You are special!

A new day---  not too cold--no sun--yet------  AND NO MORE LEAF RAKING ----The nice person yesterday did the Lake side-- (for a fee--which was worth every penny)-----  Our phones are still messed up, but I have hope that soon we will get our old number back--

I have walked LOPEZ who did everything he was supposed to do--warm enough that he didn't need a coat--YesterdayI did get to a grocery store with maybe 15 items  that I bought--always yogurt--usually milk--- It is SO SO much easier to not have to lug home 4 bins of food--easier to put it away also--i saw the news this morning, and thought , "What do the people over in Gaza do for their groceries?"----We are so fortunate to have everything that we have aren't we??

To-day I go to meet my new Doctor---  my other doctor retired and moved out west--  I really have no medical problems that I am aware of, but I think it's good to get to know this guy before medical stuff occurs--This appointment should be interesting--

Do you have your Halloween treats ready for that freaky night?-- We do not get many children at all, but I always decorate outside --the village people out by the road and a couple pumpkins----Here are a few pictures from the past--

so, enough of that---  I am going to dust our bedroom--Sadie just came in to remind me to get busy here--"a room a day"--I hope that your day is fabulous-- Make it that way---

-It is "Fall"---  We can enjoy this season if we decide to---and be thankful for what we have---We are fortunate to live where we do--think about the past also--stuff that we remember--thAt our children will not--talk about it all to them---- like--Do you remember "Drive -in " movie theatres?----Remember "Howdy Doody"--???
Be strong to-day--Be happy to-day--Be kind to yourself---

  1. Two weeks to go to Halloween... good photo reminders. No, I haven't bought treats yet. I have two reasons: Carl, who is coming to visit starting Saturday. Dogs and chocolate do not mix. And myself, who would of course get into it intending to "eat just one" and having to go buy more. So I don't purchase the treats until the day itself!

I share your frets about the parts of the world where it's just so hard to survive right now! I'm thankful for what I have, including access to grocery stores and the funds to purchase what's needed... but also have this layer of feeling my gratitude for some things is a selfish kind of gratitude. I'm grateful, for example, that my son is no longer in uniform as reservists are again being "called up" and some of them are in the kinds of units he used to serve in. But how fair is it that some other mother has to worry about her son or daughter?

Grace is unmerited favor, and I've received a lot of it. Which means there's this obligation (in my mind) to "give back", right?

    Onward!

    1. Sounds like a good day. Hope you like your new Doctor, I like mine but it is an adjustment to get accustomed to a new person.

  3. It's Kathy. I'm glad you got your leaves raked up. Ours have not even started falling yet and the trees haven't turned color. Tom will be competing with the snow to get the leaves up this year I'm afraid. I'm glad yesterday was a good day and that the phones, hopefully, will have been fixed by now. It's a dreary day here which suits me fine since I feel kind of dreary. My cold is finally going away but my body feels totally worn out. There are 2 dogs a house down from us who's family just let them out to run - twice now they've been in our yard. I've called on them before. If I go outside with Daisy - who knows our yard's boundaries - and she sees two strange dogs she will take off after them. As it is, she can smell that they've been in our yard. But I have to have "proof" they have been in our yard! So frustrating. Well, I hope today is another good day!

  4. Love this, Lynda!
Gotta tell you I commented very late last night, and I don't know if you get notifications when there's a new comment.
You are right, appreciating what we have is the key to getting more to appreciate!
Love the Halloween photos. We have signs outside for trick-or-treaters to come in. Those of us that want to participate sit down in the vestibule with bowls or bags of treats to pass out. Such fun seeing the kids in costume...especially the tiny ones. They don't really know what's going on, but they love the candy.
Cooler today, but not too cold. Light rain so far.
My Sadie has already been busy with dishes and laundry. We'll see how much more she accomplishes.
Love the do you remember meme. Saved it to post on FB.
Almost time to put the clothes in the dryer. No one was in the laundry room for a change!
Happy you got rid of the leaves! We still have some on trees.
    Hope your day proceeds the way you want it to. {{{HUGS}}}

  5. Lynda, keep remembering how smart, kind and strong YOU are.
Glad your leaves are gone. Ours are still green and attached. Color change isn't expected until end of month.
I love your village people. I don't buy candy. No kids come here and if I buy it....I'll eat it. Im still waging the Spark People battle.
Smaller grocery trips are so much easier. I learned that long ago. I'm on bananna and yogurt duty FREQUENTLY.
Darn phones. Hope they get squared away today. Are you returning to voice over internet? I got confused with Bell and different numbers and all the frustrating time spent trying to get answers.
Hoping himself is "himself" and its going ok.
I remember just about everything on the long ago list. Glass milk bottles. Yep There is still one drive in movie near my hometown. Oh yes, the candy cigarettes and the wax bottles candy with syrup...well I experienced most of it.
    Stay strong.
So very much to be grateful for. I am blessed abundantly.
    Enjoy your day.
    Play your piano and sing.
    Hugs
    I gotta get Sadie moving.
Sunny but cool day in St.Louis

  7. Hope the meeting w/ your new Dr. goes well. Never easy. BUT you’re right . . . better to meet now than in the midst of a health challenge.

Have a bag of treats, but that’s all we’ll have. Not many kids. So, when it’s gone, it’s gone

OH boy, for sure, having to let go of what I thought retirement would be and embrace what is. Different, but . . . . still making it good.

Holy moley . . . guess I’m older than dirt because I remember all of those things! LOL

    Hugs, special lady!

  8. Well I hope Bell gets your phones straightened out real soon, Their commercials claim it is so easy to do anything with them!! They lie I think. Glad you got the leaves raked. It's scary to be able to relate to the "older than old" posting. Somehow the font changed size here? Brenda

  9. Hi Lynda! I hope your day went well and the doctor visit was everything you were expecting. My doctor did not retire but I need a new one. Mine just guesses too much and leaves me without a real diagnosis and suffering at times. I am not sure about Halloween candy yet. I usually see what the weather is going to be. Raining and cole usually means very few kids. Nice feeling you got your leaves cleaned up. Yes, small grocery orders are the best. I am getting my Thanksgiving turkey and ham in the freezer tomorrow so I won't have to worry about that. I like to plan things out so early. lol Always so much to do so I just like to think ahead. I remember those cute pics of your daughter and her family. It was very nice here in Ohio today and I did not even make it out. Cloudy tomorrow and then rain a couple days. It will all be fine. We must be thankful. Have a great night!

  10. Hello from Older than Dirt, Sandra! I remember almost every one of those things....as a matter of fact, I have an original Howdy Doody Puppet doll in my basement that was my husband's! It is missing his boots! Oh well! Today was a much better day for me than yesterday...when everything seemed to go wrong or was stressful! Thank goodness! Don't think I could take 2 "high
    stress" days in a row!

  11. No candy bought here, no kids come. It is fine. Warmed up again, need fan on, and by Saturday, 90 degrees for a few days. Nuts, not normal, even for Texas. Did the doctor not tell you he went home?
