It is Sunday--- and I sent the above, as I want you all to have a restful day, without any worries--It is "the Lord's Day"-----so we can relax---knowing he will take care of everything--
I am later than usual posting---You see, last evening, I went to make an orange loaf--and my loaf pan to bake it in, looked quite "used"--older than I remember it ever appearing---I carried on anyway, prepared everything to go into the pan, baked it--- let it cool on a rack---and then--and then------I tried to get it out of the loaf pan----and it was all stuck to the bottom--
""You been using this pan?" I asked Himself---
--and he said, "Oh yeah, I 've been cooking veggies on the BBQ with it---"--
And then I remembered a cookie sheet, in very bad condition, which I assume had hit the BBQ also----"Lord love a Duck!"----and probably a great many of my baking equipment, went the same way.---Himself does not know what goes on the BBQ and what goes in the oven---SO-----I am going to try to reclaim my kitchen--
The Orange loaf looked terrible but I still served it for dinner--and, I decided that perhaps I should look into dinner-- start with something easy and quick like Hamburger Helper-- with a salad--which I did---
Himself has always loved to cook, but---- I believe his talents in that department are not like they used to be-----
Life sure changes as one ages doesn't it?---Handing over the kitchen in our "older age" is perhaps not advised! Maybe we all should go back in age--- let me see, instead of turning 81 (as I do in December), I think I will pretend that I am 79----There will be no excuse to feel "all done in--"So, we have "smoke" in the air---plus it is hot and muggy--and the AC is running AGAIN---I never remember a summer like this!--Son #2 is en route to Vancouver, where it is is hot and smokey I hear--I told him to get out of there ASAP--- He replied, "Mom, we fly above that!"---Pilots do not appreciate their Mom telling them stuff!
So, I am going to "stew" some rhubarb--- Hopefully I can find the pot I used to use-- -hope it's not out under the BBQ---Mom used to say, "Patience is a virtue, Possess it if you can"---
Good luck with that re-claim of the kitchen. Have a wonderful Sunday!
ReplyDeleteSo far, its not working--the reclaiming of my kitchen-- himself has everything in the wrong drawers also-- Man oh man!--Lynda
DeleteIt is YOU that's amazing.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh at your loaf pan, although not funny for all the effort you put into making something delicious. The cookie sheet is probably done for as well. Himself does try...at the expense of your equipment.
LOL.
Yep, our kids don't appreciate our comments. LOL
Have an amazing day.
Hot.. AC has run for weeks.
Loved the inserts.
Hugs
Here, the AC runs continuously also--I did turn it off early this AM--- then turned it right back on again after about 5 minutes--LOL----Son#3 , the Policeman just was out here with their 2 dogs--Lola and Apollo , who , I hear are coming here early August when they go to Hawaii--They will help Lopez gto behave--LOL--Lynda
DeleteOH boy, LOVE that meme. Good to know He is handling the problems today!
DeleteSorry to hear about your loaf pan and other items being used on the BBQ when maybe . . . they shouldn’t have been. **SIGH** Your Mom is right . . . patience is a virtue, possess it if you can. Moms are smart!
Good luck reclaiming your kitchen. *SIGH*

Hi Barb---- Yes, Moms have to be smart!--and PATIENT---and--caring-- and patient-- Lordy, we must be "Saints." Lynda
DeleteBetter check the pan before doing the rhubarb. You mom was right with the patience. I never had it and as my partner got older I discovered I really needed. And he was a lot younger than himself! Hope the pilot is careful out there as Have a good day. are a lot of fires in B.C. and the air to breathe must be really bad. Love your meme. Have a good day. Brenda
ReplyDeleteHi Brenda--- The Rhubarb (stewed) was so good! I could've added more tapioca---- next time!--Your partner--Did he develop Dementia?--It is a horrible disease!Lynda
DeleteMy kitchen needs reorganizing and getting rid of those pans, etc that are not in good shape anymore. My problem - - I live alone so guess who has caused the problems. Hmmm. Oh well, I can still use it just need to be on the ball sometimes. D.
ReplyDeleteOur kitchen needs, reorganizing too--so many frying pans in a pile--that are not useable-- One day --I shall get to it--we all need a holiday--don't yu find, that after a bit of a rest, like a vacation, so much more gets done?-Lynda-
DeleteIt's Kathy - I love the first comment; let God be in charge! Giving that a good try today! My husband has been "helping" more - last week he washed, folded and put away all the towels, rags and miscellaneous other items. Wouldn't you know - I keep finding things in the wrong places! But he's trying so I can't say anything or I'll get "I never do anything right" speech! We are having a couple of very nice days - cooler than usual for this time in July. But looks like the A/C will be back on by mid-week!
ReplyDeleteOh Kathy--that is how my kitchen was--dishes all in the wrong spots-- and his meals were not good--Yu know I took over the kitchen again and that has made him very angry--Oh well--What can one do?---I get that speech too-- the speech that he should get out of here--- I say, "Where will yu go?"--and that ends it!----Is your husband with Dementia?--= Do you sometimes want to just "whack him"?--I feel bad for even thinking that way, but by the end of the day, I am tired and I just want my husband back--not this different man--Our AC
Deletehas been on for so many days lately-- lynda
Hi Lynda,
ReplyDeleteI read the last 7 days of your postings to get me caught up on what is happening at your house. Sounds like you had a great time w/your kids all coming back for a get together. My how your daughters kids have grown. You are so lucky to have a big family and everyone gets along.
Dan & I are busy working in our garden. We have some of your smoke from Canada and they advised people not to work outside for long periods of time. Going out to pick some blueberries from our garden. Take care Bev
Hi Bev--The Grandkids have grown-- I loved them being here-- They all just want to be together--It is so nice--And now I have HIMSELF--who is way more work than than one can ever imagine----Your garden sounds wonderful-Lynda
DeleteHappy Sunday, Lynda! Hope your daughter made it home safe. It is cloudy here in Ohio today and was so foggy early this morning from light rain all night. Good for Lopez being a sweet little doggie. Sounds like lots of doggie fun for you next week. Well, we got a 10 week old baby yorkie yesterday. His name is Tommy. I am tired today. It will get better. Our oldest yorkie is 7 and she is doing great with him. We waited 6 months after losing our oldest one in January. I wasn't too into the idea but my husband and nephew who stays the summer was all about it. I gave in. lol Wish me luck with this wee little one. I know your son will enjoy his trip and grab McDonald's somewhere. lol Maybe some food pics. lol Third visit to the dentist tomorrow afternood. The nephew will babysit the dogs. Geez. I will have extra anxiety but I know it will be fine. Only one more side at the dentist after tomorrow and all 4 sides will be all white. Yay! Yes, I do try to keep the extra grocery items off the list that I really don't need anyways. It helps the bill and my body. lol Enjoy your Sunday! Hugs!....Oh!!! It's National Ice Cream Day!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I never knew there was a National Ice Cream Day!--Good thing I didn't know too--or I'd be out buying more ice cream,.--How are your teeth coming along--?--When in--upper ones----then he hooked the bridge on them--
DeleteYour little Tommy must be so sweet--a lot of work, but --- worth it, says me, who loves dogs--LOL-- The Pilot son was out in Vancouver-- hopefully he is heading back to Toronto to-night--=-And yes, keeping the sweet foods off my list brought my grocery order down quite a bit--So nice that yu wrote --It has not been an easy day handling Himself to-day-
Lynda
The orange loaf sounds good. Air quality is hazy today here too! So I am staying in. Donna_cps2
ReplyDeleteIt was smokey here too this morning--- scare-y ----Lynda
DeleteWe've been having quite a bit of smoke here (NE Montana) for the past week or so from the fires in B.C. Some days it is a haze, but the past few days it has been really bad, even smoky smelling at times. Yesterday I could hardly see the hills that are about a mile away. One nice thing is that the temperatures have been lower than normal for this time of year, but still pleasant. This has been going on since May...
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh--so hot here--- and we had smoke this morning over the lake-It looked like fog--but--I know it was smoke--Yu are in Montana--When I was growing up and all those cowboy shows were on, they seemed to be filmed in Montana--Lynda
DeleteLynda, you are amazing, too. So is Himself. It is more work to deal with things as we age. With all you have to do...You are my Super Hero!
ReplyDeleteJust came back from getting bananas and a little prepared dish for supper. I am not as anxious to cook anymore. Especially for lil ol me.
I so have things to fix, but with Bingo today with my friends, it is just too late now.
I did clean my stove and microwave, frig front, etc. Washed dishes and did all my therapy exercises, too...before Bingo. Hey! I guess I am amazing, too!
I know what you mean about any kids, let alone ones that are pilots, hearing directions from you. It was okay when they were little, but not when they become adults. I guess we raised them already!
Here's to a great week ahead for all of us!
{{{HUGS}}}
I am your supper hero--??--That seems so nice that yu think that way--I do agree that it must be hard to cook a meal for only you--Too bad you don't live next door--to me---WE could share the cooking-- LOL-Yes, it better be a great week eh??--Lynda
DeleteWe went to see Sound of Freedom today. It is a true story about a man who went after child sex traffickers in Columbia. It is horrific what some children go thru.
ReplyDeleteSorry Himself ruined your pans, when you get new ones, hide them so you can get them when you want to bake. LOL David was pickier about his pans and skillets than I was.
Have a good week and hope the dog has not bitten you again.
