- To-day is a much cooler day--with a fresh wind blowing--I love it--No AC--

What else can happen ?---- Last night in the night, big Beau began to bark-- I never got up--I figured he could handle whatever it was--So--This morning I slept in till 6am--went down to the kitchen after feeding Sushi---and there was a long piece of Fashia hanging down to the ground beside the kitchen window--There it is in the picture, below---

--so, I began to panic thinking this house is falling apart--and I knew I could not fix it--Anyway, when I got my wits about me, I called "Stan the Man"--the best repair guy in the whole world, and left him a message--This was at 6am--Can you believe this?--He called me right back--at 6:10 am--told me he was heading up this way from town, to repair a Lady's trailer--and he would stop in--Holy cow!!!----  AND----- He was here by 6-15am and climbed up on his ladder--and banged the piece of Fashia back up--said the nails holding it are very small and it doesn't take much wind to knock it down.--Bless his heart eh?----  he left and I then drove into town to the bank machine to get $$ to pay him--and, by 7am---  back out I came,  and found Stan the Man over at the Lady's trailer across the road-- and all  this was done before Himself was even up--

I felt a tad sorry for myself this morning--thinking, stuff like, "WHY ME?"---- but---  then, thought, well, the whole chaotic thing,  wasn't the end of the world, and I handled it, so I thought--Do not feel sorry for myself--JUST DO IT!_-FIX STUFF WHEN YOU NEED TO___(That was my thought!)_But in my mind, I was thinking, my Mom never had to do "stuff"---- It was the "WHY ME?" syndrome---

No time for that tho is there?--As Dad used to say, "Where there's a will, there's a way"--Be grateful there is a "Stan the Man"----  to help  a damsel in distress!

So---  it's a day to get groceries-- maybe not too many, plus the grandson will be out to do grass this afternoon--
So, if I have any advice here, to share with you all, I suppose it is----
You are stronger than you think---
You do know that ----Beautiful girl, yu can do Hard Things---- Forget the tears and just chug along--

  1. Goodness! What a way to start your day! Sorry, Lynda! You are Wonder Woman! Much cooler in Ohio today, too. Cloudy and a storm about 5:30 this morning with winds, heavy rain and lightening. Tommy got his first shots today. I survived the dentist yesterday. I was to get three fillings replaced but one turned into a surprise crown. I got a crown last month and one coming up so this wasn’t the best news but I have the temporary on til the tiny, expensive crown comes in. I hope your day gets better. Always something but we are strong! Lord love a duck! Lol Tomorrow is Sunday!:)

  2. I love that you pulled yourself together and figured out what to do - in mere minutes. Good for you. Yes, I sometimes go into the "why me" place but then I remind myself of all the good things around me and that helps. We had another rain storm last night - only about 10 minutes but more branches down. Daisy and I went out and picked them up in the evening and now we have all the windows opened. It feels so good. The only down side is everyone is mowing, leaf blowing, or using a chain saw in our neighborhood. It's all pretty loud!

  3. That Stan is such a blessing, indeed, how thankful !! Glad you are cooler again! Hope shopping does not cost an arm and a leg. It will be triple digit heat here in this part of Texas until end of August, a Heat Dome they call it. Plus Dirty Air pollution, too. Too many people and cars. Be careful out there!

  4. Glad you have a Stan the Handyman in your life. Sometimes we just have to be grateful for every bright spot life has to offer! I'm letting go of "why me" in the wake of being diagnosed with RSV on Thursday. They swabbed my nose for three different tests: one for Covid (nope, not Covid), one for flu (nope, not flu)... and one for RSV... "we have a winner". So to be grateful? That this is one that pretty much will go away with palliative care within a week. But it is not fun while it lasts.

    Whew!

  5. Well Lynda...you sure handled THAT in record time. Stan the Man is a hunk of gold. Sure worked out swiftly reaching him and his coming over to nail it back up. Thats handled...Onward. You do have some good helpers..Stan the Man plus the man that strings your weed whackers and your grandson who mows.
I'm envious of your cool temps. Another 100 degree day in St.Louis.
Hoping you don't have to spend too much at the store.
    Stay safe.

  6. We ARE beautiful and we CAN to anything we put our minds to...some of it with help to be sure.
Glad it was nothing major with your house. You are Lucky to have Stan as well as your son and grandson to help with the yard work. Bet you sometimes get good meals from your restaurant owning son, too.
I had an outing today. One of my best friends (much younger) picked me up and took me to the Farmer's Market. I got fresh green beans, bitty cucumbers, snap peas and an adorable tote bad and coin purse someone made. It was a print with dogs on it. My daughter is dog crazy! Then we went to a bakery called the Crack of Dawn. They have amazing baked goods, sandwiches, the usual tee and sweatshirts, jewelry, etc. We shared a BLT with cheese on toasted rye bread. Then Leann bought me a rhubarb scone to bring home for later.
I told her not to dare buy anything from her or Cheryl for my birthday...that today was enough of a celebration!
    Lucky is crying. Left him alone too long, I guess. I will check this later. Good luck with your shopping, and remember bananas.{{{HUGS}}}

  7. Wow! Blessings to Stan the Man! Everyone should have a Stan in their lives! And yes, we do what we have to do when we have to do it. No other choice, is there! Good job.

Lovely and true meme … we CAN do hard things . . . . we ARE stronger than we think.. But you know what, sometimes it is OK to cry… once the dust has settled. Get through the moment first. Learned that working in ICU/CCU. Has served me well.

HUGS and glad the weather is beter. Here, too.

    Hugs and blessings to you

  9. Wow how great that he was going to be just across the road! Perfect timing. And then you had everything sorted before Himself was even up. YOU GO, GIRL!!! I've lost count of the things I've had to get help for - I mean what else could you have done? But it's the courage to call and ask for someone to fix something that matters and you sure did it. At the 'bum crack of dawn' (an Aussie saying, I think). Well done!

I'm struggling with making my electric under blanket be in the right position (instead of half off the edge of the bed) so I can have more warmth in the night. I didn't take my fingers into consideration first though and have struggled to get the material into my fingers and hands to pull it from the other side. I have very little sensation at the tips of my fingers and who'd of thunk that would make bed changing a challenge? Next time I'm going to have Sadie help me with it. My Sadie is a great home cleaning service a young lady I know has started. She's great at what she does and I trust her like she's my own niece. (Which she kind of is since her whole family - from Grandparents on have adopted me into their family). If it helps her, we all win. She's a strong girl too, like all of us. ❤️
